Frank paced his room not being able to take it anymore. He had to talk to Alice today. That was all there was to it. Tomorrow would be the first task, and he couldn't wait another day to talk to her.
Alice seemed to still be a little cold towards him, but in all honesty, Frank didn't care. He was still going to talk to her. He had to make her see that he loved her, because obviously just his note wouldn't do. Alice was his world pretty much and he couldn't have it keep on crashing down. Today he had a huge burst of courage, and he had planned out what he was going to say, however he knew that his planned words would flee upon seeing her.
He left his room and began to pace the common room, Alice had to come in here sometime, and he wasn't going to rest until she did.

Alice woke up late today, still not having any classes this morning. She did manage to get a bit of studying done in her room before hunger got the best of her. She was studying about magical creatures just in case it would be needed for one of the tournament tasks. She had been trying to study most the things she didn't have classes in just to make sure her skills were as well rounded as possible. It never hurt to be prepared for anything.
She pulled out the love letter from Frank which by now looked well worn from being read over and over again. She sighed for the umpteenth time as tears blurred her vision until she blinked them away. She needed to get something to eat she decided and although it was past breakfast in the great hall she thought she might visit the kitchens and see if she could get some hot tea and a honey scone to eat.
She walked down to the common rooms, not expecting to see anyone there really and stopped when she got to the bottom of the stairs that lead to the girl's dorms. Frank. Heaven help her but Frank was there and his eyes were watching her.

Frank watched the girls' dorm steps and saw Alice. His eyes lit up as he saw her. He studied her for a moment before stepping forward to him. Just as he thought at first, all the words that he had planned to say to her left his mind. His mind was blank and now he was going to have to just wing it.
He took a step closer to her to help prevent her trying to get away from him. "Alice, I need to talk to you for a moment."

Alice hesitated and didn't move from where she stood. He wanted to talk to her? What had he been doing down here by himself.. was he waiting for her? She could only assume yes since everyone else was already gone for the morning and now he wanted to talk to her. A multitude of questions flickered in her head, most without answers. But she didn't frown, nor did she smile... she just looked at him, hoping and dreading. She wasn't sure what he would say... and wasn't sure how she'd feel once he said whatever it was. She'd seen him twice since she got the letter and neither time had they said more than a few awkward words to each other. No she wasn't exactly angry anymore but she did miss her best friend, and more. She spoke very softly, "I'm listening, Frank."

Frank sighed a quite sigh of relief. Although she didn't sound too happy that he wanted to talk to her, he wasn't going to let that make his courage disappear. He swallowed and looked directly at her. "I know that I have apologized for the way I have acted. There has been no real good reason why. I just have listened to you when you came down the hall to try and explain. I should have, but my head was telling me to run away. I should not have ran away. I know that. I shouldn't have ever left you."
Frank rubbed the back of his neck. Now it was time to own up to his letter. "Now, I know that you should have already recieved the letter I wrote you. I wasn't sure if you would have let me talk to you long enough to tell you. I put everything I had into it."

Alice unconsiously reached into her pocket and pulled out the letter that was already worn, half smudged with tears and and looked as if it hadn't left her person since she'd received it. "It was beautiful" she said very softly a tear welling in her eyes but she didn't let the tears come. She didn't want to interrupt him this time, she wanted to hear ever word he had to say. She'd memorized the entire thing by now and although there was still some hurt in her eyes there was also a glimer of hope reflected there.

Frank stared at her for a moment. He was happy that she liked it. "I know that the night in the kitchen you must not have heard me when I told you that I loved you. I just scared then too. I thought about it all night and then I realized that I might as well write you a letter because I was scared that you wouldn't let me tell you. It took me several different drafts until I was happy with that one."
He looked at the ground then back up to her before taking another step to her. "Alice, I want to ask if you would forgive me and go to the dance with me. You're the only one that I would ever ask for anything, other than Kingsley, but he doesn't really count on this."

"You said you loved me?" She looked confused, she had never heard him over the pounding in her ears. And it was odd... that he had written he loved her and even just now mentioned that he did, but she still needed him to ...she didn't know what exactly she expected. She was thinking but her eyes still held some sadness. "You want me to.. go to what dance?" She still was a bit confused, though mainly just because she was slightly in a daze and it wasn't quite all sinking in after the past few weeks of emotion. She hadn't even thought about the dance, and quite honestly been so unaware of things around her lately to remember what dance he was talking about.

Frank felt a little more courage and then closed the distance between them. He was closer to her than he had been in a few weeks. However, he looked up at her since they were the same height because she was standing on the steps. "Yes, I said I loved you."
He searched her face. "The Yule Ball," he said. "I want you to go to the Yule Ball with me. I could never dream of asking anyone else. You're the only one I want to go with me." Frank couldn't stop himself. He reached his hand out and pushed her hair behind her ear.

He loved her... she felt her heart melt hearing he words from him. The sweetest words she'd ever heard and she would have sworn her heart skipped a few beats when he said it. And then instead of speaking or answering any of his questions, she cried... tears that had threatened finally spilled slowly and quietly down her cheeks, she didn't even have the breath to speak.. but she leaned her face into his hand and began to let the tears fall into his palm.

His stomach felt like butterflies took over and were fluttering around everywhere as she leaned into his hand. Frank reached his other hand to her other cheek and wiped away her tears. He smiled softly. His heart started pounding harder. Frank leaned closer to Alice and kissed her gently. This was no accident, there was going to be no awkwardness after this. Frank knew what he was doing and he missed having the chance to do this. He moved as close as he could to her and kept both hands on her cheeks. Frank didn't feel the need to say anything.

Alice leaned into the kiss without thinking, she just responded to him instinctively and accepted his kiss without reserve, tender at first, gentle, testing.. and she savored it. She didn't want the kiss to stop, didn't feel a need to pull away. She just wanted to surround herself with his arms and his lips, into the warm cacoon he created around them. And then she kissed him back, slowly and with all the emotion she'd been holding at bay.

Frank moved his hands from Alice's cheeks to her back. One of his hands went to her upper back and the other to her lower back. He lifted her up and pressed his body against hers. After he deepened the kiss and slowly pulled away, he gently put her back on her feet. "I love you Alice Prewett," he whispered with a smile playing on his lips.
He rested his forehead against hers. "I can't stand another day with you upset with me and you not being there. So, I guess now is the appropriate time to also say, be mine?"

Alice couldn't help but smile, all doubts gone from her head with his kiss and his words. The words she needed to hear above all others.
She whispered back in a deep soft voice, "I love you too, Frank." Her voice was filled with that love. "I will always be yours if you will have me and I've never stopped loving you just as I have always been yours. I don't want anyone but you, I've never wanted anyone but you," It was true she knew, she had been best friends with him since her first day at Hogwarts and she'd loved him since they were in their third year... it had just taken a long time to recognize it for what it was.

Frank grinned and picked her up again, only to spin her around the room happily. "Of course I'll have you," he replied with another quick kiss. There were no words to describe how happy he was that everything was fine again. Actually, now, things were better than fine.
He put her down gently. "I'm becoming hungry, but I'm not so sure I want to go down just yet. Unless of course you want to go ahead and go down and eat. I'll go with you." Frank still had a smile playing on his lips.

She smiled and laughed when he picked her up and spun them around. Even his quick kiss was something she loved. She had missed him and now that she was in his arms again, everything else that had happened between them seemed to fade into a half forgotten bad dream.
Alice had completely forgotten her hunger until he said something... but even now that was the last thing on her mind. Right now she wanted ...needed nothing more than to be held by him right now. "I don't want to share you with anyone else right now... I... I just want you to hold me right now, and never let me go."

Frank smiled. Her thoughts were just like his. "Good, because I don't want to share you either." He took her hand and led her over to the couch. Frank plopped down on the couch, bringing Alice with him. He pulled her down beside him and put his arms around her. "I don't plan on letting you go," he said pulling her as close as he could to him.
"If I ever do anything stupid again, slap me please." Frank ran his hand gently up and down her arm. He missed this and now, he was going to savor every minute of it. He was going to let her know how much he loved her as often as he could.

Alice teasingly and very gently slapped his face, "Mr. Longbottom don't do anything stupid. There now you've pre-slapped so you have no excuse to do something stupid again." She smiled up at his blue eyes. Oh how she'd missed those eyes... she snuggled into his chest then, her head on his shoulder, right where it belonged she thought. "Frank.. I love you." she said again not caring how silly she might sound. She just wanted to make sure he knew. "And for the record, I will be yours for the dance too."

Frank couldn't help but laugh as she pre-slapped him. Of course it didn't hurt because she was gentle. "I'll do my best not to do anything stupid. Without you being here with me, I couldn't function at all." He snuggled her closer and rested his head on hers. "I love you too Alice. More than you could ever know."
He took in the scent of her hair. It smelt like heaven to him. "The night of the dance will be just us, unless of course Sirius wants to dance with his cousin, but other than that, I don't really want to share you then either."

Alice felt a strange contentment, as finding her home in him truly for the first time. It was a feeling she'd never felt before. There had always been other things, awkwardness or .. so many things between them that they had finally managed to push aside. And she felt whole now as if her entire world had finally had the last pieces put into the puzzle of her life.
"If it makes you feel any better, I wasn't any better off without you either. I felt so lost and alone, and I never want to feel like that again." She placed a soft kiss on his chest through his clothing, doing nothing but being held and loved by the only man she ever wanted by her side.
