"Okay," she blurted out as soon as his lips stopped moving. She had a date for the dance. And he was so sweet too! She couldn't believe her good fortune and instantly wished she had more girlfriends to share the news with. Her mum would be the next best thing, and Clarissa too although at eight how much would Clarissa really understand about the importance of a cute boy asking you to the dance?

Peter flushed deeply. He had a date to the dance! Shy, quiet, Peter, had a date to the dance! He really had news for James, Sirius, and Remus! The best news he had ever recieved! Adelaide was extremely pretty, and he couldn't believe that she had said yes to him. Maybe his years at Hogwarts were not going to be that bad.
"I can't wait," he admitted smiling.

She took a bite of her cookie and smiled to herself as she chewed. She wasn't planning on anything extraordinary happening today when she woke up. This was such a surprise. When she had swallowed her cookie she took a drink of her cocoa, which warmed her even more than coming inside had.

Peter was happier now than he had been whenever James and the others finally accepted him. He quietly took a bite of his cookie and happiness was written all over his face. The hot chocolate was amazing, as usual. Peter watched Adelaide with interest, but not in a stalker way. She seemed to move with grace. Time was probably going to go by slowly now that he had something to look forward to, but he didn't mind because he could still spend some of his time with her.

They sat in silence for a few minutes, but it wasn't awkward in any way. Adelaide enjoyed Peter's company, and the tasty treats he had procured for them. When she had finished her cookie, she followed it with another sip of cocoa. Then looked back at Peter and smiled. "I was planning on studying in the library after dinner tonight. You can meet me there if you don't have any plans."

His eyes widened slightly in surprise. She was asking him to study with her? Of course, Peter would be more than willing to. "Really," he asked with excitment in his eyes. He wasn't ever excited about studying, however this time was different. It was going to be with Adelaide.
"Sure. That would be nice, and no I don't have plans. I don't really ever have plans anyway, so it's fine. If you want, you can eat with me, or I'll eat with you, it can be either way, or not at all. I'm not sure if James, Remus, and Sirius will be there for dinner or not whenever we're there."

She had seen him with his friends almost everyday, she wondered if he counted that as never really having plans. But she didn't ask because she was glad he had accepted her study date. And he had invited her to dinner too, or actually, to sit with him at dinner. But at eleven that was practically a date. "I'd love to sit with you and your friends for dinner. I'm sure I can get away from the Ravenclaw table for one night..." She laughed here because although she got on well with loads of her housemates, she didn't really have any true friends. She found it hard to really connect with people. She had always just had a best friend growing up, Clarissa. She didn't think it would be so hard to make friends, especially with being as outgoing and friendly as she was.

Peter's smile grew wider if that was possible. She agreed to sit with him at dinner. That was something special anyway he looked at it. It was strange knowing that there was a girl that liked him. Maybe Adelaide didn't like him like him, but she did like him enough to go to the dance with him, and to eat dinner with him. Peter was on cloud nine.
"Great," he said excitedly. "If James and the others are there, I'm sure that they won't mind you sitting there. They're pretty nice."

"Do they miss dinners often?" She was looking forward to sitting with all of Peter's friends. They always seemed to have fun and she was hoping to meet some more people outside of her house.

Peter shook his head. "No, they don't," he replied. "They just come in at random times. They'll probably be there. You'll like them though." He gave her a smile. "They like to pull pranks and stuff, although I'm sure that you won't be a target or anything. I'm going to go ahead and apologize if they make any kind of strange comments to you. They like to mess around."

Strange comments? Pranks? Adelaide now wondered what she had gotten herself into. But if Peter thought it would be okay then she was sure it would be alright. She drank the rest of her hot cocoa quicker now that it had cooled. When she put the cup down she had a little cocoa mustache, unbeknown to her.

He drank the rest of his hot chocolate before Adelaide finished hers and wiped his mouth. Peter tilted his head to the side as he noticed her expression as she drank, but a smile appeared on his face. A smile chuckle escaped him. She looked cute even with a cocoa mustache.
Peter grabbed a napkin off the table and handed it to her before pointing to his upper lip. "You have a little mustache," he told her.

"Thanks." She laughed and took the napkin, wiping her face with it. "Did I get it?" She smiled a toothy grin, moving her face left and right exaggeratedly to let him check for any signs of remaining mustache.

Peter checked her face with a little exageration. "I think you got it," he said smiling. He couldn't say that he had really smiled because of a girl before. Peter felt his cheeks flush slightly at the thought.
"Are you ready to walk over to the Great Hall for an early dinner, or would you prefer to wait a little bit longer before we actually eat?"

"I have to run up to my dorm real quick. Can I meet you there in ten minutes?" She wanted to put away her winter cloak and mittens instead of carrying them around for the rest of the day. And if they were going to study afterwards she would have to get her books, which she could just take to dinner. Would that look too nerdy, books at dinner?

"Oh sure," said Peter nodding. "I can do that. I need to run to my dorm as well real quick. I have to grab my books." He smiled again at Adelaide, and stood up from his stool. "I'll walk with you until you turn off for your dorm and I turn off for mine." Peter offered her his hand just as she got off her stool. He hoped that he was being polite enough but not to the point where it seemed to be too much.

"Good." She took his hand and stood, allowing him to guide the way out of the kitchens. She thanked the house elves for their trouble as she passed them. She might have to stop by and tell her mum that she had a date for the dance before going to meet Peter in the Great Hall. It would have to be a quick visit, but she had to tell someone.
