Arachne crawled out of Aragog's cave. She'd discovered a spider den in the Forbidden forest the night of the ceremony since she wasn't allowed to attend according to Mr. Rookwood. She'd instead decided what better to keep her busy since she hadn't been able to sleep than to visit the Forbidden Forest. She'd communicated with the other spiders there and had been delighted to find out about Aragog.
Tonight though she had finished her little jaunt and didn't want to be out past dark. She found it was faster and slightly safer to just web glide through the forest and transform back to human form shortly before leaving the brush of the forest at the edge of Hagrid's hut. The man was a dunce as far as she was concerned and she didn't worry about him seeing her much besides he was in the forest on occasion anyway she'd noticed once and really it wouldn't matter if she did it closer to his hut or deeper in the forest. He seemed to like Aragog and so she in turn didn't mind him much either, and Aragog seemed to think he deserved protection.
She reached right inside the edge of the forest behind the hut and transformed into her human form with the grace of a spider, her web forming almost as if her cloak formed around her body. Then she looked up and saw someone... damn.

Katie couldn't relax considering she felt restless. A good walk would be in order to attempt to fix her current state. She left from the Gryffindor common room, and allowed her feet to lead her. Katie wasn't sure where she was headed but it was a walk all the same.
She noticed that she ended up near the forest, although she dared not go in. There was no telling as to what was in there, and Katie didn't want to be attacked. She did have some homework that she needed to finish, and just about when she was about to turn around and head back to the school, her eyes landed on a spider. It was the biggest spider she had ever seen and Katie's eyes widened. The only thing she could do was stand there. Panic mode hit her, but she couldn't move. She was frozen.
The spider wasn't really a spider after all, it was a woman. Still, Katie was telling her feet to move, but they wouldn't. Fear had taken control.

Arachne's eyes narrowed as she realized it was a student. She had been careless and over confident and now she'd have to get rid of the girl. This was not good. Not that she cared if the girl died, but she didn't want to break her cover. Her first malicious thought was to kill her with her venom, but decided that would take too long and she wasn't about to let the girl escape. Besides she wanted no traces back to her left behind to get in the way of her mission with the Department of Mysteries. She couldn't let her secret get out either. Two strikes against the girl. It's a shame she was a pretty little thing, she would have preferred to kill her slow and painfully. She sighed with the disappointment as she quickly looked around.
Not seeing anyone she raised her wand directly at the girl... she wanted to see the fear in the girls eyes for one slight moment before she did it though. A shame she didn't want to torture the girl either.. her screams would have given her away.
"Avada Kedavra!" A sudden rushing noise sounded as a bright green flash was aimed directly at the girl's heart.

Katie tried to move and her mind was screaming at her body to move, but it wasn't moving anywhere. She didn't know what to do and the fear was evident on her face. She had a feeling that she wasn't going to see anyone ever again. Life had really just begun for her and she wished that she would have done more.
She saw a flash of green coming towards her and at that moment was the moment when her legs were released from their frozen state, however she moved to late. The spell hit her in the chest and sent her flying backwards. The life in her eyes disappeared quickly and her lifeless body hit the ground.

Arachne smiled in grim satisfaction. But she knew she needed to move quickly. It would never do if someone saw the body here. She would have to hide it at least partially in the forest. There was no need to alert anyone that a dark witch was in the school. The last thing she needed was the sudden death traced to her arrival. Damn. This really was an irritation and she could not blow her cover or her secrets. She sighed and walked calmly over to the girl. Her grim smile turned to one of delight at seeing the girl's lifeless body laying there. Too bad it had been so quick, it really would have been more enjoyable to have tortured her or at least watched her die slowly to venom. The deaths in the ministry had been after much entertainment of torture before she killed them. What a waste of a good death.
She bent down then and began to drag the girl's lifeless body into the forest. She didn't want to take it too close to the spider cave, so she began to drag it half way there. It would be deep enough not to be found right away.

This mission was turning out horribly. She had the worst luck tracking down Leo Agathon and Rori Logan, even when they weren't together. She had to do much more work than anticipated, and she was getting sucked back into juvenile dramas that she had thought she would leave behind once she graduated. The castle was now like a coffin. A death sentence. She was being buried alive and just needed air. She needed to breath.
Bellatrix walked leisurely onto the grounds. It was still Hogwarts property but even this made her feel as though her lungs were cleared again. She inhaled the night air, holding the chill inside her throat before slowly breathing out again. She shut her eyes and smiled, thinking of her love.
There was a flash of green light on the other side of her eyelids, and Bellatrix snapped out of her reverie and looked around. The light was gone now, but there was a rustling sound. Bellatrix rushed to the source of the noise, which was moving further into the woods. "Arachne?" The woman was standing over a student who laid on the floor. No it was the body of a student. Bellatrix looked questioningly at the woman, her fingers tracing the outline of her wand in her pocket.

Arachne looked up sharply and her eyes narrowed. Damn. This was turning out to be a disaster of a night. She still held her wand though and looked guardedly at Bellatrix Black. Would she have to kill her too? One death was bad enough but two would have been more work to hide. She wasn't sure what the woman had seen though, but the girl's body on the ground was a dead give away. She held herself ready to see the girls reaction. She also had another reason to delay a reaction though she was definitely ready to do whatever needed done. But Augustus had assigned her to get close to Bella, not kill her. She was sure Augustus would have her head if the woman turned up dead too. She gave a guarded look.
"Bellatrix..." She waited to see how the woman would react.. she already had a few suspicions but nothing even remotely concrete yet.

She evaluated Arachne's face. She hadn't thought the woman capable of the killing curse when she first met her. It surprised her the darkness this woman concealed. "Really Arachne. I didn't know you had it in you." She looked back at the girl's body. "I hope no one else saw this."

Arachne evaluated the other woman's expression, a cold and calculating look that she recognized in herself. When the woman spoke, Arachne heard the tone in her voice and thought that perhaps she wouldn't have to kill the woman after all. She decided to test the waters before diving in head first.
"She saw too much, I was careless apparently and I won't make that mistake again. The question is, what are you going to do?" She was direct, the woman obviously knew enough but maybe not so much as she hoped. It was time to see where this woman's intentions lay, or if she would have to have to use the wand in her hand. She didn't doubt for a moment that this woman would be at least a match for herself.

Saw too much? What could Arachne have been doing that this pathetic girl saw? Clearly Arachne was not as innocent as she had led to believe. "Perhaps buy you a drink? Unforgivables can really make you thirsty." Bellatrix wanted to know more about this girl. Like what had been the cause of all this fuss in the woods.

Arachne lifted a delicate eyebrow before nodding. "A drink would be good.. but I need to move the girl out of sight first. You might as well join me." She treated the girl's body like an inanimate object, for all the attention she gave the dead student. Her voice gave the impression that her offer was to find the girls loyalties to the darkness.
And this way she could keep the woman close and not worry about her running off to tell anyone until Arachne could get a better handle on the situation. Bella was a loose thread and she didn't usually leave loose threads. But for some reason she liked the woman and had a feeling the woman was more like herself than she'd originally thought. She seemed overly cool about the whole thing and that was what clued her in the most. Not to mention the dispassionate eye towards the body as if it wasn't the first she'd seen.

"Not a problem." Bellatrix had still been tracing the outline of her wand, just in case Arachne got any foolish ideas. Now she drew the wand and pointed it at the dead body, causing it to levitate above the ground. The girl's hair was twisted and knotted, with twigs and dead leaves stuck everywhere after being dragged through the forest. Her limbs hung limply and swayed back and forth as the body moved around tree trunks, further into the woods. "Any particular place you'd like me to dump this?"

"There's a tree not far from here that would work.. we can set her at the roots." It was a spot she'd found in spider form that would have been a great little lair but she figured it was as good a place as any to dump her. She doubted anyone would find it for at least a few days if at all, depending on how often the groundskeeper came through here. It was half way to Aragog's cave and deep enough into the forest. She realized then that Bellatrix was more than what she'd seemed to be sure. She liked the woman immediately upon her response.. apparently they both had their own dark secrets, and it would be good to have someone like Bellatrix around. It was an indication of her general mood that she'd not thought to levitate the corpse. Her day was not going well, but now it was looking a little up.

Bellatrix nodded and then moved the body further in. It was nearly pitch black here, the trees were so thick. That meant they were deep inside the forest. "Light your wand, would you. I'd hate to trip and ruin my new robes." Bellatrix found the tree Arachne had spoke of and released the levitating spell carelessly. The body thumped onto the dirt floor with a light thud, cracking a few twigs and maybe a bone or two as it landed. It didn't matter now anyway. The girl was gone. Bellatrix nudged some dirt and leave on top of the body with her foot, pocketed her wand, and wiped her hands as if she had done hard, physical labor. "Well, now that that's done. Shall we?"

Arachne had never minded the darkness, she spent much of her time in the dark but she cast lumos to light the way for Bellatrix without hesitating. "A shame she couldn't have been tortured first... what a waste." Arachne had no sympathy about the death only that she hadn't gotten to enjoy it more.
As the body was dropped carelessly she looked to Bella not even caring what happened to the body now. "Of course, where is good to get a drink around here anyways?" She was still learning the area around the school and village nearby. She suspected the woman would know somewhere to go that was suitable for a good drink.

"There's always time to savor it, Arachne." She said almost chastisingly. "The Three Broomsticks and The Hog's Head are the closest. They're just inside Hogsmeade. So what type of girl are you? Dirty pub or upstanding bar?" The forest lightened in one direction which pointed to the castle grounds. So that was the direction Bellatrix walked.

They had both better hope no one else saw what had transpired, Augustus thought. If he had seen it... who knew who else had been smart enough to remain quiet and hidden?
Still, this shone a new, interesting light on the Weaver girl. Augustus didn't trust her at all now, in any sense, but that was to her favor.
He tucked away the scene he had just witnessed in the back of his mind, and watched as the two women walked away.
And he smiled.

Arachne had always prided her own blood status and enjoyed the elegance afforded by the inheritance she now owned. Although she could easily make herself fit into either situation, if she was going to go somewhere she enjoyed though, the bar sounded more her style. Besides the fact that she was undercover and it wouldn't really do to change her methods now. She would for all intents and purposes be better being seen at an upstanding place than some grungy pub. "The Three Broomsticks sounds wonderful. I hope they don't water down their drinks though." Her casual conversation was almost light in contrast to the dead body nearby. She'd already forgotten the girl and was looking forward to learning more about this woman who obviously shared similar outlooks on magic and life.
