"Thanks, Professor McGonagall," Sirius said, moving to his seat. He glanced over at Joey again, feeling a bit annoyed. All this time he'd been telling himself that he needed to commit to his relationship with Kris, but now it seemed like everyone was telling him the opposite. It was confusing; he wished he knew what the right answer was. Was it possible that either way, Kris was going to wind up getting hurt? And if so, which way would hurt less?

Anya walked into class and looked for a place to sit... there were only three students here so far. She saw Professor McGonagall doing something and her back was turned to the class, so she found a seat near Sirius and Gage who she hadn't met either of yet and sat down quietly. It was her first herbology class at Hogwarts and she hoped she'd fit in. She wondered if Remus would be in this class. He was the only one she knew so far that she could at least call a friend.

Remus trudged out to Herbology class, still tired from the last full moon. It usually took him a few days to get his energy back up, especially when he had a particularly difficult transformation. His wrists still hurt, but at least the bandages were off now.
As he entered the room, he saw Sirius already there, and Anya sitting close by. He slipped into a seat bwtween them. "Hey Sirius, " he said. "I want you to meet my friend Anya."

Anya smiled at Remus came into the class and sat down next to her. She didn't feel so alone anymore now that he was here. And when he introduced her to another boy she smiled shyly. "Hello" Her deep accent was thick but her english was still audible and clear. She was tired too but likely not near as much as Remus looked.

"Hey Gage, where's your partner in crime?" Gage and Seth always seemed to be together in class and she wondered where Seth was. She actually liked Gage, he was a good person, sweet and smart too. She gave a sidelong glance at Sirius though. She wondered if he would ever notice her, really notice her. Maybe she really was too young, she still needed to fill out and grow up but she still had feelings. She returned her full attention back to Gage though smiling. "Who knows?" Gage said. "Seth's always late. He'll show up eventually." He shrugged it off. Gage saw Remus and Anya walk in, and nodded at them to acknowledge them before turning back to Joey. "How have you been Joey?" He asked. |

"Not bad, you know me.. just lying low like normal. After the guys got me in trouble for some prank they did, I've been trying to stay out of trouble." She meant the mauraders, the four boys who she'd become friends with this year, who were all a year older than her. She generally got along with most people as long as they weren't sticking their nose up at her. She liked Gage though, he'd always been down to earth and friendly. Between Sirius, Remus and Gage she was a happy girl with her friends.

She laughed, "No not too much trouble but enough, it's what I get for sticking up for them and taking the heat sometimes." She shrugged though, she really didn't mind.. and she normally didn't tell them when she did take the blame so they wouldn't feel bad about it. She didn't however divulge which prank it was to Gage, the less he knew the better for himself because he could claim innocence.

Severus slipped into class and sat down into the closest chair. He pulled out his book and hoped he wasn't noticed. For all his dark looks and snarky attitude, he didn't like attention .

Kris walked into class and gasped as she spotted that Professor Black wasn't there. She bounced toward Sirius. She had tried again to make herself prettier than most of the other girls in her house. "Hello Sirius!" she flounced her hair and popped down on the chair closest to him.

Joey rolled her eyes at Kris when the girl wasn't looking. She tried too hard, Joey thought. Something about Kris rubbed her the wrong way and she wasn't sure if it was just her overbearing relationship with Sirius or the girl herself, though likely both. At least Joey had enough sense to not sit right next to him and keep Kris from being upset at her just for being his friend.
She kept her attention however on Gage. She wondered vaguely if the boy already had a date, but she wouldn't be surprised if he did. She didn't like him as more than a friend but she wasn't really looking forward to going alone either. Everyone seemed to be pairing up lately and even Joey wasn't immune to that fact. And of course being a 'firstie' as some liked to call them, didn't help matters either. She just always faded into the background as 'one of the guys' and was likely doomed to be alone forever. Not that it really mattered, she had her friends.. most of the time.. and that would have to be enough. Maybe one of her other friends would need a dance partner and would ask her out of pitty. She didn't really mind that, she knew that she was their friend regardless.

Gage chuckled. Leave it to Joey to not tell him what prank she was referiong to. He watched as Kris Lupin came in and hugged Sirius. Gage could tell she spent far too much time this morning trying to look better than any other girl. But he didn't say anything, instead, he just looked at Joey with a raised eyebrow, a look that said. Is she for real??

Joey rolled her eyes in response. She may be a first year but even she could see how lame Kris was. She really wished Sirius would loose the girl, even if she was Remus's sister. Those siblings seemed nothing alike. She happened to be friends with the marauders, all of them.. but Kris was nothing like her brother. Joey could only roll her eyes at the girl. She just couldn't see what Sirius saw in her. What did Kris have that Joey didn't? She sighed.

Gage snorted, glad that Joey felt the same way about Kris that he did. "So, enjoying being a Firstie?" Gage asked, smiling. Gage wouldn't know what it was like, to be a first year at Hogwarts, being that his first year of wizarding school was at a different school in America. But all first years had to be the same, no matter what school, and Gage hoped that Joey was doing better than he had his first year.

"I'll like it better when I'm not a first year.. I like Hogwarts though, so many new things and people to meet. But I think being older would help with some things... people ignore the first years more than anything, like we aren't worthy of their attention unless it's to tease us." She thought about Sirius, likely he never even noticed her as more than just a firstie... right under his nose and he was oblivious. boys were so stupid sometimes.

"Seth says you hate being a first year until you're older and all you want is to go back the the simpler times of being in first and second year." Seth, Maxi, and Bek all talked about "the simpler times" of the first two years, but Gage thought that there was nothing simple with the work load he had now aquired...

"Yeah but no one notices a first year until it's time to get blamed for something." She gave a pointed look at Sirius indicating that he never seemed to know she existed. "I probably won't even have a date for the dance, that's how much I get noticed. I'm just Joey the firstie, girl next door." She sighed. She really didn't mind being the gal pal to her friends, but sometimes she felt like she might as well be a wall flower for all the attention she got from Sirius.

There was a skip in her step and a smile on her face as she entered the room. This was one of her happy days, she had to admit to having her ups and downs in moods but today she woke with the birds singing. She was happy and it showed on her face as she looked for a place to sit.

Seth slipped into Herbology unnoticed. He looked around and, after realizing he wasnt late for once, sought out Gage. Gage though, was talking to another Gryffindor girl, so Seth decided not to bother them. Seth (as well as Bek and Maxi) had been trying to get Gage to be more social for a while now, and he was glad to see that his Best friend had other friends around his year.
As seth looked for a place to sit, he saw a Gryffindor girl in his year doing the same thing. "Hey there Lilac," Seth greeted kindly. "You seem to be in a good mood today."
