She rolled her eyes. "No. I'm a complete loner and no one talks to me."
Then, she closed her eyes and sighed. "I'm sorry. The sarcasm doesn't help, I know."

He laughed however one short laugh, "Oh my...was that a joke?" he asked, then in the same tone she had used, "I'm sorry, the Sarcasm doesn't help. I know." he teased her.

She gave him a long, steady look. She supposed she had to take as good as she gave, though, so she was silent for a moment.
Then, "Yes. I have friends."

"Close friends?" he asked leaning forward a bit. He did wonder whom she hung out with, who she liked spending time with, who she leaned on when things got to be too much.

"Yes," She answered, lying outright, and she leaned forward too. "Why are you interrogating me, Mr. Renneau?"

"Professor." he said lifting his chin, "If you aren't going to call me Caleb then you aren't gonna call me Mister. Mr Renneau...he passed." he bit out the last part reluctantly.

She bit back an apology and nodded. "Professor Renneau... why are you interrogating me?" She asked again, her voice softer this time.

He gave her another look of semi annoyance, he wanted her to use his name damn it, and yet he knew that it was probably unprofessional of him still he threw caution to the wind, "What I mean Miss Graham, is that I don't intend to call you Miss Graham anymore, and if I'm taking such liberties I would prefer it if you did as well, my name, is Caleb...I'm not so old and stuffy a teacher yet to have to be called Renneau anything."

Adele didn't like where this was going. Or she did really like it.
"Do your other students call you Caleb?"

"They should, and to tell you the truth it's incredibly odd thinking of myself as a teacher, I still know some of the students here from when I was a student...it's simply a mind trip, now everyone's calling me professor Renneau...I should have told you all to call me Caleb that first day...I mean it's fun and all...professor...but it's tedious I'm 19, some of my second years look at me like I'm fifty."

"It's hard not to look at you like you're fifty," she answered. "It's a lot easier for students to see their professor as older than as a... peer."
She should have said friend. "You don't remember me, do you?"

"No" he admitted with a small blush, "'Please don't take it personally, I was...well full of studies you'd be just as a first or second year when I left." he could see himself now pompous as it was never having any time for anything other than his books.

"I would have been a fourth year, wouldn't I?" She asked. He was only three years older than her. Only... Merlin, it seemed like a lifetime.
"But for the record, I don't remember you, either."

"About there." he nodded, "I graduated a year early." he said nonchalantly, it wasn't exactly important to him so he didn't see why it would be important to her, except that it made him a teacher and her a student.

"You never answered me," she said, changing the subject. She had asked the question twice... and she wondered if he'd even remember what it was.

"I'm sorry...What was the question?" he asked after listening to her, he straightened a bit and gave her more of his attention.

Adele rolled her eyes and stood from the desk. "I should go," she repeated, picking her bag up from the floor and not hesitating to walk towards the door.

"Adele." he said sternly, "What was your question?" he asked again if he didn't know it would bug him all night and in fact he was quite certain he hadn't missed a question at all but then again he could be wrong, he was a man after all and Men were notorious for blanking out in conversations.

Merlin, men were dense. And hadn't he figured out yet that she shut down when he was stern with her?
"I asked why you were interrogating me and you keep refusing to answer me!"

"I'm not interrogating you Adele, I was trying to get to know you, you're more than welcome to ask me questions." he said softly in his defense although he had the impression that he had made her upset and he didn't like that.
