Arachne feigned a warm smile, to her this was just small talk and she would get into the woman's head later if she could. But for now she was just trying to watch the woman and give her the Arachne that she wanted the woman to see. "I was just curious, that's all.. I find that I had similar reasons as well.. although not to give back to the school of course. I guess I'm just biding my time until something better comes along. So it seems we have something in common." It was true in a sense.. she was just biding time doing her assignment, until Mr Rookwood gave her something more interesting to do. She really did dislike children.

Bellatrix didn't see why this woman needed to speak with her about her dreams for the future or reasons to be here. And she really didn't understand why Rabastan, the stupid boy, thought he needed to be the bearer of this boring woman. She had papers to grade and children to spy on. She didn't need to be wasting her time with this. But nevertheless she smiled politely, pretending she had any interest in Miss Weaver. If she had known that Arachne too was faking interest, this meeting would have been vastly different.

"How long have you been teaching here, Ms Black? I hope I'm not the only new one here lately."
Arachne was still keeping to small talk, she really had just wanted to put a face to the name, see how she acted around strangers and begin to introduce herself slowly. Hopefully she'd eventually figure out what angle Mr. Rookwood was looking for. But the woman was very dull so far, and Arachne was unimpressed. She looked at the woman with feigned interest, although she was truly inspecting her face and eyes as she thought about the things the unspeakables studied. What use would this girl have to one of those.. which category did she fit into? There had to be more than meets the eye.. some secret the girl was hiding to make her of interest.
Rabastan however was much more interesting and she wondered how well these two knew each other. He had said he knew her well.. perhaps lovers? She considered testing the theory, not that it mattered much but it would interesting regardless. Arachne slowly moved her hand from his arm and shifted her arm behind his back so she could slide her finger slowly down his spine, to Bella however she would have only seen Arachne take a step closer to Rabastan her arm forced behind him by the motion.

Rabastan's senses were slipping if he was seriously interested in Arachne. She certainly seemed interest in him, judging by their close proximity. She covered a heavy sigh with a cough, covering her mouth with her fist. "Since the start of term. But there are a few new professors. I'm sure you'll meet them all soon enough. Rabastan, have you given our dear Miss Weaver a tour of the castle and introduced her to everyone yet?" He had to be able to tell she was annoyed by the visit. And he had better be getting the hint.

Rabastan could tell, and he was sure he would hear about it later, but he hadn't seen the harm in bringing her to see Bella. "Well, Bellatrix, I was just starting that tour, actually," he replied, giving her a look that asked her to please humor him, though he wasn't sure why.
"You were my first stop, as I've never believed in saving the best for last."

Arachne watched the little look that passed between them, she was familiar with these little looks herself but she didn't let on. Interesting, so there was more between them than it seemed and even mroe interesting was the fact that Bella seemed... bored? Well that was good at least, if she was bored with her then she wouldn't be worth noticing later when she was around. It was to her advantage to seem like a wall flower sometimes, people didn't notice you watching them as much when they don't expect anything from you. She simply smiled.
Well so far she'd learned a few things about the woman already, and she was beginning to see that perhaps she was indeed more than she seemed. Augustus had to have a reason and soon enough she'd try to find out why. She hoped the woman wasn't as dull as she seemed. But of all people, Arachne knew that looks could be decieving.

She gave Rabastan a stiff smile. "Unfortunately for you," she directed her comment to Arachne, "that means it's all downhill from here." She returned to her seat behind the professor's desk. If Rabastan wanted to stay around longer, then he could. But she wasn't going to like it. And while she would keep up her polite pretenses around the new assistant, Rabastan was certainly going to get an earful later.

Arachne have a little pout, "A shame if it's all downhill from here, I was just begining to enjoy myself.. although I have to admit I'm thankful he offered to give me a little tour. I was meaning to stop by and meet you today anyways and he saved me from getting lost. The school at Durmstrangs was much more straight forward of a design like a fortress on the sea, and more dungeons. It's the stairways I'm still getting used to here. " She was bored stiff other than the amusement that Rabastan presented. She wasn't impressed with the castle, and she wasn't really lost either. The one thing she was used to was secret passages, dark dungeons and there was more than meets the eye to Drumstrangs than you'd guess. It wasn't a castle like Hogwarts, but it was no less in design for all the secrets it held. She had actually spent a good portion of her short time here already exploring the darker areas of the castle. She just wished those bloody stairs would stop moving when she was on them, it wasted her time when she had to change routes.
Her next comment she directed in general, she didn't really care who answered her, it was just another way to make idle chatter. "So if the party circles around you, Bellatrix, what else is there to do in this castle? surely there is something of interest for a new girl to learn about besides where the classrooms are."

"That's about it," she said flatly, returning to her work. "Though I have it on good authority that Rabastan is a good entertainer for at least half the school." She gave him yet another look before beginning to read the next student's work. "If there's not anything else you need at the moment Miss Weaver, I am rather busy. Perhaps we could meet later to discuss work. Of course, if there was something in particular you needed..." Her eyebrow raised at her inquiry.

How dreadfully dull of the woman, Arachne thought. And Arachne wondered if her comment about Rabastan was a boast or a threat. Either way Arachne wasn't the least phased about it, though the fact that he might be the payboy type made her inwardly chuckle. Of course he would be. "No, I merely came to meet you, but I can see your work is important to you. I'll leave you to it. Although I'm sure I'll find you later when you're less busy and we can discuss work." She merely gave her a half bored friendly smile and turned to Rabastan.

Rabastan moved to Bellatrix, turning his back to Arachne. "Thank you," he mouthed, reaching for her hand, regardless of whether she would willingly give it to him, and kissed the back of it.
When he turned back to Arachne, he nodded towards the door. "Come, we'll continue the tour."

Arachne smiled giving one last glance at the woman and then turned to follow Rabastan without another word to Bellatrix. "Of course, I'm looking forward to the rest of the tour, as down hill as it might be... though I have a feeling it might not be so boring with you for a guide." She smiled with a soft pretty face, almost innocent.

Bellatrix chuckled softly as Arachne flirted with Rabastan and made to leave. She might have been a bore to Bellatrix, but she doubted Rabastan felt the same way. She was pretty and had an interest in him. That was enough for the Lestrange. "See you both later," she said trying to be polite, for Rabastan's sake.

Rabastan smiled at her over Arachne's shoulder. It was one of those charming, little boy smile... a thank you for her.
Turning back to Arachne, he put a hand on her back and led her through the door.
"I will do my best to make sure it is as exciting as possible.

Arachne let Rabastan lead her out, he seemed very charming and sure of himself and she found his confidence attractive. She decided that he'd make a good toy to play with at that point. She needed some entertainment while she was stuck here in the castle on assignment and she decided then that he would do just fine to keep her time here interesting. She really had nothing better to do than spy on people, report her findings and pretend to be the good little assistant. That left plenty of time for amusement. Being nocternal by nature she had plenty of time on her hands, and she was able to take naps whenever she found nothing better to do durring the day. But at night.. she vaguely wondered how easily it would be to get into the Slytherin dorms.
"Oh good, I could use some excitement in my life." she spoke in her sweet and innocent voice that was the exact opposite of how it was meant.
