Whenever he entered his apartment last night, he let his anger out. Once he woke up, which was later than he usually did, Ross slowly sat up. He had a headache and his chest still hurt. His clothes were wrinkled because he hadn't bothered to even change into his pajamas last night.
Not caring, Ross found his way to the kitchen and noticed that he left the bottle of firewhiskey on the counter. Once he saw that, the memories of last night flooded his memory.
Danny had chose a complete stranger over him. In fact, she let him kiss her! He didn't care that the promise was broken. Ross could have lived with that, but he was angry with himself. He should had stepped in just before he kissed her the first time. Ross could have stopped it all. Plus, it didn't help that he did fall for her.
Remembering this Ross broke a glass near him. He let the glass fall into the sink. He didn't care. He by passed his living room that was in a mess. His hunger had left him and Ross headed back to his bed. There was no use in him trying to go out today. He didn't feel like it. Kicking a book that was in his way, Ross re-entered his bedroom before crashing on his bed again.

If Danny were the kind to hold grudges, she would not have gone to Ross at all, and certainly not so soon. He really was lucky that she was such a tomboy in most aspects and far more forgiving than she really should have been.
It was fairly late in the day when she finally walked to Ross' apartment... all twenty feet away the door was. She had been occupied with someone else, after all.
She knocked on his door, pulling her hair back into a pony tail while she waited. Deciding that he was taking too long, she pulled out her own key to his apartment and unlocked the door.
"Ross?" She asked, her eyes scanning over the disaster area the living room now was. What in the world had happened? It looked like a tornado had raged through the room. Was the whole apartment like this?
"Ross, where are you?"

He heard a faint knock on the door. Ross was not getting up. Maybe soon they would go away because he didn't want to interact with anyone. He pulled the covers over his head. The world just needed to disappear. Why did he have such a hard time with girls? Maybe one night he would go out and have a few drinks and meet some other girl. He could possibly get over Danny.
What would become of their friendship? Ross didn't think about that, and he didn't want to think about it. He heard his name being called, but he didn't answer. He couldn't face the voice. Ross could not face her. His anger could have risen again or he could do something he didn't want to do. Cry. Ross would not cry over her. There was no sense in it.

Danny's heart started to race when he wouldn't answer, and given the state of the place, she was worried. Had someone broken in? Was Ross hurt?
"Ross!" She yelled, going into the kitchen, which was the next closest room. It wasn't as bad, but in a similar state of disarray. Merlin, she should have come home with him.
She ran into his bedroom and prayed that she'd find a live body on that blanket. "Ross!" She yelled, pulling the covers down.
He was... he was fine. "You are such a prick!" She said a moment later, and hit his arm. "You scared me. What the hell happened?"

She wasn't going to give up. Why did she have to be serious when she said that they were going to have a talk? Ross didn't want to. He didn't want to face her, nor the world.
"Stop yelling," he finally mumbled. His head still hurt and her yelling wasn't helping any. Ross didn't have a tight grip on the sheets, so Danny could have pulled them down easily, which she did.
Ross didn't bother to answer when she called him a prick, but he did turn his head so he could look at her after she hit him. "There's no sense in hitting me," he said. In all honestly, Ross looked horrible. His face was paler than usual and he looked completely unkept.
"What do you mean what happened?"

"Your place is trashed. You look like you've been through a battle. I thought something happened to you." It did not occur to her that the scene last night could have had anything to do with this. And she had been happy today... she didn't realize that was all going to go down the drain in the next few minutes.
She stopped yelling, but her voice wasn't much softer. It was his fault he had a hang over.
"What happened to you, Ross?"

"Well, nothing did happen to me," said Ross. Except for you destroying me
She should have known that he could have done it, but obviously she had a lot of fun with Mr. Charmer last night. Danny looked happy. Ross should have been happy that she was, but he couldn't bring himself to feel that way. He was too lost.
"Nothing happened. I just felt like redecorating," he said before turning his head back towards the window in his room. The blinds were still shut, and he was thankful. "And I'm just tired. I don't feel all that well."

She had the strong urge to hit him again, but restrained herself. "Why are you being like this, Ross? Why did you trash your place?"
He had left the club angry. That was why. She sighed. "Ross, I wanted to talk to you last night. I chose you over Edmund. I didn't even want to dance with him in the first place! What right do you have to be angry with me?"

"Well it sure as hell didn't feel like you did," he said turning back to her. "I could see it in your eyes last night Danny. You were looking for fun and he made your night more enjoyable. Simple as that. And if you didn't want to dance with him in the first place, then why didn't you say anything?! He asked asked if he could cut in, and I wasn't going to tell him no because I wasn't going to be rude and it's not like we're dating or anything."
Ross sighed. "And besides it's not you I'm angry with! I'm angry with myself, okay?!"

Oh, she *really* wanted to hit him again. "I went there to have fun with you! You wanted to flirt with the bartender. Not only am I not angry about that, it's also not my fault that you can't talk to girls!
Screw his hangover. He was being unreasonable and it wasn't fair to her, so she was going to yell and be unfair to his hangover.
She hesitated though, at what he said next. "Angry at yourself?" She asked. "What does that even mean!?" She sighed and stood up. "Pull yourself together. I'm going to be in your living room, cleaning, and when you're ready to talk, you can come find me."

"Well, you were the one that said that I should try to flirt with the bartender!" Ross let out an aggravated sigh. "And I know that! I'm sorry I'm not your friend who has a way with words! It's always been hard for me to be able to not make a fool out of myself in front of girls. Ever since I was little. You know that!"
He raised his eyebrows. "Yes. I'm angry with myself for reasons I'm not ready to admit outloud." Ross mumbled the last part and wasn't quite sure if she heard. He gave a slight moan because he head started to hurt more. He put a hand to his head and just gave a slow nod. Ross would have to pull himself together, although he wasn't sure what they were going to talk about. He was not about to tell her he loved her.

She didn't respond. What did he expect her to say to that?
Leaving his room, she set a couple of spells to work in the living. One to repair what was broken, another to clean what was dirty, a third to organize things. WIth that accomplished, she went into the kitchen and just looked at the bottle of firewhiskey and the broken glass. What exactly had gone through his head last night? Why was he so angry that she danced with a guy?

Ross didn't expect her to respond to what he said. Once she left his room, it felt empty again. He sighed and rolled over in his bed. The memory of last night kept on replaying in his mind, and it didn't help that she was over.
He was going to have to be happy for her if she was happy, even if it killed him. Ross finally sat up, and decided that he was not even going to bother changing his clothes. He pulled himself out of bed and stumbled into the living room. Ross plopped down on the couch and put his head in his hands. Getting up from bed did not help his headache at all.

"Ready to talk?" She asked from the kitchen, having heard him. She walked into the living room.
"Muggle painkillers are all I have," she said, sitting next to him on the couch. "But they work wonders. Take them," she said, pushing a glass of water and two pills towards him. Even when she was seethingly angry at him, she still wanted to take care of him. He made it so difficult sometimes, though.
Whenever he gave the word, she had a whole speech she had been preparing while she cleaned.

Ross made a sound that was supposed to be a 'yes' before he felt the couch sink beside him. He took the pills that she had and the glass of water. Without looking at them, Ross swallowed them. Maybe they would work quickly and he could think coherently.
He finished off the glass of water and his stomach made a growling sound. Food was the last thing on his mind. "Thank you," he said. Ross studied her for a moment. "What are we supposed to be talking about?"

Danny was quiet, watching him and waiting until he was ready. She knew the pills would be slower than any potion, but it was all she had. They still worked pretty fast.
"We're going to talk about why you're so upset. Why me dancing with another guy caused you to do this. And why you walked out on me last night. The reason I went out last night was because I hadn't seen you in ages. I wanted to spend time with you. I didn't really expect him to kiss me, though, either time. And I'm sorry if that's what upset you. But more than anything else, I'm your best friend, Ross. I shouldn't have to explain myself to you. Are you jealous?" She asked, her eyes carfully on his. "Because I can help you get a girl. I promise, I can. I already apologized for dancing with him when I said I wouldn't, but you walked away, and I would have looked like a fool for telling him no at that point. And I was willing to leave the place after that... and you walked out on me. So I need you to tell me what's going on, or I'm going to keep assuming that you're angry with me."

Ross sighed. They had to talk about this, he knew that. He just wasn't sure if he could really tell her the reason behind it all. He carefully avoided the question of if he was jealous.
"I'm not being mean when I say this, but I don't want any help with a girl. Thank you however. And I did walk away. I walked away because I wanted you to have a chance to possibly be happy. I saw the look in your eyes Danny, and you can't deny that. You looked like you were enjoying yourself and if I was still there, then wouldn't I have been in the way?" Ross was trying to make sense. He was avoiding the fact that it hurt him.
"I'm not angry with you Danny. I couldn't ever be angry with you. Like I told you, I'm just angry with myself. That is all that is going on. I'm angry with myself, alright? There, you know now. That's why my living room looked like it did, and the kitchen. I just, I had to take my anger out on something."

Danny shook her head. It didn't make sense.
"Ross, you're... you're confusing me. Why are you so angry at yourself?" she sighed, remembering something he had said earlier. "And why can't you admit it out loud? To me? Ross, you can tell me anything. You should know that by now."
She didn't know how to help him or how to make things better. What if this was causing a rift between them, and she didn't even know what it was?

He knew that he was confusing. Ross couldn't tell her since she seemed happy. What would she think of him if he just blurted out that his mother was right? That he loved her more than he was really ready to admit to himself? Those words wouldn't even form to come out of his mouth.
"I'm angry with myself, because," Ross let his voice trail away and he slid a little closer to her. Now he was sitting where his leg was almost brushing hers. "because, I." He couldn't finish it. He couldn't verbalize it. Ross should have been able to tell her. She was his best friend. His eyes were locked with hers and he could have sworn he was lost.
He leaned in even more and kissed her. It wasn't rough. He kissed her gently, but it was full of emotion. Everything he didn't say, the kiss did.

Danny should not have been surprised, but she truly was. Maybe she just didn't notice it in Ross because she was always around him, and his behavior indicated nothing to her.
She took a sharp breath just before their lips met, and she ended up swallowing it.
It was hard to move away from that kiss, because it said so much. She always thought kissing Ross would be weird, but it wasn't at all. It felt... perfect.
This thought is what made her pull away. "Ross..."
