Sam's pretty nose wrinkled in dislike, "Goblin berry...that's not very flattering."
At Caleb's amused look which seemed to tease the words, "Why do you think I got it for you?" she narrowed her eyes at him, "Oh you're horrible to me." she said slapping his arm.
They were acting like friends, close friends, if you didn't know they were brother and sister the actions might have hinted at a more intimate nature, but the truth was he loved to tease her and she loved his teasing. He made her feel safe and protected the way a big brother should.

Ivan nodded to the professor when asked if one was his sisters. He saw the look Caleb gave him followed quickly by a self conscious look and Ivan thought to ease his discomfort as they both hung back a moment, "she told me your ..secret. it's okay I have a little sister too. I understand."

"She told you?" Caleb asked rasiing an eyebrow, that was strange he knew that Sam was trying to keep it a secret so the fact she had spilled did surprise him but he quirked a half grin and nodded, so they shared being a big brother that was something and he liked Ivan more.

Ivan nodded, "Yes. I don't know why she wants it a secret but I will not say anything." He wondered why she would keep her brother a secret, he seemed like a good man and didn't think it made much sense. He was proud of his own sister but then she kept her secrets too. Maybe every family had their reasons for keeping secrets. But for the life of Ivan he couldn't figure out why she'd want to keep Caleb a secret when they were obviously close.

Caleb knew why Sam wanted to keep him a secret, and he couldn't fault her, not after what he knew of her previous house situation, so she wanted a normal last two years of school and no one to pretend they liked her because of him, he was fairly certain people would pretend to like her for other reasons, but he wouldn't destroy her hopes.

Ivan turned then and headed after Samantha still holding both cauldrons with ease. He kept slightly in line behind her since he had no idea where they were going. But he wasn't in any hurry to get anywhere so he just followed along with the group.

Caleb watched the boy run off in front of him and sighed, he hadn't even a chance to take Sam's cauldron not that it mattered he thought it was a good sign of character indeed that the boy was willing to carry Sam's things.
