Dear Ted,
I need you to meet me at the Hog's Head. Don't tell anyone where you're going or who you're meeting with. I need to speak to you. It's important. Please.
Narcissa Black
Narcissa couldn't believe that she was sneaking away from school. Sneaking away from Bella, in order to talk to Ted Tonks. She would never do anything like this, but it was for Andi. Cissa would do anything she could to keep her sister happy.
She knew that Ted wouldn't do something like this. Plus, she put two and two together once the incident with Ted, and the glances between Bella and Rabastian at dinner several nights ago. That was a good thing about sitting back and observing. Narcissa wasn't as dumb as she may have looked.
Dressing in different robes than her school ones, she disappeared from the castle with luck and headed straight for the Hog's Head. It was the one place that she wouldn't usually go and she could hide there.
Taking a seat at a table she tried to ignore what was around her and waited patiently for Ted. She only hoped that he would show.

Ted had no intention of going to see Narcissa. Why would he? So he could get his head bitten off again? No thank you. He didn't need anyone telling him what a collassal idiot and jerk he was. He already knew. But he had done it for her, and that's all he needed to know. No one else had to understand it.
But what caused him to pause was that it was her sister that had contacted him. Yes, the sister Andi hoped to make ammends with, but a Black nontheless. She had been there at the restaurant, she had been on Bella's side. So what could she possibly have to say to him?
He arrived, later than she was probably expected, and he went straight to her when he spotted her. "I have to admit... I'm a little intrigued."

A look of relief washed over Narcissa as she saw Ted coming her way. For a bit there, she thought he wasn't coming. In a way, he couldn't blame him if he didn't. After all she was a Black and she didn't really defend Andi at the restaurant.
"I'm not going to bite your head off, I just want to talk to you," said Narcissa. "Take a seat. It's not jinxed." She raised on of her perfect eyebrows. "I know that I'm probably one of the last people you want to talk to. No, Bella did not send me here. If she knew I was here, she'd probably hex me. I came on my own accord. I just want you to know that."

She was making assurances like they were a list. He'd be lying if he hadn't thought of all of these, either, and he eyed the seat for a second before he sat down.
"Bellatrix should be thrilled," Ted said, meeting her eyes easily. "She got what she wanted out of all of this, didn't she? So it shouldn't make a difference whether you were here or not. What is this, Narcissa? A thank you? I'd rather not."
He had been in a foul mood, and never really came out of it, so he assumed the worst. Narcissa's request to see him could mean nothing good.

"There's no reason to take that tone with me," Narcissa said shortly. "And I have nothing to do with whatever happened. For your information, I'm on Andi's side. Although, if Bella knew that, I wouldn't have anything at all. I would lose everything. I don't agree with everything Bella says, that's why I keep quite. Andi had you. She had everything in the world she needed, and it was wonderful that she was happy. You should have heard the way she talked about you! It sounded like one of those muggle love stories! I enjoyed hearing her talk about you, because of the look on her face!"
Narcissa narrowed her eyes slightly. "And if you think that I would be behind something that would ruin her life, then you thought wrong," she said with a little bit of anger. "I want nothing more than for her to be happy. Although, I do know something is up. That night at dinner, I caught Bella and Rabastain looking at each other with a certain look. I knew then they were planning something, but I didn't know what. They didn't let me know anything! The next thing I know, Andi's world fell apart! You left her when she needed you most. I know that my parents dislike Andi, but she didn't care because she had you."
She sighed and shook her head. There was no telling if Ted would believe her or not, but she didn't care. "I'm not here to say thank you. That's far from it. I'm here to make things right. This has nothing to do with making things right in Bella's case, but for Andi's. What you did was a mistake. What you allowed to happen was a mistake. You should have stopped it."

Ted gaped for a moment. For someone so delicate and petite, he didn't expect quite the speech he was given. Then again, all of the Blacks were full of fire when given the chance.
He shook his head. "You were there. You were on Bella's side. Maybe you didn't say anything, but you. Were. There. And you want to talk to me about hearing the way she talks? You should have seen her cry for you. I'm not the only one who broke her heart. I wanted her to be happy. Bellatrix wanted her imprisoned..." he faltered, considering this. "Besides, she's still involved with Rabastan."

"I made my amends Tonks," said Narcissa. "I couldn't have every well spoke up and said something for Andi at dinner! Although, I did try to get Bella to stop and go back to the table!" She shook her head again. She knew that Andi cried over them, and she regretted that, however she did make amends, and that was what counted.
"Involved with Rabastan!? Are you off your rocker!? She has nothing to do with Rabastan! I wouldn't let her anyway! He's the one that hurt her first, much like you hurt her. You made history repeat itself, although you meant more to her than Rabastan ever did. I was happy that she had found you, because I never saw her speak of someone like that. I'm not sure what Andi ever really saw in Rabastan, but I promise you she is not involved with him. He is the last person on her list. I want Andi to be happy again, and only you can do that Ted. Only you." Narcissa's voice changed to a more calm one.
"I don't care who your parents are. I'm not like my other sister. I would rather see Andi with you any day than see her the way she is now. Plus, I think you two are perfect for each other. You've got to try Ted."

This was quite a bit for Ted to process.
He sat back in his seat, choosing which point to bring up first. But there was only one question he had for her... and that needed to be addressed. "She's not involved with Rabastan. But he was there... when..." he sighed and stopped, the pieces not yet clicking into place for him. "What did he do to her?" He asked, looking up. "You said he hurt her. What happened?"

"He hurt her just like you did. She caught him kissing another girl while they were together. After that, Andi was a mess, but not in one near as bad as she is now." Now, it all clicked. The look between Bella and Rabastan. The blonde girl kissing Ted. It made sense. Why couldn't she have figured it out before. Bella wanted nothing more than to have Andi back, and she was going to try and do anything and everything she could. Rabastan would have been more than happy to help her out.

Ted shook his head.
"I didn't kiss Rita."
He looked up quickly. He hadn't meant to admit that, but he knew she had probably heard it. "Look... I..." It was hard to rationalize himself to a member of her family. The group that would understand.
"She got over him, didn't she? Lestrange, I mean."

So it was her. Now Narcissa knew a good person she could be sour too. However those thoughts quickly fled. "Yes, she got over him. But if you're thinking that she'll get over you the way she with him, then you are mistaken again. You were her world. The person that kept her going. You helped Andi become the person she is, excluding the crying mess. Ted, I can't let you give up that easily. She still loves you, with everything she has. You've got to try and make things right again. If you're worried that you're bad for her, then you shouldn't be worried, because you're not. I've never seen her so happy in my life."

She was making his rational fade. He blinked a couple of times, thinking over this.
"I can't give her anything, Narcissa," he said softly. "I can't offer her peace, safety, security... everything she should be promised. You can. Your world can. Some things are just not meant to be. And you all mean so much to her. I won't come inbetween that."
It wasn't about giving up. It killed him to let her go, but everything that had made sense about it was fading in his mind.

"You're not letting her go Tonks," Narcissa said sternly. "She needs you just as much as you need her. And don't try and deny that. I know better. You can give her everything in the world. Andi doesn't really belong in 'my world', as you put it. She's a rebel. She always has been. It fits her better. You can give her protection, a good place to stay, love, a place to feel like she's at home. Don't you see Ted, you are her home. You are her world. She belongs with you. If it's protection that you're really worried about, I can provide you both with that. That will not be a problem. If it's money you need, I can provide you both with that too."
Narcissa was going to do everything she could to make things right. "You are not coming inbetween anything between me and Andi. You two belong together, and I'm always going to be there whenever I am needed, but you have to be there for her. She needs somewhere to run to when she's frightened, or when she cannot sleep. You are that somewhere. Don't you get it?"

It was a while before Ted spoke, and when he did, he was unable to hide the pain in his voice.
"I should go."
Was that what he was reduced to now? Just walking out when he was confronted about these things? He didn't know how to rationalize anything anymore, to himself or to anyone else. And how on earth could he go back to Andi, after what he had said? He was tempted to tell Narcissa that he had just wanted to see if he could get Andi, and that he was done with her now, but he gave her credit for being smarter than that.

"No," said Narcissa. "No you shouldn't go, because all you're going to do is try to sit around and mope, just like she's doing." Forget that Narcissa was usually quiet and reserved, tonight she was demanding. "You are going to figure out a way to get her back. You need to, because if you don't then you're just ruining both of your lives. Understand? In a few days, I will arrange a meeting between you two, and by then, you should figure out what to say to her. You are not going to be a coward. I know for a fact you're not a coward. You're a fighter, and fighting is what you're going to do."

She had much more fight in her than he ever expected, and he had to respect her for that.
"She won't agree to see me," Ted said. "I said... some pretty terrible things to her. And why are you waiting a few days anyway?" He shouldn't have complained. Waiting a few days would give him time to remember why he was doing this.
Or it would make him doubt all of it... and it would make him pull her into his arms and apologize and promise her the world. But was that what was best for her?
Suddenly, he felt like Narcissa knew him better than she had a right to. He was a fighter, and what he had done to Andi was cowardly, and it was giving up.

"See? You're always looking on the bad side of things! You can't do that," said Narcissa. "Besides, who said I was telling her that it was you she was going to be meeting? I'm not that dumb. I figured that you'd be man enough to step up." She grew quite for a moment. "Hm. Good point. You're meeting with her tomorrow. I don't want to hear any excuses. You'll be at the school around say two o'clock. You will go to the Room of Requirement. I'm actually supposed to be meeting her there, but you are going in my place."
Narcissa knew that he would probably try to talk himself out of it but she wasn't going to let him. "I will meet you at the room of requirement before Andi will have time to get there. I'll walk with her upstairs, and then it's your turn. Simple as that."

"Trying to tell me I'm not man enough if I don't show up is not how to convince me," he told her quietly. He was already planning on not being there. He wanted to see her desperately, but he wouldn't be able to keep up any kind of pretenses if he did.
He shook his head. "No. Not tomorrow," he said. "In a few days, I will go. Maybe. Tomorrow, I will not."
It was too soon and he needed to give her time. Merlin knew he'd be a mess if she started crying.

Narcissa sighed. He was actually being sort of reasonable. Maybe it was too early. "Alright. I agree with you," she said. "But, you have to show up. I'll get her to meet you somewhere." She glanced him over. "Ted, you're miserable. She's miserable. You're going to have to make things right. Only you can. I know for a fact that Andi won't be the one to go to you."
Cissa leaned closer to the table. "I'm not going to force you to meet with her," she said in a softer tone. "I'll help you out anyway I can. I'm going to tell you that all the other family members want to attack you, but I know better. I've finally figured out what happened. You can't think that you're wrong for her, because that's the complete opposite. You're Andi's other half and you make her whole. You're the best thing for her. Don't let Rabastan intimidate you, nor Bella. Andi needs you, and you need her. Just keep that in mind, OK?"

Ted sighed. "And when your family finds out you're helping? Or worse, Malfoy? You know they'll find out, Narcissa."
Her family knew everything. He wouldn;t be surprised if there was someone here that would let word get back to her family.
But damn her for making so much sense. "Sometimes... sometimes you can love someone with everything you've got and still be wrong for them. In another lifetime, maybe... but maybe Andi and I just weren't meant to be."
