After the Ceremony

[Rafe Colby]

Rafe groaned inwardly. He had come all this way just for her, and now was being "escorted" to the headmaster with the help of this weenie little kid. It irked him. Why did people always have to get in the way?

Still, he kept walking along with them to the headmaster's office. "This really is a very charming old castle," he said, feigning interest. "Not as nice as the old chateau where Beauxbatons is, but still... nice. Very solid. You get the feeling that you could get lost in a corner of this castle so far away from everyone that no one would hear you scream."

"Rafe stop scaring him." and me for that matter, not that she was scared but she knew that he did things like that for a reason. Sure she was issuing a warning now lightly and in the manner of "friendship" but she wanted it to be clear that she wasn't going to accept any "mischief" Rafe had in mind. This was her new start and she wasn't going to let him mess it up.

[Seth Inophen]

Seth's eyebrows raised at Rafe's comment. What was wrong with this guy?

"Don't worry Sam," Seth laughed. "Rafe doesn't scare me." Seth said it in a light and humorus tone. But he did mean it.

[Rafe Colby]

Rafe widened his eyes innocently. "What? I'm not trying to scare him. I was just making conversation." He kept his voice deceptively light. "Seriously, though. I like this place. I bet there are lots of secret passages and things around here. Maybe we could explore some time, Sam. What do you think?" He gave her a wink.

[Samantha Montgomery]

She thought, his tricks were old and she wasn't naive, "We'll just have to see Rafe." she said a little tiredly. She wasn't expecting Rafe and he had thrown her for a loop.

[Nikita Long]

"Miss Montgomery Congratulations." Nikita said passing her in the hallway, " Are you off to the celebration now?" she asked knowing that each house would have a celebration in their own rooms most like and Sam would be the guest of honor for Slytherin.

[Samantha Montgomery]

Sam was unaware of any party or anything that might have been held in her honor and she was surprised, honored and surprised. Still she had a rather big bug to deal with first and running off to party didn't seem feasible. How she wished she could dump Rafe with Professor Long and hightail it to her party.

She wouldn'tve minded talking to Dumbledore about Rafe but she didn't think the man would listen, everyone loved Rafe, everyone smiled when he was around...the bloody bastard.

[Seth Inophen]

"Well Here we are!" Seth said all too cheerfully as they reached the enterance to Dumbledore's office. "Have fun, and good luck buddy," Seth smiled and patted Rafe on the shoulder.

Sam had to stop just short of laughing as they dropped him off, it was too amusing for her to see someone like Rafe escorted and clapped on the shoulder so dismissively like that. Sam's eyes twinkled, "Goodbye Rafe."

Rafe was highly annoyed at this turn of events. He had no desire to allow Samantha to walk away with this little twit. Seriously, who did this kid think he was? Rafe hated the knight in shining armor type. So interfering and annoying. They just never knew when it was time to leave well enough alone.

But he was stuck, he had no choice. Right now, he had to play by the rules and go into the Headmaster's office. But later... then he could plan his next move.

Pasting on that charming smile, he took Sam's hand in his and pressed it to his lips. As he did this, his eyes never left hers. "Well, until later, Sam. And it was good to meet you, Shane." He cast the other boy a very quick look to let him know that, in fact, it was not good to meet him.

Then he spoke the password he'd been given earlier and opened the door to the headmaster's office. His eyes did not leave Sam's until the door had closed behind him.

As the door closed on Rafe, Seth waited a minute before letting the spiteful smile slide off his face. He turned to Sam, an eyebrow raised. "Samantha, I don't mean to pry, but..." He pointed back toward the door. "Who the hell WAS that guy? And why do I have the feeling I'm gunna need to keep one eye open in my sleep from now on?"

Sam resisted the urge to wipe her hand after Rafe kissed it, but her expression didn't change until he was safely behind the door, then she released a breath and something cold came into her eyes, she sighed and turned towards Seth at his question, "Oh ....he's an old acquaintance...I'm sorry he was so rude..." when Seth mentioned keeping one eye open when he slept Sam wished she could dispel him of that notion, "Thank you for ...well what you did...thank you very much."

"Hey, what are friends for?" Seth asked, motioning toward the direction to the Slytherin Common room. "And I really don't mind the rudeness," it was refreshing, knowing that there was someone more cruel speaking than his father. "Well, I recall a certian professor reminding us that you have a party to get to..." Seth walked ahead of her a bit before turnign back. "Unless you actually wanted to visit your brother....."

Sam gave Seth a look as if to say that speaking to her brother would be a very bad thing at this moment, she grinned then took his hand and rushed them along to the Slytherin common room with a smile on her face laughing all the way, she was happy and excited to have been chosen champion.
