"All girls, hm?" Augustus said with a smile as he entered the chamber the four girls had gone into.
For his own reasons, he was looking forward to this tournament. Carnage, if he was lucky.
"How do you all feel? Nervous?"

Carlisle entered shortly after Augustus. "No need to plant feelings in the girls' heads." He gave a disapproving look to Augustus before turning his attention to the house champions. "You were all chosen for a reason. There's no need to feel anything but excited at the moment."

Augustus returned the disapproving look, but said nothing.
Yes, let them be excited. They should have their moment of happiness while they could.
Augustus took a seat against the wall, just watching for now.

Sam raised an eyebrow but kept her smile. When the judges entered she curtsied, first to Agustus and then to Carlisle. "Sir." she said to the first, "Professor" to the second. She was the epitome of respect and sought to set a good example for her house, bullocks that, she just wanted to give a good impression.

As the ceremony came to an end, Alastor waited and allowed Rookwood and Carlisle to enter the antechamber first. As he stood, he allowed his hand to brush against the secrecy sensor strapped tightly around his leg. Entering the antechamber he saw the excited contestants and couldn't help but sprout a smile which quickly evaporated as his eyes wandered across Augustus Rookwood.
Alastor didnt trust any of the unspeakables, hard to trust people who's job is to keep secrets. Resting his gaze once more upon the contestants he cleared his throat politely. "Congratulations contestants, I am eager for the tournament to begin, it should be interesting. I anticipate that even the great founders will be looking down upon this event."

Alice frowned the moment Samantha walked into the room. Even the appearance of the judges did not brighten it any. She knew that Frank was not seeing Sam, but she still did not like the girl, after all Frank WAS still giving her 'private' lessons. Alice was defiantly not happy. She stood with Maxi who was also giving Sam a cold look she realized. Then a thought occurred to her too. Maybe Sam went after all the guys that seemed to have close girl friends? It was only a theory but it crossed her mind. Samantha was most likely the kind of girl who got her kicks from stealing boys out from other girl's.
She was definitely going to have to beat Samantha, regardless of who won the tournament. As long as it wasn't Sam. Alice did manage a small smile to the charms professor who had always been nice, firm but nice. She respected him if nothing else. Then she continued to shoot daggers across the room at Sam. WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE HER?

Unjustly accused and unable to defend her case it was a moot point anyway because she didn't have to defend herself to anybody, not anymore, instead she returned plesant looks at Alice and Maxi as if smiling defiantly towards hostility, as if it amused her, and to be completely honest, it did.

Alice noticed Sam's suddenly smugly amused look aimed at Alice and Maxi. It only made her more hostile. She must think she's holier than thou to walk into our school and suddenly be the most popular girl with boys falling all over her and now champion of Slytherin. She had some nerve to look at her like that. And she wanted to be catty and wipe the smile off the girls smug little face.
Suddenly Alice realized how she was behaving... no.. she would not stoop to the girls' level. Alice was older, and most likely more talented, and... and it wasn't right to outright hate the girl. Even if she did, it wasn't right. At least.. she wasn't going to play the girls smug little game. She purposefully looked away and watched the doorway.

Samantha rolled her eyes, and how would Alice take it if she knew that Sam had no designs on her precious Frank? That she was behaving like a jealous twit? It would be a devastating revelation on the girl Sam knew but rolled her eyes inwardly, she really didn't care. She had no designs on any guy at Hogwarts, she wasn't even interested in guys really, not yet, she was still young enough to simply want girlfriends, ponies and puppies. Of course she had done her best to enchant the men around her before if only to appease her mother but those days were over.
Finally Sam waited for instructions as to what they were supposed to do now.

Alastor felt as if he were about to choke on the tension between the four young witches. Carefully scanning the facial features of each one, he could tell that there was a silent battle of wills going on in this antechamber.
Watching the silent exchange between Alice and Samantha, Moody stepped in between the two his eyes darting from one girl to the other. "I hope you two girls are mature enough to not let this petty squabble interfere with your performances in the tournament." His gaze settled onto Alice's and a small look of disappointment seemed to cross his features for a moment. "Especially you Miss Prewett."

Alice imediately felt ashamed and contrite. She was acting like a school girl twit and he was right of course. Alice wasn't afraid to admit to her own childishness. She should be better than that.... especially if she wanted to become an Auror like Moody one day. She couldn't let her personal feelings interfer in her actions or decisions.
Alice spoke up though, loud enough for Sam to hear as well. "Of course Mr. Moody, I will not dissapoint you." She meant it too... she respected the man that was a member of the order that she herself had just been accepted into, she knew he was an Auror as well and his opinion actually mattered to her, doubly so. She did not cast her eyes downwards though. She would meet any challenge head on, and she looked directly at Alastor Moody with a sharp nod to let him know that she meant it.

"Of course sir." she hadn't started this and she had no intention of continuing it unless Alice provoked her. Her smiling in turn of Alice's snide looks had been just that, Sam refusing to be riled. Truthfully she wasn't looking for trouble here, in fact she wouldn'tve minded being left alone for the rest of the year. Of course her being the Slytherin Champion somewhat overshadowed her desire for anomity.

Maxi heard Moody's comment and quickly let her face freeze into a smile. She liked Alice and Regina... It was Sam.
By this time, Maxi didn't even care if she won the whole tournament.
She just wanted to prove she was better than Sam.

Augustus caught all of the tension as well, and he watched quietly as he figured out that it was the Slytherin two of the other three seemed to hate.
It made him smile, and found that he had just picked a favorite in this little tournament, pointless as it was. He hoped the Slytherin won.
"Alastor, leave the girls be," he said. "The Goblet would not have chosen anyone willing to succumb to what amounts to a cat fight."

Sam didn't mind their hatred, in fact it toughened the skin and it hardened the heart. She was used to people hating her, though usually she had done something to warrent it whereas now she was being falsely accused but these girls would see that eventually, and if they didn't then who cared? Sam's ambitions were far more important than a ..."catfight"
She curtsied again to Agustus for his comment and looked the propper ammount of contrite but her mind was on the upcoming tournament, not how to smooth things over for jealous girls.

Alice put Sam on her mental ignore list and went about her own thoughts. She had better things to do than bicker with some little fifth year not worth her time or effort. The woman acted equally catty only another way. But Alice was a better person and she wasn't going to stoop that low any longer. She'd be nice to the girl if it made her teeth ache.
She shifted in her chair and put her head on her hand waiting to find out what they were supposed to do next.

Alastor kept his gaze on the four young champions as he responded to Rookwood's comment. "They might be champions Rookwood, but they are still young ladies. I've learned that if ya toss a young, handsome wizard into the mix, even the most proper young witch will turn into a ravenous storm." A small grin towards the champions and he lightly patted Alice on the head.
"It seems you might have a touch of Fabian in you girlie. Maybe you'll follow along in his footsteps?" The words sounded almost hopeful as they left his mouth.

Sam's teeth ached from clenching her jaw but she had turned her head away from the rest of the champions and judges. A handsome young wizard? Turn *her* into a ravenous storm. Oh she was livid. She was not some little dainty thing that traipsed about because her man said so. She wasn't some pea-brained imbecile that couldn't function emotionally because her boytoy wasn’t as attentive as she liked. She didn’t have any boytoys and she preferred it that way. If she could, she would die happily unmarried, unfettered with a man, and she would never know the deep curse of love.
Let the Alices and the Maxis of the words take all the men and indulge in their romantic sprees. Let the Lyras and Lanis of the world enjoy their independent copulations. Let any female fall all over themselves for a man, but leave her alone. Leave her to her ambitions and her newly found peace. Why would she want to complicate that?

Alice smiled a bit at his comments, especially the last. But he had been right.. somehow he instinctively must have known that boys were involved. But it was the comment about her cousin Fabian that made her smile.. yes she had been compared to him on many occasions. She hadn't seen him in a long while but she loved him nonetheless. "I've been told that once or twice, and I certainly intend to." It was a simple truth and she made no mistake to hide it from anyone.

Alastor beamed at the young Prewett as he leaned in close to whisper quietly into her ear. "Always remember...Constant Vigilance girl." Stepping back noticed the Hufflepuff champion standing not too far off. "Hrm...Miss Borale is it? So tell me what are your aspirations for a career once you leave these hallowed halls?" He stepped around Alice to get a better view of the young witch.
