Bek walked into the common room, carrying all her books for all her classes and yawned. She could always do her homework later, she thought as she looked over to the comfy chair by the blazing fire. She gave in and dropped her books unceramoniously by the chair, sitting down and looking deep into the fire.

Alice watched as Bek came into the common room, she was sure Bek hadn't noticed her sitting in a chair on the other side of the room. She'd been studying her charms book and yawned, stretching in the chair. She'd gotten done with her classes already for the day and she was tired of studying. "Hey Bek you look about like I feel..." She didn't mean to startle the girl but she wanted to let her know she was there.

Bek wasn't startled by Alice when she spoke to her. She instead looked up to her fellow house mate and smiled. "Exhausted?" Bek asked, cuz that is definatly how she felt. 6 years at Hogwarts, these classes were finally taking their toll on her.

"Yeah these NEWTs are gonna be a killer this year, and it doesn't help that so many new professors are going over lower grade stuff and not having an advanced assignment for the rest of us. Means we have to do more self study to get ready for the tests. I'm exhausted."
Alice moved her book out of the way as if indicating she was done studying charms for the night now that she had some company. "So I bet your excited that your friend Maxi got picked for the tournament eh?"

"You have no clue how hard it'll be cheering for you and Max at the same time!" Bek laughed good naturedly. Of course, Alice was her House champion and Bek hoped she would win. But she hoped the exact same for Maxi.
"Are you excited?" Bek asked Alice.

"yes very, but.. I'm also very nervous. It's just been a very long day.. and Frank is not talking to me again." She sighed since right after the ceremony Frank had been ignoring her again and though Alice really didn't want to talk about it just yet, she only mentioned it to Bek to explain part of her exhaustion. "then of course the ceremony and my cousin Andi got her heart broken.. and... for all the joy of being chosen as a champion, I've had a miserable all around day."

"Oh, we all have days like that," Bek said simpathetically. "Why isn't Frank talking to you! Last I saw you two was at the ceremony and, well..." Bek blushed, not really meaning to bring up how she had seen them at the ceremony. "Well, lets just say you two were pretty close."

"Lets just say that he's avoiding me.. but then again I really don't want to talk to him either. He's being an insensitive git. He misunderstood something and didn't even give me a chance to explain he just stormed off and then when I found him again he didn't even try.. He doesn't trust me and now he'll never know what happened. He hurt me and accused me of... " she trailed off the scene had blurred for her in her mind, just like her eyes started to blur now too. She knew tears were falling now and she tried to wipe them away, she was tired, and angry and hurt...

Bek understood Alice perfectly. She was basically rthe queen of trafficing the feelings-based wars between her best friends Maxi and Seth.
She stood up and went to sit next to Alice. "It's Okay Alice," Bek said soothingly, patting her back. "It'll be okay, you'll see. Everything turns out for the best."

"I don't know if it will this time, he insinuated that I was.. a slag. That I would intentionally or otherwise go behind his back and not only use him, but that I would move on to some other guy the same night as I was showing an interest in him." She knew she was putting it mildly, but her head hurt and she couldn't find the words that branded heated fire of anger through her mind. "I'm not like that and if anyone, he should have known. But no he just accused me and insinuted things that really hurt. If he thinks I'm capable of that than maybe he doesn't really even know me. But it's obviously he doesn't trust me, and doesn't think that highly of me in the first place." A new thought occurred to her then, "Maybe he is just using me for that very reason, if he thinks I'm easy. You know he's giving private tutoring lessons to that Slytherin champion, Sam. Maybe I was just.. someone easy for him because I was almost throwing myself at him. Oh Bek... I can't bear to think about it!" She was even angrier than before and even more hurt.

Sin walked into the common room and waved to Bek and Alice. He thought about sitting next to the girls but Alice was looking pretty upset and he wasn't sure he wanted to be a pseudo-target for her anger if she got a mind to need a punching bag. So instead he stood there hesitating between joining them or sitting by himself... finally he decided to just join them and take the hits if they were coming. It was better than sitting alone for no good reason. "Hey Bek.... Alice..."

"Oh Alice," Bek sighed, pulling her close to comfort her more. "That's horrible, I'm sorry," she didn't know what else to say. Alice was so distraught that Bek was considering going to Frank and hitting him for hurting Alice so deeply. But of course, she'd probably have to hear his side as well...
As Sin walked over, Bek noticed how hesitent he was in joining the girls. Bek didn't blame him. She herself was waiting for the sad part to end so that she would be ready for the angry part. It was comming soon though, Bek knew that. "Hi Sin," Bek said, still patting Alice's back.

He frowned wondering if Alice was more angry or sad... the look on her face right now seemed a mixture. He looked at Bek though and tried to give her a sympathetic smile. He was thinking of asking her to the dance but now didn't seem like the best time with Alice so upset. "You and Frank okay?" he'd seem them at the ceremony all lovey dovey and now she was upset.. that usually only meant a relationship problem.. at least coming from the infallible Alice. He looked at Bek for an answer since Alice was starting to look more angry by the moment. He moved to sit down on the other side of Bek.. it was safer to be out of hitting range. He knew Alice had a temper when something managed to actually get her upset, thought it wasn't often.

Bek turned to Sin and shook her head slowly at the mention of Frank's name. She smiled back at him, but bit her lip, trying to think of what she could do or say to help Alice.

Sin caught Bek's motion and frowned... oh guess not... hrm.. he was definatly not good at relationship things.. he felt awkward especially being the only guy in this conversation and now knowing he was more likely to be the only target in the room if she got a mind to need one.
"Hey Alice, umm.. so what things are you going to work on for the first task, I mean did they tell you anything or how do you know what to work on?" He was doing what seemed the best option at the moment and that was refocusing the conversation to something else. It was a natural male instinct to find a diversion for her attention instead of facing it head on. He liked risks but he wasn't stupid either.

Alice welcomed the change of subject like a lifeline, he was smarter than he seemed apparently and she was grateful. It was easier to talk about something else and just pretend the rest didn't exist.. at least for now until she was ready to face the rest again.
"I don't know... they didn't really say anything yet. I guess we'll all find out at the same time when the trials start. For right now I'm trying to work on the things that I'm the weakest in, or need to work on most. I think that's the best tactic, and keep my skills rounded."

Thank you Sin! Bek thought, as Sin diverted the topic and Alice took the change of subject welcomely. As Alice explained her tactic for preparing for the tournament, Bek glanced at Sin next to her and smiled, sending him her silent thank you.
"Well if you'd like any help..." Bek said. "I don't mind acting as a target or anything if you need to practice."

"Thanks Bek... actually I'd like that, it would be nice to have someone to help me. As long as you promise to not go easy on me.. I need as good a challenge as you can throw me if I'm going to survive these tasks with my head on straight. I don't wanna end up like Headless Nick!" She almost laughed... almost. Instead she half sighed, it was hard to laugh without Frank to share it with. "How are you with magical creatures? It's one of my weaker subjects and I could use someone to help me study it."

Bek smiled. She loved her Care of Magical Creatures class. "It's my best subjest," Bek said. "I'd be happy to help you study."

"Thanks Bek, I appreciate that. I guess I never really focused on that since it isn't likely to help me as much as an Auror if I get accepted to become one after I graduate. But for these kinds of tasks you just never know what is going to be thrown at you. And I just want to be prepared." Alice wasn't sure she'd ever be able to focus for the tasks now that she and Frank were arguing. But she was going to do her best to focus on something, even if it was studying. She just felt so lost. Damn Frank for being such a git, he had to go and ruin everything.
