Edmund closed his eyes, silently cursing Claire's name. What was wrong with him? He had a perfectly beautiful, desirable, and willing woman right here and he had to ruin it with thoughts of Claire. The one woman who didn't want him.
He sighed, but he didn't move just yet. "Joanne... I'm sorry. I don't know why I said that... it just slipped out. Come on, we can still have fun..."

She wasn't going to give in. "No," Joanne said firmly again. "We won't be having any fun. It's over with." There was no way that Edmund was going to be changing her mind. "Just go. Maybe you should go back to that woman." Part of voice sounded cold, but she didn't care. It was over for her and she was just going to let him go.

Edmund swore under his breath. Damn Claire. What was it going to take to get her out of his head? "Fine," he said, sitting up. He bent down to pick up his shirt and put it back on. When he turned back to her, all of his sophisticated charm was stripped away. What was left was honest, genuine regret. "Look... for what it's worth... I had a great time tonight. I'm sorry."
He really meant it, too... and not just because his mistake had ruined his chances with her. Although he knew Joanne didn't love him or anything, it still had to injure her pride to hear him speak another woman's name while he kissed her.
He stood up and headed for the door, feeling more frustrated than ever. What was Claire doing to himmm... rejected by two women in one night! It was humiliating.

Not once had anyone ever murmured someone else's name while she was with them. Of course, maybe their minds were to set on getting what they needed and going on with their lives. However, Edmund seemed to have someone else on his mind and she was not going to go through the night and have him continue to murmur some other woman's name. That wasn't something she did.
Overall, her night was fun she did have to give him that credit. Joanne didn't comment verbally when he apologized, she just gave a nod. She pushed up the straps to her dress and stood up. When he walked out, Joanne sank back on the couch with a sigh.
