Edmund recognized the glazed-over look in her eyes, and knew he almost had her just where he wanted her. But he continued to play it cool. He touched her lightly as they danced; his fingers just barely brushing against her skin at times, while his eyes continued to stare right into her. As the dance neared its end, he pulled her very close to him, with one hand on the small of her back and the other at the nape of her neck. His face was just inches from hers, so that she could feel his warm breath against her skin. The music stopped and the little piano and its player vanished; the spell couldn't hold any longer. Slowly, Edmund moved in, closing his eyes and pressing a heated kiss to her lips.

Joanne would have lied if she said that she didn't have chill bumps rise on her arms. Edmund did know what he was doing, and she had become weak. Normally, she could stand up to a guy and make him bend for her, but now the tables were turned. Honestly, Joanne didn't mind it. It was pleasant, and she knew that Edmund knew that he was getting to her.
She moved along with him as they moved about the floor, and she responded to his touch. Joanne hid her smile as he pulled her closer to him. Her breathing had become a little rigid, but not too much. She couldn't help herself as he leaned in, because she tilted her head up wards so she could have met him partially. Joanne kissed him back without hesitation, but she made sure she didn't seem desperate.

Edmund deepened the kiss, his arms bringing her even closer to him. She was now pressed up against him and he felt himself responding. All thoughts of Claire flew out the window, and he was totally focused on the woman in his arms.
When he finally pulled away, he looked down at her, his eyes gleaming. "Shall we take this little party to a more... private location?" he inquired.

She allowed herself to press fully against him. Edmund was good, she had to hand him that. He knew what he was doing, and his extra charm helped greatly. Joanne responded to him without hesitation.
Whenever he pulled away, Joanne started to catch her breath, but she didn't move away from him. "Hm, that would be good idea," she whispered looking up at him.

It occurred to Edmund once again that it really would be a good idea to get an apartment in town for occasions such as this. The trouble was that the only good apartment building was in the Black Cat apartments, and the close proximity of Claire made that an inconvenient choice. But it was a pain to bring his conquests all the way to his house, and he really didn't care for the cheap rooms above the Hog's Head and the Three Broomsticks. Still, any port in a storm...
"My place is a bit far," he said, keeping his voice low and husky. He reached over and tucked a hair behind her ear. "Do you have a place nearby? Or should I just rent a room upstairs?"

Every time he spoke, Joanne would get chill bumps to appear on her skin. At the mention of his place being too far, she thought about her place, but let him finish speaking before she did. Joanne tilted her head slightly toward his hand as he tucked hair behind her ear.
"My apartment is not too far. I live on the second floor. There's no one but me that stays there now."

"You're in the Black Cat Apartments?" he guessed. Well, at least it was the second floor. There was at least a fairly decent chance he wouldn't run into Claire. It seemed only fitting that his night should begin and end at the Black Cat Apartments.
"That sounds great," he said quickly."Let's go. Shall we apparate?"

"Yes. The Black Cat Apartments," Joanne said. "And apparating is fine with me." As much as Edmund was a distraction, she forced her mind to think about her aparment as her hands were still on him. Without another word, she apparated to her apartment.

They were now standing outside her apartment, in the hallway. Before she could even open the door to her apartment, Edmund pushed her against the door and kissed her deeply. Although he knew that she wasn’t on the same floor as Claire, he still almost hoped she would walk by and find them there, kissing in the hallway like two teenagers in love.

Joanne had just put her keys into the lock and turned the key to unlock the door, however before she was able to put her hand on the door she felt Edmund push her against the door. She forgot about opening her door because his kiss pushed all thoughts from her head and her arms went around his neck. Joanne kissed him back just as deeply and with a bit of hunger.

Edmund kissed her deeply, allowing his hands to roam expertly over her body. With one hand, he reached around her and turned the door handle, slowly easing the door open. He walked her backwards into the room, never breaking their kiss. Once they were safely inside, he kicked the door shut with one leg, then led her over to the sofa. The apartment could have been falling down around them and he wouldn't have noticed, he was so entirely wrapped up in her.

Joanne trusted him not to run her into anything. She knew where everything was in her apartment was, but at the moment, Edmund had chased everything in her mind away. So, she had to trust him to lead her backwards.
Her arms never left from around his neck, and she felt her legs hit the sofa and she softly landed on it, bringing him with her.

Edmund gently eased her down onto the sofa and positioned himself on top of her. He broke the kiss for only a moment, while he loosened several of the buttons at his collar. She was dressed in a muggle dress with an open neck and thin straps, so he had easy access to her neck. He kissed her again, then slid down, making a trail of hisses down her bare throat and shoulder.

She tilted her head back to allow him better access to her neck. Joanne moved her arms from his neck, down his arms. She moved her hands back up his arms to his hair. Sighing she let her hands go as far as she could reach down his back to and pulled on his shirt to attempt to pull it off of him. Joanne gave a small shudder as his lips touched her shoulder, but pulled his shirt up a little but she abandoned it for a second to go back to his hair.

Edmund moaned softly against her skin, then pulled back slightly to pull off his shirt and toss it on the floor. He smiled down at her, a seductive look in his blue eyes. He cupped her cheek gently with one hand, then picked up her hand and placed it on his bare chest.
"Have I mentioned how incredibly beautiful you are?" he said in a husky voice. He didn't need to compliment her at this point, but he did it anyway, realizing that it was true. Claire was almost forgotten.
Almost...

Joanne smiled back at him with her own seductive smile. Once he put her hand on his chest, she gently ran her hand down his chest, then back up his back. She made sure that her touch was gentle, yet meaningful.
"Thank you," she said in a whisper bringing her hand up to his face and tracing his jaw line. She smiled again before leaning up and kissing him again.

Edmund closed his eyes at her gentle touch on his face. When she kissed him again, he lowered himself down so that her head was resting on the arm of the sofa. He continued to kiss her lips for a while, then moved his mouth down her neck, this time stopping at her collarbone. With his hands, he started to slide the straps of her dress down her shoulders, allowing him to run his hands across a bare expanse of silky smooth skin. "Claire..." he murmured.

She was enjoying herself, there was no doubt about it. Edmund did know what he was doing. Joanne returned to running her hands through his hair. He had caused goosebumps to raise on her bare skin, however that all ended when she heard him murmured some woman's name.
Joanne removed her hands from his hair and put them on his shoulders, pushing him away from her. "What," she asked even though she knew what he said.

Edmund felt like he’d just been hit with a bucket of icy cold water when she pushed him away from her. Oh, hell… had he just said Claire’s name? He hadn’t even realized it. The name had just slipped out, as if it had a mind of its own.
Damn Claire.
“I said… I love your hair,” he said, knowing full well she would not be fooled. He just had to hope she was enjoying herself too much to care.

Joanne shook her head. Yes, she was enjoying herself, but she wasn't the kind of girl that would have kept going after he said someone else's name. "No," she said firmly. She wasn't going to let him go any further. The mood for her had been completely ruined. Joanne used one hand and pushed up her dress straps. "I think it's best if you get off me and leave." She was completely serious now that she had all of her thoughts back. Her night had been just blown to pieces.
