Caleb was running late for his own class which was disappointing in itself. He valued punctuality. He wouldn't have been late if it weren't for a disturbing owl he had recieved and then pondered over for a seemingly instantaneous twenty minutes.
Finally he reached his doors, "I apologize all." he said properly embarassed as he entered the classroom and went straight to his desk. He retrieved his roster and then called for attendance.

Amy walked in to the classroom, only to find it empty. The professor hadn't arrived yet, and Amy was slightly relieved. Exhaling slowly she took a seat in the second row. The classroom seemed sort of eerie since she was in there alone.
She carefully set her books and parchment on her desk, along with her quill. This class was one that she could concentrate in, and she was going to do her best.
Once the Professor entered, her attention shifted from her own thoughts to his entrance. Amy set up in her seat and waited on him to call attendance.

Hallien was running late, as usual. She'd left her previous class with plenty of time, of course, but as always, she had run into trouble along the way. It started when she realized she had forgotten her Arithmancy book and had to run back to Ravenclaw Tower to retrieve it. She actually managed to make it there without tripping or running into something. But she got cocky, which was something she should have known never to do.
It took her forever to find her arithmancy book. Somehow it was wedged in a corner next to her bed. While pulling it out, she flew backwards and crashed into her roommate's trunk, which fell over and spilled open. Now her roommate's things were now all over the floor. She tried to pick them all up and put them away neatly, but apparently, she had a practice snitch which had rolled all the way under her bed, where she couldn't reach.
Hallie crawled under the bed and got the ball out, but it turned out, there was a spiderweb under there, and she got the sticky strands stuck in her bushy hair. To make things worse, the spider itself landed on her glasses. Since Hallie was terrified of spiders, she screamed and flung her glasses off before scooting back out from under the bed. But now she didn't have her glasses... and she couldn't see without them. So she used a summoning charm to bring the glasses to her, but the spider was still on them. Breathing very heavily, she used her wand to flick the spider off of her glasses. Then she stood up and squashed the spider with her heavy shoes.
Finally, she was able to leave the dormitory and she started running toward class. Only, she ran into a gang of Slytherins, who started picking on her. Normally she would ignore them, but one of them stole her glasses and ran off down the hall with them. She had no choice but to chase him... but when she wasn't wearing her glasses, she was clumsier than ever. She knocked over a suit of armor with a loud crash, then tripped and went flying right into the Slytherin boy. They both fell forwards, and the boy fell right on top of her glasses, crushing them.
The Slytheirin boy was laughing as she gathered up the pieces of her glasses and tapped them with her wand, using the best repairing spell she knew. The glasses were fixed, if a little uneven.
Finally, she was able to head to class. She was relieved, as she walked into the room, to see that the professor had only just arrived. "Sorry I'm late, Professor," she said apologetically as she slid into her seat.

He was checking off names for those who were present and set his roster down. He opened his mouth to say something to Hallie but promptly closed it, the girl looked a mess, but Caleb wouldn't embarass her by asking if she was alright, he merely nodded in her direction.
Then, all smiles, he asked for everyone's assignments.

Adele had been there early, arriving just before Amy had, and it struck her odd that the teacher was not there. Then again, the teacher himself usually struck her odd.
She was quiet when he finally came in, turning in her assignment when it was asked for. It was rather long, and went into incredible detail, but mostly touched on the significance of the numbers, and only vaguely applied them to herself. It was more an essay of how understanding the numbers and their meanings influenced a person's life rather than the numbers themselves.
She took a seat near the middle on the room, and waited for the class to begin.

Caleb grinned rakishly at her, "I look forward to reading this Miss Graham", he had the audacity to wink, but afterwards he straightened and collected everyone's papers he set them on his desk with a thump and put his hands in his pockets as he leaned against it. "Alright then, for today I want you all to think of the things that are most important to you. Perhaps it's your Owl, perhaps it's your little brother, perhaps it's your favorite professor..." he said looking momentarily hopeful at the class then smiling good naturedly, " Make a list of ten of these things, if the object doesn't have a name, say for instance you value your cauldron over any other thing, you can simply write down cauldron. Then I want you to add up the numbers for those items and see how they relate to your own numbers. You may be surprised to find that certain number combinations often work best to a person's advantage. It may be why you fly best on an older model broom than a new one. Take into consideration your wand even, and the numbers you would get if you spelled out it's characteristics, those numbers mix with yours and it's a match made in heaven."

Caleb nodded to his students, "You have until the end of class, those papers will be due next week if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask."
When the class was over he dismissed the students, "Have a plesant week I'll see you next time."
