Arthur needed a break. He'd been working all morning and afternoon on a case of malfunctioning muggle clocks all over London. The clocks had all been enchanted to run backwards. Some of the clocks were in muggles' homes, while others were, unfortunately, in very prominent locations. Even Big Ben itself had been hit with the charm. Between his department and the obliviators, the ministry had been very busy today.
Now that all the clocks had been fixed, Arthur was back in the office, trying to look over some evidence that might help them figure out who had done it. He'd spent the last few hours examining a small muggle clock that seemed to periodically let out a loud ringing noise. He still couldn't quite figure out why.
But now he really needed to get away from it all. He headed to the kitchen area and went straight to the coffee pot to fill his cup. With a wave of his wand, the coffee pot levitated up and poured a perfect cup of coffee into his cup, then began to add just the perfect amount of cream and sugar.
Once this was done, he walked over to one of the tables and sat down for a few minutes. He just couldn't go back to his office... not yet.

Ted had been bored in the Auror office. He was caught up on all of the paperwork he needed to do, and he hadn't been given a new assignment since he got back a couple of weeks ago. While he loved all the time to spend with Andi, he was kind of restless, too, and he wanted to get back into gear.
Since the Auror office was practically dead, he had decided he would get a cup of coffee, and then probably just head home. There was no point in being here if there was nothing to do.
"Arthur," he said, sort of surprised when he came into the kitchen area. "You must have needed to get away just as badly as I did."

Amelia was in need of a lunch break. She was so rushed this morning that she forgot to eat breakfast and now her stomach was rumbling. Luckily she had brought a lunch in today, resisting the urge to eat it as soon as she left the Floo Network this morning. She walked into the kitchen and saw she was not the only one there. "Hello boys. How's the day treating you?" She walked across the room and pulled open the refrigerator, scanning for the little brown bag with her name scrawled on the front.

Arthur glanced up when Ted walked in. "Oh, hi, Ted," he greeted him. "Yeah, I really needed a break.... the department has been swamped this week. Have you heard about the clock incident? All over Muggle London? We've been working over time to fix it, and stretching the Obliviators to the limit..." He sighed in exasperation. "Anyway, have a seat. I could use a friendly face about now."
As Amelia walked into the room, he nodded at her. "Good afternoon, Amelia," he called. "Some week, huh?"

Ted had taken a seat, relaxing almost instantly. He nodded to Amelia when she entered, and gave her a friendly smile, before sympathizing with Arthur. "I did hear about the clocks. Rather brilliant, if you ask me. I mean, in a highly disruptive, illegal way, but still. Well executed. Or terribly executed, depending on what side you're standing on. Do you know who did it yet?"

She found her lunchbag shoved into the back of the refrigerator and pulled it out, eavesdropping on the men's conversation. They were talking about the confunded clocks, Arthur's department. Amelia had heard the commotion the clocks had caused, and the growing number of muggles having their memories adjusted. "I bet you've been busy Arthur. What an awful disturbance." She hoped Arthur had an answer for Ted, she too wanted to know who had been behind it.

(I could have sworn I answered this one before)
Arthur looked up at Amelia and smiled slightly. "Yes, we've been quite busy in the department today... I needed a break before I went mad." He paused to take a sip of his coffee for a moment, and looked from Ted to Amelia and back. "Unfortunately, we don't have any leads whatsoever. We're probably going to need to call in both of your departments for assistance. It seems pretty clear that this was a carefully coordinated event, planned by multiple people. We just can't figure out why, or what purpose it served, not to mention who would want to do such a thing? At first we thought it was just a simple prank, but due to the large numbers of clocks affected, we're inclined to think it a bit more menacing than that."
