Maxi came into the common room, addressed the few people that were there with a nod, and then sat in a chair, her feat hanging over the back and her head dangling off the seat. Then she pulled out a magazine and began to read.

Robin walked down from her dormitory, carrying a load of books in her arms. She was still working frantically on the essay for Dueling, and she was beginning to think she'd never finish. There weren't a whole lot of people in the common room just then, so she was hopeful that she could get some work done.
Choosing a spot facing away from the window (which would only distract her), Robin sat down and arranged her books around her for easy access. While she was doing this, she spotted a girl sitting nearby, lounging in a chair and reading a magazine. She gave a little laugh. "I wish could be doing that right now," she commented wistfully.

"Well, I SHOULD be doing that right now," Maxi smiled. She flipped over in her seat and sat up, letting all the blood that rushed to her head slowly go back to the rest of her body. Maxi looked at the books surrounding the girl and winced at the thought of the homework she had waiting for her in her dormatory.
"I'm Maxi," she said th the girl, flipping her blonde hair back and holding out her hand. "Maxi Borale."

Robin looked up from the stack of books. Smiling, she took the girl's hand. "Hi, Maxi. Nice to meet you. I'm Robin Slater." It was strange to her how she could be in the same house as this girl and never really talked to her before. It wasn't like she was that popular or anything. Well, except for her friendship with James Potter.... but he was a Gryffindor.
"I usually put stuff off to the last minute, too," she agreed. "I'm trying not to do that this time. It always leads to trouble."

"It does, doesn't it," Maxi said. "But somehow it always ends up done. I may not have slept the night before class...." she laughed, remembering many sleepless nights last year. She looked at her magazine and decided it could wait.
"What year are you in?" Maxi asked, surprised she hadn't seen Robin before.
