[Severus Snape]

Severus entered the common room with caution. Most of Slytherin was still buzzing about how that Holmes girl landed them with NEGATIVE points, and how Severus dodged the, what was being called 'the Damned Essay' there were several copies of the right books and Severus didn't see why he would be targeted as much as the other girl, he just knew when to open and shut his mouth, the other girl hadn't! He sighed at the injustice of it...the Unfairness of it... How could anyone think she was 'cool' for what she did and dislike Severus for dodging what few had? he cursed his unlucky luck and hoped he wouldn't be cornered in the common room or the dorm.

[Rabastan Lestrange]

"Looks like you've got some free time on your hands," Rabastan said, hands in the pockets of his robes. He was leaning against the wall in the too-easy-too-cool way he had perfected. He hadn't intended on cornering the boy, but when the opportunity presented itself, he had to take it. It wasn't even about the essay... he was happy to do the essay for the tongue lashing the professor had given the Gryffindor girl. No, it was something else Rabastan had noticed.

Severus slumped his shoulders,
'great, I hope he doesn't expect me to do his work for him like Lucius tried doing.' he turned his head toward the 'too cool' Rabastan and asked "Free do do what?" in a deadpan that could almost sound intiminating...if he wasn't so young.

[Rabastan Lestrange]

Rabastan shrugged. "Whatever you Slytherin heart desires, I imagine. What will you do with all of your free time?"

He pushed away from the wall, taking a couple steps towards the younger boy. "Find a way to get into Ravenclaw's common room? I can make it easy for you. I know the password... sixth year girl gave it to me the other day."

"Why would I want to go in there?" Severus was suspicious. His mind screamed TRAP and lamely set up trap, but nonetheless... He shifted his bag on his shoulder again and decided he might as well make himself comfortable. If the older boy wanted to pick his brain, he was going to. He flopped down on a sturdy looking chair, and made the mental note not to flop again in the common room , the chairs were elegant and stiff.
"Why would I care if a Sixth year anything gave you all the passwords in school?" he asked snidely. He was pushing it and he hoped he hadn't hit the line yet.

"That's a good question," Rabastan said. "Why would you want to get into the Ravenclaw common room? It wouldn't have anything to do with a girl, would it?"

He wasn't trying to be subtle, in fact, he wanted to be blunt about it, and he wanted the boy to own up to it. Granted, he shouldn't be talking about dating outside of the house... ha! He of all people. But people were talking, or would be soon.

Severus's eyes darkened. "I don't have to sneak anywhere to talk to her." he felt insulted, but couldn't understand why he felt so offended by Slytherin's ladies man.
He was, however, still in turmoil of what he should do in her regard. She was so...wonderful, and yet removed. His heart felt bitten by the feeling it should end.
"What are you suggesting anyway?" He wondered if he had maybe a solution to what he should do, what harm could come from listening to him anyway?

"Suggesting?" Rabastan asked. "You mean... advice?" Well, be me, he wanted to say, but kept quiet. Instead, he shrugged.

"I am obviously not going to condemn you for it. That'd be rather hypocritical of me, wouldn't it?" He said, moving and taking a relaxed position in a seat. "But you should consider what you're getting yourself into. People are talking, you know. And while I think that's the sign of a job well done, I imagine there are many who would disagree."

A job well done? well done what? Severus hadn't figured out the complete picture of what exactly Rabastan was talking about. He knew Older boys that had more than one girl hanging on their every word was something to be admired, He thought it had more to do with command and control over the situation, not how well a snog he could give. He was a little naive at that point.
"What sort of talk?" He couldn't afford enemies he had too many already. Something about him sparked instant hate and dislike and he would be damned if he didn't give as good as he got.

Rabastan just raised his eyebrows. Maybe he had given Severus too much credit for being clever.

"You're a Slytherin whose been pawing at a Ravenclaw girl. We're a house full of rightfully elitist, prejudiced kids. What kind of talk do you think? I'm not telling you to knock it off. That decision should be yours. I'm just making you aware."

Severus hadn't thought he was worth the bother over such a thing, nevertheless, he shot back "I am not and have not been Pawing anyone. She was my friend."
he sank into his chair and crossed his arms. Why did everyone have to gutter something that he considered his best relationship thus far in his life?

"Tell me Rabastan, why am I worth the bother? Why all the fuss? Most of the students don't care if I live or die stop existing, Why the sudden dust up about St. Clare? Is it because her sister was murdered by deatheaters?" he added mentally ' does that make her an enemy?'.
he had leaned toward Rabastan as he had been speaking. He was now not slumped in his chair. He didn't think he could trust himself to even give a hint of this sort of information to Natalie, She had to know about, she wasn't numbed to everyone's coarseness like he was. His bloomed confusion about how important she was to him was eclipsed by how much of her he didn't understand.

Rabastan shrugged. "Do I look like I'm in a bother or am fussing? You should know me by now. You've had a couple of years." Nope, he was usually too laid back for his own good, but oh, he pulled it off so well.

"I'm just relaying information. It's up to you what you do with it."

Honestly, he wouldn't tell Severus what to do. He wasn't that much of a hippocrit.

Severus gave Rabastan a look. "Not you you dolt, everyone else. I've had Cissa and Lucius before her, and Black's baby brother all give me the 'Slytherin' talk, I'm asking you what makes me so pivotal!" He huffed. He crossed his arms and slunk back into his chair. maybe he was whining, but he couldn't help but wonder a little.

Rabastan wanted to tell him to grow up, but he had to remember that the kid was only twelve.

He came and sat down in a chair near Severus. "I hate to burst your bubble, but you're not pivotal at all." He shrugged. Truth hurts.

"Every errant Slytherin gets that talk, you know. I've gotten it more times than I can count, if you want the truth."

That frustrated Severus even more than actually being pursued. "Just because I have a friend in another house? What about Inopen?! He has one in every house and is practically licking a hufflepuffs heels, Don't tell me he's hounded about how he should stay in his house." he didn't believe he had ever seen him get the same sort of jabbing Severus did. Maybe he just held himself in higher regard than him.

[Rabastan Lestrange]

"I'm certain he has," Rabastan said, and he leaned back. "I also happen to think that you have much more potential than Inophen, and that makes a difference."

He was quiet for a minute before he added, "I'm not hounding you, Severus. I'm making you aware. There's a difference."

Severus considered what Rabastan had said. There is a differance. It was an astounding thought, Severus was surprised that sort of thinking would come from Rabastan. He nodded his head and said with a note of surprise "I see." and with that stood up from his uncomfortable chair and toward his bed in the next room. He hoped he could get there before anyone else showed up to give him a talking too.
