"Yes, true, we humans do love fighting over something," Gage agreed. If it wasn't houses that seperated them, it'd be classes, or clubs, or teams...anything really.
Gage registered what Lani said about the tables. "Would you like to sit?" he offered politely, just like he was taught.

Lani smiled a little and nodded. "Yes, I think I would," she told him. "It would be much more comfortable than the floor, don't you think?" A platinum curl bounced as she nodded her head, and she was really quite pretty when she smiled. Thank goodness for that, because Godric knew it wasn't her brains that got her anywhere.
"But I'll let you pick the table."

Gage walked over to a table and took a seat with Leilani. "So, excited to watch the tri-wizard tournament?" Gage asked. "My best friend is one of the champions."

Lani shrugged. "It could be interesting," she said, taking a seat at the table he chose.
She tried to remember the Ravenclaw champion. "Curry... is it? Your friend?" She smiled and leaned towards him a little. "Did you enter your name?"

"Actually..." Gage looked down at his Ravenclaw button. "I don't know Regina. My friend is the Hufflepuff champion, Maxi Borale."
"I would have entered my name, but I'm only a second year, I'm too young." Gage said, a little crestfallen. "Did you?"

"Oh," Lani said, smiling a little. "I sort of forgot you were so young. Perhaps Dumbledore will host another when you're old enough. You should enter."
She shook her head at his question, her blonde curls bouncing softly around her face. "No. I would much rather sit this one out, to be honest. It's not really something I'd enjoy."

"I hope he does," Gage said. "When I'm in fifth year, I want to compete. I think it'd be fun." He also thought that his older brother would be proud of him if Gage became the house champion. Maybe his dad would even come watch him compete.
Gage shook his head absently, he was getting his hopes up over something that wouldn't possibly happen for over three years. Instead he addressed Lani. "Well, watching it should be a trip, shouldn't it be?"

"Watching it should be quite a lot of fun, yes. For you especially, I would imagine... you have your own house champion and your friend to root for. If there is another when you're old enough, I'll have to come back and watch it."
She was making small talk and being nice. Gage was open and engaging, and easy to talk to.

"Yea, it'll be fun," Gage said with an energetic nod. He moved to scratch absently behind his ear and knocked his bag over, spilling its contents.
"Today is just not my day," Gage said as he scooped everything back into his book bag. From his chair, he could barely reach his sketch book, which lay wide open under Lani's seat. "Um...could you..." he began, pointing to the sketch pad.

"Oh, sure," Lani said, reaching down and grabbing the book. She couldn't help but notice the sketch on the page that it was open to, and she turned it slightly to get a better look as she handed it back to him.
"Did you draw this?" She asked. "It's quite good."

"Yea, I did," he said, a slight blush rising in his cheeks. Most of his drawings and sketches were of his friends and of random people in the halls. "And thanks," Gage said.

Lani looked up, setting her own books off to the side. The drawing she was looking at was really quite good, and she wasn't quite ready to give the book up yet.
"Can I look at it? Would you mind?" She asked.

Lani laughed, though she really didn't mean to. She could be cruel sometimes without realizing it.
"I'm sorry," she said, opening the sketchbook. "It was just the way you said that... it struck me funny. You're talking to me, though. And the Hufflepuff girl... you talk to people."
