Ed had been doing almost all of the cooking for the two of them since Bridget was attacked on their first date. And even now that she was better and the Healer at St Mungo's had given her permission to return to work, Ed was still cooking. He claimed he didn't mind it, and his expression while he was elbow deep in batters or strews proved that he enjoyed it. But this morning Bridget had opted to have a go at making breakfast for them.
It did not go well.
By the time the pancake batter had exploded onto the walls, the eggs were burnt black and sticking to the frying pan and the bacon was barely recognizable. Luckily Ed hadn't gotten up yet so she cleaned herself up, shut the door to the kitchen, and went in to wake him. "Come on, let's go down to Puddifoot's for breakfast. No using the kitchen today, it needs a rest." It wasn't long before they were both dressed and walking into Madam Puddifoot's Tea Shop.

Ed was woken to Bridget's shining face. He usually woke up before her, which was his first cue that something was up. And as she rushed him out of the house there was the distinct smell of burnt food coming from the closed off kitchen. He struggled not to laugh, he wouldn't want to discourage her from trying to cook again. "Alright, Puddifoot's it is." He gave her a peck on the cheek as they slipped out of the house.
When they made it into town he held Bridget's hand as they walked the High Street. He held the door open for her at the tea shop and walked in behind her. There were a few open table so Ed guided her over to one and held her chair out for her.

"Thank you," she beamed as she slid into the chair Ed held out for her. "I haven't been to a restaurant in ages," she teased. "I'm not sure I know how to act." She picked up the tiny menu that sat on the table waited for her and looked it over. She would definitely need coffee after that episode in the kitchen. But she wasn't sure she could look a pancake in the eye. "What do you think you'll have?"

Once they were both seated Ed picked up the menu and looked it over. It all looked a bit plain, compared to his own cooking. But Bridget seemed to need a morning out so he wasn't about to complain. "I'm thinking about sausage and fried eggs. That sounds good right?" He looked across the table to the beautiful brunette he was lucky enough to be dating.

"That does sound good." She looked back at the menu again before deciding. "I'm going to get porridge and toast." Two things she hadn't tried to make today. She looked up to see Ed looking at her. Bridget leaned across the table and kissed him. "Thank you for coming out with me," she said while still leaning across the table.

He welcomed her kiss and the lingering beauty of Bridget as she stayed near him. Ed smiled. "Of course, Bridg. Anything you want." That was the truth. From the second they met he knew he would try everything in his power to make her happy. It was one of those rare things, but love at first sight did happen.
The waitress, an older thin woman, came up to get their orders. Ed ordered Bridget's meal first. "And you'll want a coffee too, right?" She hadn't mentioned her drink preference but he knew from the last time she tried to cook that caffeine helped for some reason.

Bridget reluctantly seated herself again as the waitress came over to the table. She allowed Ed to order for her, he always did that sort of cheesy romantic gesture. She loved it. Who said chivalry was dead? "Yes, coffee," she agreed. Then, looking to the waitress she added, "black." She handed the woman her menu which freed her hands up to play with her hair. She had run a brush through it quickly before they left but a spot in the back had been unruly lately. Using her hands she checked to make sure it was staying in place as it should.

Next he ordered his meal and handed the waitress the menu. She left and he turned his attention back to Bridget.
"Stop fussing. You look beautiful." He hated it when she obsessed on her looks. She always looked stunning. But she never believed it, not even when his breath was taken away by her. "I have to train later, so I'm afraid you'll be eating out again for lunch. Unless you've learned to cook by then." He gave a knowing wink, but didn't let the topic of her cooking linger. "What are your plans for this evening?"

She teased him by purposely checking her hair again and making a funny face before leaving her hair alone. She would have stopped anyway, without him telling her to, her hair seemed to be minding itself nicely for the moment. "I was planning on having dinner with a handsome man before taking him back to the bedroom for a little dessert." She grinned at him seductively.

"Oh, well in that case I won't bother you then," he teased her back. The idea of having her to himself again was tempting enough to want to leave their food before it even came and take her back to the house. But he wouldn't of course. He would mind his manners and be polite. Heaven forbid she think he had a one track mind.

She smiled at him and reached for his hand across the table. "What time will you be over then? So I can have my other handsome man be gone when you arrive?" She was actually planning something quite romantic and wanted to be sure it was all prepared before he showed up. She was thinking candles, soft music, and a sexy little number that he'd not seen before.
