Ed had received a few tips that there were werewolves around Hogsmeade village. He often met with his bear friend on the hill overlooking the village to prepare himself for an actual encounter with a werewolf. This made Ed feel comforted in a way. He was familiar with the area and knew it well enough during a fight that he wouldn't trip over the fallen trees or fall into the gofer holes. There wasn't a full moon for a couple more weeks, but Ed wanted to look the place over, this time with a keen eye for detail, to be sure he was ready. He wondered if any of the villagers had seen anything suspicious and could possibly point him in the direction of assumed werewolves. Of course, knocking on doors wasn't the best way to get information. It mostly led to people getting upset that you've interrupted their dinner or something of that nature. So Ed decided to walk the streets and speak to anyone he encountered there.

Molly was walking briskly down the cobblestoned street, on her way to work. There had been a strange sense of forboding lately in the town, and Molly didn't like it. There was the off chance that she was paranoid, but she didn't like walking alone at night anymore, and she knew she wasn't the only one. She couldn't place where this feeling came from, but she was thankful the sun was still up now.
She noticed Edward and slowed her pace before she stopped and put her hands on her hips. "You look lost," she said, trying to catch his attention. "Can I help you find something?"

For a long while the streets seemed to be deserted. It was the middle of the day, so he could hardly expect children to be running about, they would be in school. And most people worked at this time of day which accounted for the lack of adults. He did happen to see a few figures moving past windows as he walked by the houses that lined the street. And then a woman appeared a little further down the road, walking his way. She asked if he needed help finding something. "Actually, yes. I'm Edward Elric." He introduced himself and offered his hand in formal greeting, deciding for the moment to leave out his job title. He wouldn't want to frighten her if she had no knowledge of the goings on of the neighborhood. "I was notified of some strange occurrences in this neighborhood lately. You haven't happened to notice anything, have you?"

Well, yes, she thought when he asked the question. Strange people walking the streets asking about strange occurances was a little weird to her, a little out of the blue.
"Are you from the Ministry?" She asked, before she shrugged and said, "Well, if you can't the fact that no one's willing to walk alone at night here anymore, then yes. Are you looking for something specific out of the ordinary?"

The night was the problem, perhaps there were werewolves about then. Of course it could also be vampires, which would be better suited for Bridget. Or Death Eaters trying to be stealth, in which case he'd have to notify the Auror Department. He would need more information to go by before coming to any conclusions.
"I work with the Ministry, yes." Technically this was accurate. The Ministry contracted outside of their facilities for some positions, and his was one of those positions. But when you disowned the Ministry of Magic, people tend to become a little tight lipped. "I know this is mainly a residential area, so I'm assuming people around here have pets. Smaller animals, cats maybe. Notice any disturbing animal slayings?" He thought it might help to ease her into the questions if he started with animal attacks, not humans. "Maybe some of the neighbors suspect wolves, mountain lions, bears even."

Molly didn't know, but it was all of the above. Hogsmeade simply wasn't safe like it used to be.
"Animal slayings?" She repeated. What exactly was he looking into? "No, I'm sorry. You know... if you're looking for information like that, you should go into one of the bars around here. The bartenders seem to know everything that goes on. Have there been disturbing animal slayings?" She added, a touch of worry in her voice.

"The bartenders? Good to know. I will certainly look into that. Thank you very much for the tip." The woman seemed a little uneasy about his questioning. The last thing he wanted to do was to cause anyone to become alarmed. "No, nothing like that has been reported. Just a few strange sightings is all. It probably isn't anything, but the Ministry takes every report seriously. That's why I'm here."

"Of course," she said with a nod. "Well... I'm sure you're appeciated, then. No one quite feels safe anymore, do they?"
She glanced up to see where the sun was, and then looked back at the strange man. He didn't strike her as a Ministry employee, but then, who was he to judge?
"Which reminds me... I should be on my way, if you don't mind. I'm sorry I couldn't be more help."
