Dillon, TX: A Friday Night Lights RPG
The small town of Dillon, Texas isn't the richest or most populous town. What it is, is a slice of Americana, the living embodiment of everyday life in America. Dillon is a town united by its love of sports, namely its high school football team, the Dillon Panthers. The players on the team are treated like local celebrities. And for many of them, this is their one shot at being "someone."
Coach Eric Taylor and his wife Tami moved to Dillon when he got the job as head coach. After coaching the team to a state championship, he got a job in Austin coaching at TMU, only to find that his heart lay back in Dillon. Soon he returned to his wife and two daughters, Julie and Gracie Belle, and to his old coaching job at Dillon High. What he found, however, was that both his family and team were a mess.
Tami is having a tough time balancing motherhood and her job as high school guidance counselor. She is frustrated with the baby and with Julie, whose rebellion is worse than ever. Julie broke up with Matt Saracen and tried to get together with an older boy. She stayed out late, dressed in revealing clothes, and even went to a drinking party. She and her mother have been clashing terribly. Will their relationship be mended?
Matt Saracen, nursing a broken heart, got into several different relationships, the last of which--with his grandmother's live-in nurse--left him shattered. Can he bounce back?
Tim Riggins continues to battle his problems with alcohol, and his feelings for Lyla Garrity, who has become stronger and more confident than ever, thanks to a religious awakening. Will Tim be able to win her over? Or will she choose to go with Chris Kennedy, her co-star on the religious radio show?
Smash's overconfidence and a relationship with a white girl led to his downfall. He got in a fight over his sister's honor, but it was painted as a battle between whites and blacks. Now he's been suspended for the last three games of the season, and he's lost his scholarship to TMU, and no other schools will have him--except tiny little Whitmore College. Is his dream of future stardom lost forever?
Landry Clarke was one of the season's surprises. Tall, skinny and gangly, he's as unlikely a football player as there ever was. But he plays with heart, and sometimes that's all that matters. He recovered from a violent incident in which he accidentally killed a man in defense of Tyra Collette. Now the unlikely couple seems happy together--but will Jean, the girl he dumped in favor of Tyra, get in the way?
Santiago Herrera is a boy from the wrong side of the tracks, who may finally be on the right path. After serving time in juvenile detention, he's now been taken in by Buddy Garrity and given a position on the football team. Will he continue to do the right thing? Or will he slip up?
Jason Street, the former star quarterback who was paralyzed in a bad tackle last season, is slowly starting to cope with his disability. He's moved out of his parents' house and in with his friend, the similarly-paralyzed Herc. He's now found out that he's going to be a father, after a one-night stand with a waitress named Erin. He was told he would not be able to have children--surely the child is a miracle. Will Erin keep the baby?
The stakes have never been higher as the championship games draw closer. Dillon has a title to uphold. Can they do it? Or will their lives get in the way? Find out in Dillon, TX.
