James laughed. "Yeah. Peeves would be more entertaining. At least he doesn't act like someone jammed a wand too far up his arse." He gave a quick grin to Sirius. Defense Against the Dark Arts just became a little dull. Having Bella back was going to be horrible, since after all she was a teaching assistant. He only hoped that she wasn't the one going to be grading papers. Looking over to Lily, he looked back to Sirius with a sigh. The scene in Potions was still fresh in his mind. He was going to have to get over what happened sooner or later, and plus Sirius was right. Maybe he could show her that he wasn't a jerk. "OK, OK. I just hope she doesn't mind it." He gave one last glance to Sirius, then slowly stood up from his chair walking over to Lily. He paused beside her desk. "Peeves," he asked motioning to her hair. Lily was still grumbling about Peeves as she tried to squeeze out her hair. She couldn't quite remember the drying charm she had heard, so she just tried her best to dry off as best as she could. At the sound of James's voice over her head, she groaned inwardly and looked up at him, prepared to bite his head off. But she didn't. Something about the sympathetic look on his face made her hold her tongue. Instead, she sighed. "Yeah. He hit me with a water balloon."

He was waiting for her to bite his head off for even talking to her. However, that moment didn't come. Lily seemed to be in an OK mood with him, even though Peeves hit her with a water balloon.
"Sorry 'bout that," he said. Sometimes James wondered who was worse, him and Sirius or Peeves. "Er. If you want I can fix your hair. I won't do anything funny to it. I'll just dry it. Promise." James scratched the back of his neck in an awkward manner. He would have just went ahead and dried it, but he didn't want Lily to have a reason to yell at him. He didn't want to have a repeat.

She shrugged. "I'm not really sure, to be honest. I haven't been fantastic about keeping in touch with him." It was one of those things she swore she would get better about, and she really knew she should. "He's been there for about six years... he's quite a bit older than me. Anyway, he really seems to enjoy it." "My brother is 6 years older then me also," Gage said. What a strange coincidence. "And my older sister is 7 years older, and my younger sisters are 5." Gage wanted to ask why she hadn't stayed intouch with her brother, but figured that would be prying, and that would be rude. He looked at the drawing on his desk, frowned, and crumpled it, pushing it to the side of his desk and pulling out a new paper.

"Sisters?" She asked, raising her eyebrows. "Are they twins, then?" He seemed to have a big family. Well... so had she. It was interesting how many similarities there were between them. Maybe it was an American thing.
When he pushed the paper aside, she tentatively reached for it, but did not grab it. "Do you mind?" She asked. "I always admire an artist."

Lily fought off the urge to yell at him. He wasn't doing anything wrong. In fact, he was being rather nice. And since she couldn't remember the drying spell, it would be nice if he could help her out. But of course, with James, she found it very hard to be nice. For some reason, he bothered her and she didn't really understand why. However, she had promised to be nicer to him if he didn't act like a jerk, so she sighed and nodded. "Um, OK. I forget the drying charm, so if you can help, that'd be great. Thanks."

To him, Lily seemed to be annoyed with him for some reason. He didn't see why she was annoyed like with him. He hadn't done anything bad to her or anything. If it wasn't for Sirius, then he wouldn't have been over here helping her, and she wouldn't appear to be annoyed with him.
James thought for a moment of the drying spell. He pulled out his wand and moved it in a circle. "Radiatus," he said with a little confidence.

As the drying charm started to work, drying her hair and leaving a nice warm feeling behind, Lily smiled in spite of herself. "Thanks, James," she said in a sincere voice.
Oh, why did he always make it so hard to stay mad at him? And really, she reasoned, she wasn't mad at him exactly. She was still mad at Peeves, and when James was standing there, she was reminded of just how annoying it was when he pulled pranks on people. It might have been harmless fun to him, but to the victims it usually wasn't fun at all.
"I'm sorry... I'm just in a bad mood. Peeves really irritates me."

"No, no, don't apologize," said James. "There's no need." He gave her half a smile. He still felt slightly awkward around her. At least she wasn't yelling at him, that counted for something.
"I know. Peeves irritates just about everyone. I'll talk with him and see if I can do anything," he added. Maybe he could work something out with Peeves to leave Lily alone for good. Hopefully he could.

When she asked to see his paper, he nodded, letting her take it off his desk. They were simple sketches, just of things around the classroom. The reason he had crumpled it up was because he had messed up the intricacy of one of the frames on the wall. "Yeah, they're twins; identical on the outside, but totally oppisite personalities..." He made a mental note to write a letter to check in on them and make sure they were behaving.

Adele took the piece of paper and uncrumpled it, smoothing out against the desk. The little sketches were really quite good. She glanced up realizing they were all things in the room, and then looked back at the paper.
"Do you sketch a lot, Gage?" she asked. She realized she was sounding a little... easily distracted, but his engaging personality was infectuous, and she couldn't help but be curious.

"Yea, i do. I like to sketch and draw, it's relaxing for me," Gage said. He looked down at his newest sketch, suprised to see that he had drawn Luka and Lennie, the twins, waving at him.
Gage laughed. "Sometimes I don't even know what I'm drawing," he smiled.
"What about you? You have any hobbies like this?"

Adele smiled at his newest sketch before her eyes were drawn back to his. She was a Ravenclaw... her talent was school work. At least, that's what she liked everyone to think, but she felt safe sharing her talent, or hobby, as Cage called it, they were one in the same, with him.
"I sing sometimes," she told him. "My brother got me into it. It used to be our thing around Christmas."

Andrea walked into class with her head held high. A lot of her fellow students had been angry with her for getting twenty points taken away from Slytherin, but others had told her that she was "cool" for speaking up to the professor. Most everyone agreed that he was a loon. But now she was heading to Defense Against the Dark Arts, being taught by Rothschild's wife. Andrea almost felt sorry for the stupid woman for being married to such a nutter. As she walked in, she took a look around and noticed Regulus sitting in the back with the other Slytherins. She smiled--a rare occurrence for her. But Regulus was just about the only one who could make her smile. Now, if only he'd notice her... She walked up to him and sat down in the seat next to him. "Hi, Regulus," she said in a singsongy voice. Regulus turned from Bella to Andrea. She seemed to be in a pretty good mood. A smile fell across his face. "Hello Andrea," he said in greeting. "I do happen to think that someone is in a rather good mood today. How are you?"

Andrea almost beamed. Getting attention from Regulus always made her day. There was certainly nothing else for her to be happy about. But she didn't want to tell him he was the reason she was smiling.
"It makes me proud to see all these Slytherins in one class," she replied. "But what is Bellatrix doing back? Didn't she graduate last year?"

"That my dear is true, but dear Bella just loves us so much that she decided to come back," said Regulus. He shot Bella a grin, then turned back to Andrea. "Actually, Bella is here for work." He didn't really know the reason why Bella was back, except for she had a job to do. She didn't tell him anymore than that.
"Although, I think it's a good thing she's back. It may help those other helpless Slytherins actually come around if they have someone else other than just Cissa that could change them."

"Work?" Andrea said, frowning. She couldn't imagine anything more miserable than coming back to school and working. Although, at least she got paid for it, which was at least something. But still... work in general sounded pretty miserable. Just one more thing that sucked about being a grownup.
"I don't intend to work when I get out of school," she declared loftily. "I intend to get married right out of school to a wizard from a good pureblood family." Like Regulus, she thought.
She glanced around at the other Slytherins and silently agreed with him. They needed some work. Aside from Regulus, Narcissa, and herself, there was Rabastan (who was also pretty cute, but way out of her league), that dumb girl Justine and her irritating on-again/off-again boyfriend Jason, that airhead Leilani, and Severus, who was always with that weird Ravenclaw girl. It was a good thing Bellatrix was back to whip this sorry lot into shape.
"Yeah, really," she agreed in a conspiritorial tone. "Like, what's with Severus and the Ravenclaw?"

Regulus looked to Severus. "I don't know Andrea," he replied. "Although I do intend to find out some how or another. It's not good for our lot to be seen with them." He almost spat the word out. A look of disgust crossed his face. "I also intend to break him from it. I'm not sure how much Cissa can do with Severus, but I do intend to help him come to his senses." He gave a grin to her.
"It's sad that there's only four of us with a good mind. Maybe we can make the others realize where they need to be."

Andrea nodded. "I know, it's sad. All those annoying red-haired Gryffindors running around, and us Slytherins are reduced to only four good ones." She glared up at Severus, who had his back to her. "I think you can save him from that weird girl. If you want, I can give the girl a hard time, while you work on Severus." She liked the idea of being able to help Regulus. Maybe then he'd like her the way she liked him.

Lily felt suddenly shy. It was strange, but she wasn't entirely sure how to talk to James when she wasn't yelling at him for something. It was strangely hard to be nice to him... it was like her first instinct with him was to yell. And that wasn't exactly fair to him, was it? "Um, OK. If you could do that, it'd be cool. I'd appreciate that." She looked up at him and bit down on her lower lip. She couldn't believe she was about to ask him this, but what could it hurt? "If... you wanted to sit with me today, I guess that would be OK."

"No problem," he said. James was about to turn and walk back to his seat, until he heard Lily speak again. She was asking him to sit next to her. Lily never asked him that. He just usually took a seat somewhere next to her.
Glancing back to Sirius, James knew that he wouldn't have a problem with him sitting with Lily. "Erm. Alright. I'll just get my stuff and move over here," he said. His face had lit up, and he was sure that it was evident. James walked over to his stuff next to Sirius, only to pick it up and grin at him.
Smoothly, James slid into the seat next to Lily. Today, he wasn't going to try any funny stuff. He was going to try and be on his best behavior.
