Sam had taken Lyra into her confidence one day about Caleb being her brother just to see the look on Lyra's face after all that attempting to seduce him or at least get a rise out of him. Caleb also demanded that Sam tell Lyra that it was highly inapropriate which Sam laughed at. Though she had been amused when her brother showed her more attention though Lyra had been trying for it whereas Sam hadn't been.
"He doesn't dance." she said amused.

Seth raised an eyebrow. Quidditch? Seth really did love the game. His few fond family-life memories involved the sport. He knew Rystain was the Slytherin captian this year too. "Um, I've thought about it, yea..." He wasn't sure though, he had to think about Ry's offer. "Lemme get back to you about it?" Seth had to consider if he actually wanted to do something that would make his father proud for once.

"You know, I bet a certain Hufflepuff who might like it if you were on the team." He'd noticed that females usually tended to be more attentive to the male quidditch players, thougth he didn't know much about Maxi. "Besides I could use someone like you on the team, with your sense of strategy. At least think about it, I was going to hold tryouts later this week for a new seeker replacement, hopefully I'll see you there."
He remembered the conversation at the ceremony between Sam and Seth, "Did you ever ask Maxi to the dance yet?" He had been debating who to ask, and had generally narrowed it down to Lyra or Lani, a shame he couldn't get one on each arm. That would show Rabastan, and he almost chuckled at the stray thought.

Lyra grinned to herself and continued without pause. "I don't believe I am required to have a date. I'm sure just dressing up will be enough for me. Besides, there's not many here I care to spend an entire, fruitless, evening with." She scanned the room. There certainly weren't any in here at moment.

She nodded, Sam on the other hand, while perhaps not "required" to have a date, did need one. House Champions danced first didn't they? Oh she didn't know the particulars yet, but she would know them all before the time came. Still, she had a date, if only he would return her owl and let her know that he was coming, of course he was coming, but she would've felt better if he had written her back already.

"So enough on my date for the ball. Who's your date?" Sam's comb caught a knot in Lyra's hair and it tugged at her scalp. "Ow!" Lyra grabbed at her hair protectively. It was probably enough to get her through the day, and Lyra turned back around to face her friend. Waiting to hear the girl's answer.

When Lyra mentioned Sam's date Sam accidentily got a bit careless and brushed without being careful which caused the tug. "Sorry." she murmured quickly.
"We should shop catalogues together for our dresses." she said changing the subject, of course Sam's dress would be a surprise and she was sure so would Lyra's, but neither girl went to a store and bought dresses, no they were designed for the girl but there were endless catalogues designers would send in hopes of being the one to design their dresses.

"Yes, that could be fun. My mum has sent me some catalogs just for that. I think I put them in my trunk somewhere. Maye under my bed." She looked skyward, trying to remember where exactly she had stashed them. It was hard to tell since the house elves always cleaned up after her if she left a mess. "I don't know. I'll find them." She hadn't even noticed Sam's sly change of topic. She enjoyed parties and getting all dolled up too much to care, once dresses were brought up.

Sam lowered her voice knowing that Lyra would probably love what she was about to say next, " You know the magazine deals with all the top designers. They'll be doing a story on the fashions of the Yule Ball and every designer from here clear to the states have been sending in catalogues, I say we merge our designers over dinner at Le Repas Cher, does my idea appeal?"

Her eyes brightened at Samantha's words and an extremely happy smile appeared on her lovely face. "I hadn't heard that actually. Oh," she said more somberly now that she had thought of something. "I can't go alone if there will be media there. How would that look?" Her forehead wrinkled with worry and she bit her lower lip. Then, resolved that she would not need to worry about a date as she was too gorgeous to go alone anyway, she shook her head and smiled again. "Yes, Le Repas Cher. It sounds wonderful."

Sam nodded and then shrugged, " I'm not sure how it would look, but one theory is that it would look like you were keeping your options open. That you weren't tied down to anyone." she paused putting a finger to the corner of her mouth, " When was your debut Lyra?" she asked knowing it was still "in" for society to hold a ball or event for their daughters elegible for courtship.

"Or it would look as though I was too pathetic to get a date," she moaned. She couldn't stand it if people thought she was pathetic, and on a national scale. Dear Lord! She didn't see why Sam was asking about her Debutante Ball, but she answered anyway. "Last year. Why?"

"Just wondering." she answered with her own secret smile. Every month debutantes were selected and praised in her magazine for their various charities or achievements even made up bull to get marriage offers. Men didn't often read that aspect of the magazine, however parents did and arranged marriages came from it along with invitations to several events. If Lyra's ideal was to get married then perhaps Sam could help.

"You're planning something," Lyra said knowingly. But she didn't say anything more. "Do you think this class is ever going to end?" She looked back at the professor. It appeared that they were never going to be excused.

"Maybe." she said teasing but laughing all the same.
When she glanced over at the professer her eyebrows rose and she sighed, "I have no idea...soon I hope, I'm starving."

Seth smiled a bit at the thought of Maxi. "What's the harm in trying out right?" Seth said, which in his mind, basically agreeinig to play. "Let me know when try outs are okay?" "And...eh, no, I havn't asked her yet," Seth sighed, things just kept comming up and getting in the way and interrupting them. By now, Seth figured it would never happen.

"Join the club I haven't asked anyone either. But maybe you should ask her before someone else does, especially if she's one of the champions.. that means she's going to be one of the first to be asked you know." He was happy to hear Seth agree to try out for the team, his house wasn't exactly known for being fair when it came to sports and likely the tryouts wouldn't really be either. Rystain had already made his choice, as long as Seth could fly worth a damn and dodge bludgers. But he had a feeling Seth would surprise them and be a natural seeker. He didn't tell Seth what position was open though yet. He'd let it be a surprise. He'd only just gotten the letter from the old seeker's mother to remove him from the team when he'd gotten hurt by a bludger. But really it was the guys own fault for not paying attention where he was flying and he didn't need someone like that on his team anyways. He wanted to win.

Sam glanced over at Rystain and Seth, "Should we make a girl's day of it or invite some male company?" she asked with a mischevious grin, Sam had matchmaking on her mind, well not necessarily Rystain with Lyra, but Lyra was the closest thing she had to a girl friend and Sam wasn't above using her resources to keep a friendship...at least now while the idea of friendship was still a novel concept.
