Andi was relieved to take her mind off of Bellatrix and the job situation in general. She took a quick look around the room. "Well, I think the person who's been in the department the longest is Cassidy LaRose. But I don't think she'll get it, because she's not aggressive enough. Emily would be a natural choice, but I'm not sure Vincent would promote his own fiancee... it might not look good, you know? And of course, we're both too new. I think probably it will go to Angelique. She's tough, and she knows how to speak up for herself."
As she looked around, she thought it odd that so many women were aurors. Other than Ted, and of course, Alastor Moody, who had been away on assignment for so long that she still had yet to meet him, everyone else was female. And yet, her professors had tried to talk her out of pursuing the job, saying it was too hard for a woman. Obviously, that wasn't true.

Ted nodded, glancing at the two girls in the room. "I agree with you," he said. "Though it's a shame for Emily." She probably understood though. Angelique would be a good choice, in the end, he thought.
He nudged Andromeda and smiled. "Of course, Vincent coul surprise us all with his amazing foresight and choose me."

Andi looked at the other two women for a moment. She could tell that Emily probably already knew what was going to happen. "I imagine Vincent already discussed it with Emily, if that's the decision he made."
At the suggestion that Vincent might choose him, she smiled. "Well, you certainly have my vote," she teased. "But I suspect we're too new. The same for Lucie Wright. But who knows? He could surprise us."

"I hope he doesn't," Ted replied. "Angelique is the best choice, given the circumstances," he said, certain of this fact. He checked the time, wondering where everyone else was, and looked back at Andromeda.
"What are you doing tonight?" he asked on impulse.

Andi nodded. "I think you're right, too. I mean, I'm sure there's a chance that Alastor Moody could come back and be put in charge... but I've never even met him. Have you? He's been away on assignment so long that I'm not sure anyone here has ever seen him. But the way things are, we need a strong leader, and I think Angelique is a good choice."
As soon as he asked the question, she blushed. "I think my schedule is clear tonight," she said, after pretending to think it over. "Why?"

Ted laughed quietly. "I met him once when I first came to train," he said. "Just the once, though. Is it too soon for me to be hoping for another assignment? Though maybe one that would keep me in town."
He turned his body towards her completely, though he kept an ear open for either the meeting to start or anyone to say something to either of them. "Would you like to go to dinner with me tonight?" he asked, not exactly fearing a rejection, but slightly nervous all the same.

Cassidy was practically shaking with nerves as she got ready to go to the Minister's meeting. She wasn't really sure why she was nervous. Even though she had actually been in the department longer than most of the other aurors, she knew full well that she was never going to be chosen as the new head of the department. Vincent had never liked her. Or at least, he didn't respect her. He still thought she was his secretary or something. And he never could get her name right.
Still, she had been working hard. And her involvement in Tyler's case should have raised her profile a bit more in the department. So why did she always feel like she was invisible?
Pulling her hair off of her face into a neat bun, she finally decided she looked presentable enough to be seen by the rest of the ministry. Realizing she was running late, she hurried down the hall as quickly as possible, only to see that the meeting had not yet started. She did see a few familiar faces, but Evangeline wasn't even there yet. Still nervous, she slipped into a chair next to Emily.

"Not at all," she responded. "I'm a slayer, so I don't usually make it to the Ministry a lot. I'm not really one for offices." She chuckled lightly. "Though I do come in on occasion, such as today, but Amelia here can vouch for me that I'm just a wreck when I'm expected here." She laughed again, looking briefly over at Amelia, then back to Angelique. "I suspect you find yourself quite at home, having to come in on a regular basis though?" Angelique laughed. "Well, you know how it is. Paperwork is a necessary part of the job, but that doesn't mean anyone enjoys coming into the office to do it. Just like you, I'd much rather be on an assignment than stuck in the office." She thought again about the attack on Alastor, and the murder of her niece, Sabrina. She wanted to see the people who had done these things behind bars so badly that it was practically an obsession. While she was stuck in this meeting, were they out perpetuating other attacks? She personally was beginning to think that none of them could afford to turn their backs even for a second.

Felicia was scrambling to get a few more things done before she went to the meeting. As usual, it seemed like her work was never done. And she hated to think of how much would pile up during the meeting. Still, the meeting was necessary. They were finally going to begin a new era at the Ministry, with the stench of Craven's administration finally washing away. She knew that Vincent would do a good job as minister.
Signing one last requisition order, she tapped it with her wand, causing it to fold in on itself in the shape of a paper airplane. The airplane soared off to the owl room, where it would be processed and sent out.
Satisfied with her work, Felicia stood and quickly checked her appearance in a nearby mirror. Determining that she was fine, she walked briskly to the meeting room and headed up to the table for some coffee and a donut.

"I wouldn't let Vincent hear you saying that," Amelia interjected. "We wouldn't want you to get passed over for Head Auror because of your distaste for paperwork." She was teasing Angelique of course, and really had no idea if she was even a candidate for the position. She didn't socialize too much at the office, and when she did she tended to stay within the tight knit confounds of her own hallway.

Angelique laughed. "Well, since he's done the job himself, I'm sure he can understand. It can be very tedious at times, but on the other hand, sometimes I suppose it's good to relax and just catch up on the paperwork." She knew for a fact that Vincent had always given most of his paperwork to Cassidy, who he erroneously believed to be his secretary. Sooner or later, the woman would have to learn to stand up for herself.
"At any rate, I am sure that whomever Vincent chooses to head the department will do a great job," she added with a smile.
Especially if he chooses me, she thought to herself.

Evangeline rushed around in the registry, putting away everything before she had to be at the Ministry meeting. She was the only person in her department for the time being, considering everyone else just left. Sighing, she finished putting away the last piece of paper.
Looking at the time, Evangeline gasped. She was late. Oh that was going to be great. She only hoped the meeting hadn't started. Quickly she closed the door behind her and practically ran down the hall, only to stop at the meeting door to catch her breath. Soothing out her clothes, Evangeline walked in. Luckily the meeting hadn't started, because Vincent was still looking through his notes. She smiled at the people she passed and slipped into a seat beside Cassidy. "Sorry," she said sheepishly. "I'm not too late am I?"

Cassidy smiled to see Evangeline. "Hey," she greeted her. "It looks like you're OK. We haven't started yet." She looked around the room a little. "I feel like there are some people missing, but I guess a lot of people are busy with assignments. Anyway, I'm glad you could make it. I know it's stupid, but I'm really nervous..."

"Cass, you don't need to be nervous. Just take a deep breath." Evangeline gave her friend a grin. "We're going to get you over your nervousness, that I promise you. I'll just have to think of something good for you." She knew that her friend would get nervous for no reason and she also knew that Cassidy was shy, but Evangeline wanted to change all that. Sure, Cassidy wasn't too shy around her, but that was just because they had known each other forever, it seemed. Hopefully, this would change.

"Would you like to go to dinner with me tonight?" he asked, not exactly fearing a rejection, but slightly nervous all the same. Andi blushed. She had been hoping he had meant to ask her out for tonight, but as he leaned close to her, she felt herself growing warm. It was amazing how easily he could do that to her. "Yes," she replied simply. "I'd love to go to dinner with you tonight." Or right now, meeting be damned. But she supposed that was probably not the best attitude to have right now.

Ted barely even noticed the others coming into the meeting, even though he was keeping that ear open, and her yes made him smile like a little boy. It was the kind of smile he hated, but that any mother would treasure.
"Great," he said. "I was thinking La Repas Cher?" he said, asking her opinion though he thought she'd be fine with it.

Andi was lucky she wasn't standing up, because she was sure her knees would give out when she saw that adorable smile. She was torn between wanting to kiss him and wanting to tousle his hair like a little boy.
"That sounds great," she replied. "I haven't been there yet, but I've heard the food is very good." She'd also heard something about a romantic atmosphere, but she decided to leave that part out. After all, she had to be mindful of where she was.

"Same here," he said, nodding in agreement with her. "Never been, but I do hear it's pretty nice." And he'd be honest, with himself at least. The romantic atmosphere had it's draw as well. What kind of a guy would he be if he didn't try and romance her once in a while?
"I have some more paperwork to finish up after this meeting, but I don't think I'm working tonight at all. So just let me know whenever is good for you, and I'll..." he chuckled. "Make the long, long trek of two flights of stairs to come pick you up."

"Well, I have to see if I can arrange an interview with Dumbledore for the Herbology job," Andi said. "but other than that, I think I should be free. How about 7:00?" That would give her plenty of time to go through her beauty regimen to make sure she would be at least half as attractive as he was. She already started trying to figure out what she could do with her hair. She wished she could ask him whether he preferred it down or up.

He nodded. "Seven sounds perfect," he said. "If that changes, well, you know where to find me," he said with a smile that wouldn't seem to fade away. He felt like the little boy that stupid smile embodied, and it made him want to roll his eyes. He was a grown man. Young still, sure, but an adult all the same. And somehow, she still made him feel like a kid in a candy store whose parents had just let him loose.
Seven would give him time to go home, to shower, at least. It wouldn;t take him nearly as long to get ready, but he would still try to look his best.
