Vincent entered the meeting room, carrying a large box of donuts and pastries. He didn't often get nervous, but he had to admit, even his knees were knocking at the thought of what he was about to do. He was about to present himself at a formal meeting as the new Minister of Magic. Even as head of the Auror department, he had never really held formal meetings. He'd always preferred to keep things casual and low-key. But now, all that was going to have to change. He was Minister of Magic now, and, like it or not, he was in charge.
Using his wand, he turned on the coffee maker, and set out some cups and plates, and some napkins. Then he arranged the food onto a platter in the middle of the table.
Casting one final look around, he decided the room was ready. He sat down and began to thumb through his notes while he waited for the rest of the Ministry to arrive.

Bridget, though not usually seen at the Ministry of Magic, was still technically an employee and thus mandated to attend a meeting held by the new Minister. The thought of having to sit an a large room with so many people, when her mind was so cluttered with other things, was nerve-racking. But luckily she was friends with a few employees that held permanent offices, so she opted to visit a few of them before the meeting began, to ensure she had someone to sit with and calm her nerves.
Bridget had met Amelia in her office and the two were walking the hall, talking about the impending meeting. "At least there will be food," Bridget noted. "I'm famished. But then again...I don't know if that will help with the butterflies or not." She giggled though she was being sincere.

"You act as though you were the one holding the meeting. It's not all that bad, honestly. I've been to plenty of these, back when Craven was in office." She fell silent then, not wanting to discuss the past Minister. Somehow it felt like bad luck when on the way to meet the new Minister. "Is Ed coming?" she changed the subject. Bridget's boyfriend, Ed, was also technically working for the Ministry. But she didn't know if he was out working. Amelia assumed there were to be a few people who couldn't leave their missions and they would just have to be caught up later.
They had reached the meeting room and Amelia pulled the door open and let herself in, propping the door open for Bridget to follow. "Good morning, Minister," she said with a wide grin.

Bridget shrugged. "He mentioned something about a hunt...I just can't concentrate when I see him. He still makes me feel like a little girl." Bridget's cheeks flushed and she could feel the heat in her face radiate. At least Amelia had accomplished taking her mind off of the meeting.
She followed in behind and let the door swing shut. "Hallo Mr Corrigan." She smiled politely, hoping her cheeks had returned to a normal shade. They were the first there, so it would be rude to sit in the back, so far from the only other person in the room, who just happened to sign their paychecks. So Bridget pulled out a chair near the front and sat, Amelia taking the one next to her.

Vincent nodded to both women. He knew Amelia well enough, but had only met Bridget once or twice. "Good morning, ladies," he said, resisting an urge to check his hair. "Please, help yourselves to some coffee and donuts." He signalled to the spread, then looked back down at his notes.

"Thank you sir." She took the seat next to Bridget, then handed her a pastry from the box. "See, he's not nervous and he's leading this thing. So eat and relax. And tell me if Ed shows up. I want to see this mystery man of yours." Amelia, the busy little bee that she was, hadn't done much socializing outside of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. And on the few occasions she had entertained Bridget, Ed had been busy and couldn't attend. She wasn't too sure Bridget hadn't just made him up.

Angelique straightened her hair in the mirror one last time. She wasn't really in the mood to go to this meeting, because it meant taking time away from her current mission. She had been working around the clock trying to figure out what had happened to Alastor Domino, whose shocking disappearance had hit a little close to home for her. They were practically like family, plus he had been the first person she had met upon arriving in England.
But she knew this meeting, above all others, was important. Vincent had been elected Minister of Magic, and he now had to choose his replacement as head of the Auror department. And it was no secret that Angelique wanted that job.
So today was her chance. She needed to look flawless--tough, but beautiful as always--in order to be sure to command the respect of the other Aurors.
Finally satisfied with her appearance, she left the lavatory and walked briskly down the hall to the meeting room. Taking a deep breath, she walked inside.
There she saw a woman she vaguely recognized as a vampire slayer, though she did not know her name, and Amelia Bones from the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. At the end of the table was Vincent.
Angelique smiled at both of the women and extended her hand to the brunette, who was closest to her. "Hi, how do you do?" she greeted them. "I'm Angelique. I don't believe we've met."

Emily looked at the mess in her living room. Papers were scattered everywhere, the couch especially. She began to straighten up a little, making little stacks of everything. Once she was finished, she left for the Ministry. Not only was the Ministry meeting today, but she was going to work on a little bit of paperwork she had left.
She arrived at the Ministry a little later than she planned. Just before she sat down, she noticed that a few people were heading down the hall. Realizing the time, Emily gave a sigh and followed suit. She didn't bother stopping and checking her hair, she just headed straight to the meeting, hoping she wasn't late.
Entering the room, she quickly noticed Vincent at the end of the table. She was going to say hello, but he looked a little busy reading his papers so she decided to not interrupt. A smile spread across her face as she recognized Angelique standing there. "Hello," she said kindly. There was another woman sitting there, but she wasn't sure who she was.

Ted walked the halls a little slowly, hoping to run into Andromeda on the way. Of course, for all he knew, she might already be at the meeting. He had come in early today to square away a few things since he'd been gone for a while. Paperwork was his least favorite part of this job... but whatever needed to be done, he was happy to do.
He finally came to the meeting room, though, and smiled at the women present, casting a glance at Vincent. He felt distinctly outnumbered. "Good morning, everyone," he said, quietly enough not to cause a disturbance, and took a seat.

Andi's stomach was filled with butterflies that had nothing to do with the meeting she was on her way to attend. She knew Vincent Corrigan fairly well, having received much of her training with him, so she knew he was a nice guy. And she knew that she was unlikely to be named the new head of the Auror department. So, really, there was nothing for her to be nervous about... except for the fact that she would most likely be seeing Ted at this meeting.
It would drive her crazy, sitting there in that room full of people during a formal meeting, being unable to concentrate on anything but him. She liked him to the point of distraction, and she was beginning to wonder if this was going to be a hindrance in her doing her job.
As she entered the meeting room, she sucked in a breath. He was already there, looking gorgeous as always. Aside from Vincent, he was the only man in the room, and she jealously eyed the other women to see if they were looking at him the way she did. But she was relieved to see that they all seemed to be otherwise occupied.
She hesitated in the doorway for a fraction of a second, trying to decide where she should go. Should she sit near him? Next to him? Across from him, so she could look at him during the meeting? Or far away from him, where she would not be distracted by him?
Although common sense told her the last option was best, she couldn't bring herself to do it. She walked right up to him and smiled. "Good morning, Ted," she greeted him warmly.

Bridget turned and accepted the hand of the woman speaking to her. Shaking it she replied, "No, I don't believe we have. I'm Bridget." She thought the woman looked vaguely familiar, but the name didn't ring a bell. "Are you an auror as well?" She gestured briefly to the other aurors in the room. It looked as though her and Amelia were becoming outnumbered. Bridget was somewhat amazed at the number of aurors in the Ministry. She knew the tests and trainings were very tough and she could never have passed even the easiest of auror exams.

He didn't see her at all until she walked up to him, thought he thought he should have known someone was coming through the door. He gave her a bright, unguarded smile, looking up at her.
Merlin, she was beautiful, he thought. Everytime he saw her, she was beautiful and perfect and such a distraction.
"Good morning, Andromeda," he said, and pushed the chair next to him out with his foot, giving her a sly look as if he knew he was making up her mind for her. "Having a good day so far?" he asked quietly. He didn't want to interrupt the others there, but Vincent still looked busy, like he was waiting for more of them to show up.

Angelique smiled. "It's nice to meet you, Bridget," she greeted her. "Yes, I'm an auror. What do you for the Ministry, if you don't mind my asking? It's just that I don't tend to see a lot of people outside the Auror department. We're kind of like our own little bubble, if you know what I mean." She saw Emily passing by, and she smiled and waved in her direction. She would have to catch up to her later to ask how things were going with Vincent, now that he was Minister of Magic.

Andi smiled and sat down next to him. He looked so good this morning, she knew she was never going to be able to concentrate during this meeting. In a job where she had to be alert and suspicious at all times, her feelings for him had her just a little bit worried. Was she too distracted? As it was, she had already received some bad news this morning. And yet, seeing him now had her feeling so positive that it didn't even really seem to matter anymore.
"Well, I wasn't, but I am now," she said, trying to hide a guilty smile.

He frowned slightly, though he liked her answer. But as nice as it was to hear, it also meant she hadn't been having a good day so far. Or she was just saying it as something to say, but he was worried anyway.
He sat up a little straighter and turned his body towards her, showing her that she had his full, undivided attention.
"Why weren't you having a good day, love?"

She felt a little thrill go through her at the endearment. It took the sting away from what she had to say. She sighed and gave a disappointed sigh. "Well, I just heard back about that interview from the other day. I didn't get it. I'm not sure, but I have a feeling that Bella did. Now it looks like I'm going to have to take an alternate position." She leaned in a little closer, so no one else could hear. "The only openings left are in Arithmancy and Herbology. So it looks like I'm going to have to study up on my plants."

"Not at all," she responded. "I'm a slayer, so I don't usually make it to the Ministry a lot. I'm not really one for offices." She chuckled lightly. "Though I do come in on occasion, such as today, but Amelia here can vouch for me that I'm just a wreck when I'm expected here." She laughed again, looking briefly over at Amelia, then back to Angelique. "I suspect you find yourself quite at home, having to come in on a regular basis though?"

"And not your numbers?" he asked with a gentle smile. He just nodded a little. "Well... well, that's all right. At least there are still positions available, right?" he asked, wondering how to really say anything that would actually make her feel better. "I'm sorry. I can help, if you like, or if you need. I was decent at Herbology."
But Bella? He thought. How could she have gotten that position over Andi? She was never in a kind mood, and he was certain that she was the type tohate children. Unless she had changed from what he had seen at school, but hadn't Andi told him she hadn't changed at all?
He said none of this to her, though, not wanting to make her feel worse. He just wanted to be supportive.

Andi gave a wry smile. "Well, I never took Arithmancy when I was in school, so I'm not sure I'm entirely qualified to teach it. I was OK at Herbology, so I think I have a better shot at that one. The good thing is, I would have to interview directly with Dumbledore. With the last one, I was interviewing with Isabella Rothschild. If she gave the job to Bella, as I suspect, I think it must be because she saw a greater similarity between them. I'm sure you heard how Rothschild used to be a follower of You-Know-Who before she switched sides. Maybe she thinks she can be a good influence on Bella." She sighed and shook her head. "Either that, or Bella put on a really good act."
She still wasn't sure why Bella wanted the job in the first place. It didn't make sense to her. She could have sworn Bella had always claimed she didn't want to work after school. And teaching! It just wasn't Bella's style. At first, it had given her hope that Bella might be changing for the better, but now she was convinced that her sister had a darker purpose. But she didn't want to talk, or even think about that now.
"Anyway, thanks. I feel a little better just talking to you about it. I'm sure I'll figure something out."

"Of course you will," he said. "I have no doubt."
He had a theory boiling in his mind about why Bellatrix might be there, but it was just a hunch, and he'd never say it outloud to Andromeda.
"So," he said, trying to get her mind off of it, and switching to a new topic. "Who do you think will be the new head of our department?" He asked this even quieter, because his suspicion was already in the room.
