Pearl dressed in a pair of sturdy denim trousers and a comfortable Cotton shirt. the smell of the cotton fabrics was strangely comforting to her. She left the room she shared with Zander and went to find Dean, it was time he learned why she was Alpha and how to be a better wolf, he had to be if he was to survive like they had been meant to...but packs like Fenrir's and the DeathEaters had been changing what werewolves were. She walked into the common area of the home and called out "Dean? Where are you? Don't make me sniff you out!"

Dean was bored. He lay on the floor in a corner of the living room, his legs straight up against the wall as he stared sleepily up at the ceiling. What was it they were supposed to do all day? Zander and Chloe had jobs, and Skye did cooking and cleaning all day, and Karl chopped wood and made repairs. He had no interest in doing any of those things. He wanted to do something interesting and fun. But there was no fun to be had here. And to think, he had thought being a werewolf was cool!
He was just drifting off to sleep when he heard a voice calling his name. He sat up, too quickly, mumbling an unintelligible "Whayawant?"

"You are coming with me, You'll grow fat and lazy...er if you don't start trying to hone some of your skills." Pearl walked into the living room and poked her mate's pup with the point of her bare foot. "You are too human." she poked again.

Dean stumbled to his feet, realizing that he was about to get what he'd been hoping for. He wanted a good training session, so he would have a chance to improve his skills and control his newfound power. "OK, OK," he said. "I'm up. I'm ready... I want to learn."
Brushing himself off, he looked at her attentively. What kind of training were they going to do? Would they start with fighting? Or was there something else he had to learn? "What do we do?"

"First, you go outside. I won't have you destroying our home. " she put a hand on his shoulder and gave him a push towards the kitchen, where the back door was. "I know it doesn't agree with you, not having anything to do, but you are young, life has been fairly kind to you, You will learn." And with that she turned and walked to the door herself and stepped into the crisp autumn day.

Dean nodded quickly. "Yeah, OK," he said. He moved toward the back door, allowing Pearl to guide him outside. "Look, I know I've been kind of a screw up so far, but I swear, I'm willing to learn whatever it is you need to teach me. I want to learn how to control my powers and to use them properly."
Once outside, he stood ready to listen and do as he was told. He wasn't quite sure what they were going to do, but he was committed to giving it his best effort.

* swear I've replied to this !*
"Nonsense, you aren't a screw up, you are young. You need to learn how to be. " with a flash of red hair, Pearl dashed across the yard and dove low into a bush on the edge of the yard. With a horrible squeal she came out the other side of the bush holding a struggling hare, it thrashing and squealing in a horrible way. she trotted back to Dean holding out the hare. "I want you to catch him, and Not kill him. " she waited for him to nodd or say something before letting the thing go again.

Dean hesitated for a minute. His first instinct was to say that he was not an animal, and it didn't make sense to hunt for small game without a weapon of some kind. And not to kill the animal... what was the point? Yet she had done it with such ease. He'd never seen anything like it. He usually couldn't get animals to get anywhere near him. How had she managed to grab the creature so quickly?
"How.... did you do that?" he asked, staring at her.

Pearl smiled, "It's about how you use what you have, what you were given. You for lack of the better term are an Animal you can reason and think and speak, but you are an animal. Without us as a pack, where would you live? what would you eat? " she knew it was playing with food to do this with the hare, but Dean had to learn control. learning to catch and not kill was what pups did first after all, it took skill to kill, something which Dean had the strength for, but not the finesse. "When we are animals, we don't fail to reason, we fail to reason as we are now. You must tap into your animal, You are the animal, but reason enough to be Animal." she said simply and waited for him to give chase as she dropped the hare.

Dean felt a little ridiculous, but he took a deep breath, then took off at a run after the hare. He studied its movements. erratic and desperate. Sniffing the air, he was able to recognize the scent of fear, raw and primitive. Watching how the creature ran, he at first was convinced he could not outrun it. But then it reached a spot where it believed itself safe, and it stopped a moment. Crouching low on the ground, Dean advanced slowly toward the rabbit, keeping his noise to a minimum. But when he was just a few arm lengths away, he got impatient. Believing that he could outrun the rabbit if it ran now, he charged toward it. The rabbit, hearing the approaching movement, took off at another run, this time disappearing into the woods.
"Damn!" Dean yelled. "I almost had it!"

Pearl sighed. "You won't move past hare's if you don't learn to be patient." she trotted over to him and nudged him with her left hand. "You have the first part right, you used your nose, to went slow, which is good for a pup, but your speed is appalling." She , herself, was very quick, but she had been hunting for much longer than Dean. He was a brute. She looked at him to see if he was going to continue. "Well? aren't you going to catch him?" she asked expecting a tiny bark of frustration from Dean.

Dean let out a frustrated groan. "But it went into the woods," he complained. "How'm I supposed to find it in there? It's probably long gone. And I'll never be able to move quietly enough in there to keep from being heard." He realized he was full of excuses, and he fully expected her to yell at him for that. Before she could, however, his shoulders slumped in defeat. This wasn't really what he'd been hoping for in his training, but he supposed that he had to start somewhere. With a sigh, he took off at a run towards the woods.

Pearl sighed and took off her shoes, they did protect the feet, but they made moments clumsy. Her feet had long ago become thick skinned and tough, she used them as she had been meant to. she sprinted into the woods after Dean's clomping feet. "Dean, You're announcing your moments." she said as she caught up with him and cut him off so he would stop running blindly.

Dean stopped and stared at her helplessly. "I can't move the way you do... you and Skye... you make no noise when you walk. I can't do that. Is that something you can teach, or am I too heavy?"
He was frustrated already, and he was again beginning to believe he was useless.

Pearl shook her head, she smiled and sat down. "Dean sit down." She waited for him to sit down on the forest. "take off your shoes. You have tender feet and you wear clumsy shoes." she said pointing to his feet. This pup had a lot of basic things to learn.

"Take off my shoes?" Dean repeated, stunned. "You want me to run into the woods without shoes on? I'll step on something sharp and cut my foot! How do I sneak up on anything if I'm bleeding?"
He knew he really should be listening to every word, and not fighting her on everything. But the things she was saying didn't make any sense to him. She'd obviously been going without shoes for most of her life, but he couldn't do that.

She sighed "You have to start somewhere, We are not born running, Nor will you start running now. If you go slowly and become still, Prey begins to feel confident. We Deer gambol and kick up their hooves, it's not be quick, it's confidence." she hoped this was sinking in. Dean had confidence issues, he was a sad pup.

Dean sighed. This lesson wasn't at all how he thought this would go. He was impatient and anxious; he wanted to learn everything all at once, not start with silly lessons about bare feet and chasing rabbits. Still... if he was too negative, she'd probably turn him out. So he sat down and began to take off his shoes and socks.
"I'm sure the rabbit is long gone by now," he remarked.

Pearl laughed. It rang high and clear, and somewhere in the Forest a woodpecker began to tap against a tree. "Even if you had caught the rabbit, you would have broken it's neck with the force of your pounce. The point, Dean, wasn't that you caught the rabbit, but that you tried, and it's not that you run in the woods, it's that you start." she stood up and her face became fierce. "You can not go through life giving half the effort and believe you will get a full reward. If you can not help hunt, You eat last. You are not like many pups I've raised. You are an adult as a human, but you are a baby to me. If you can't handle being an adult I will treat you like a baby, If you want to be stronger and faster You will listen and stop trying to find fault in the world, because those who look find it." her face melted back to its normal serenity and she walked a bit away from him, still within his full view and she sat on small rock in dappled light. "Sit and wait for them to approach." she said as a few squirrels made their way down a tree trunk toward them.

She had the ability to make him feel very small. Right now he felt like a 5 year old who was being punished for not cleaning his room. He didn't like the feeling, and yet, he wanted to do better. He may not have agreed with her outlook on life, or her methods, but the results were important to him. He wanted to learn how to properly use his newly-gained skills. And if this was the only way to do it, then he would do as she said.
"OK," he said, taking a breath to relax himself. "I'll wait." He sat down on a fallen log and fixed his eyes on the approaching squirrels.
