Ever since Bridget had a run in with her double on her first day back on patrol, she had had an uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach. She had tried to ignore it, chalk it up to a strange coincidence. But the voice inside her head kept insisting that it was no accident she had met Morgan that night. And it was only after having looked through every wizarding genealogy book she could get her hands on and still coming up empty that she decided she needed a little help.
Ed had been coming over frequently to visit and would sometimes stay over night, though he was very respectful and slept on the sofa most of the time. But Bridget thought it was nice to have someone to wake up to in the morning, and someone who could manage to cook a decent breakfast. She hoped their relationship would become more...physical, but with her head so distracted with work and the mysterious Morgan, she didn't think it the right time to be starting anything. At least not yet.
Ed had been very understanding about everything. That is, everything she had told him about. None of it involving her near identical twin Morgan. For an unknown reason she had kept their encounter to herself. She knew if she told Ed, that he would be trustworthy. But she still couldn't force herself to tell him. The two had been getting on so well, that Bridget didn't want to bring up anything unsettling, even if she knew he would be there for her. But having nearly given up hope of finding anything out on her own, she sent an OWL to Ed, asking if he could come over.
She sat on her bed cross-legged, a small stack of genealogy books in front of her. She already knew they would be of no use, as she had read every last detail to no avail. She sighed and shifted the book order, staring at each one's cover then placing it at the bottom of the stack. She needn't bother with letting Ed in, he had a key of his own now and had felt comfortable using it for weeks. So she sat, waiting, staring, and thinking.

Edward had received an owl from Bridget, he was unsure about what she wanted. Once he arrived at her door he used his key to unlock the door then open it. He smiled as he walked in then shut the door, he walked over to the bedroom and smiled more once he saw her. "Hey."

In the silence of her thoughts she was able to clearly hear the front door unlock and Ed step inside. Just his presence in the house brightened her mood. After a few moments he was at the doorway to the bedroom. He was so casual with her now, and she with him. It was perfect. She almost had second thoughts about sharing her news with him now. But she knew she was just being silly. She should have told him about when it first happened, now it might seem as though she was keeping it secret on purpose. Which wasn't the case.
"Hullo darling," she purred. "How was your day? You were going to train with your bear friend, weren't you? Or perhaps I have my days confused..." She was stalling, but also she sincerely wanted to know about his day. She loved hearing him speak. Watching the way his mouth moved when he got really passionate about a subject. Or the way his brow folded ever so slightly when he became serious.

"That's tomorrow. Today I was just looking for animals that have passed on do I could use their pelts." Edward told her as he walked over to the bed and sat bedside her. He wondered why she had asked him over but he thought she would tell him when she wanted.

She smiled at him as he sat next to her on the bed. One of the books managed to slide toward him as his weight shifted the mattress. She picked up the rest of the stack and set them on the floor at the foot of the bed. Then she rested her elbow on her knee and clasped her chin in her hand. "Did you find anything worth using? You know I need a muff to go with the my lovely coat."

"Not this time, love." He looked at the book that had slid to him. "What's this for?" He asked as he saw it was a genealogy book.

She was glad he had mentioned the book, because as the two of them sat there Bridget became less confident that she could explain what had happened. She barely knew herself. But he had asked and she would comply. "That's actually what I called you here for. I- I've-" Her words failed her and she paused to regroup her thoughts. She decided it best to just tell the whole story and have him put it together as she had.
"When I first went back to work, remember they assigned me to simple patrols? Well, the first night the strangest thing happened..." She detailed how she had come across Morgan, and their striking similarities in appearance. And then how the girl had run off so suddenly. "And since then I've been trying to research my heritage, but its of no use. I don't even know my true surname. How am I supposed to find out about my family?" Her voice cracked as her desperation rose with the retelling. "It's so frustrating. I keep thinking about her, but I don't know anything more than her name. I can't even track her down to talk to her again."

"Well, do you know if she has a last name? If so and you know it try to look for things under her name, you might find something that way." Edward wasn't sure if what he said was helpful or not but he thought it was.

"Fontana," she replied. "But the line seemed to just disappear. There's no mention of it in the last hundred years." Bridget shook her head and looked at the blanket on her bed. "If you had seen her Ed, it was so weird. I have to find her again!" The girl had said she was taking a shortcut through the cemetery, but no one in the neighboring village had heard of her. It was like she was a ghost. "You don't think...what if she was a spirit? Or a vampyre? You don't think I'm making this all up, do you?" She looked imploringly into his eyes.

"No, love, I don't." Ed said as he put his arms around her. "If you want I could try to help you find her." He would do anything to help her, he kissed her forehead then smiled.

She looked up at him, tears forming in her dark eyes. She didn't want to believe that this woman was bothering her so because she wanted a family. She had always prided herself on how together and "normal" she had been while growing up an orphan. She didn't like to think that others had it easier than she, just because they knew their parents. And knew if they had siblings. She felt she was no better or worse than any other soul. But this Morgan thing...it was tearing her up. Perhaps she wasn't as put together as she led herself to believe.
"I know I should have told you about this when it happened. But I just thought...I thought I could figure it out on my own. But I can't and it's killing me." She lowered her head and buried her face in his chest, wrapping her arms around his waist for comfort.

Ed fell silent trying to think of what to say.

Bridget nestled into his lap, letting a few warm tears trickle down her face. She wanted to figure this out. Her heart ached to know why Morgan looked exactly like her. And why Morgan seemed to know nothing of Bridget, if they were in fact related. Ed's silence stung. Had she upset him by not telling him before? "I'm sorry," she murmured, trying to sound more together than she felt. "I should have said something sooner..." The tears began to fall again, despite her best efforts to hold them back.

"No, darling, no more tears." Ed whispered as he wiped away the fresh tears. "If it had been me I would have done the same thing. I would have waiting until I thought the time was right, I was just trying to think of how to help you and what to say." He smiled slightly and kissed her forehead.
(Woot! Back in his mind! -dances-)

His comforting helped her to feel a little better and she wiped away the tears as best she could. "I'm so happy I can finally tell you. I didn't know what else to do. I can't seem to find her anywhere." She lifted her head and looked into his eyes. "What should I do now?"

He looked down at her tear streaked face and gave a crooked smile. The best he could offer her at the moment was a shoulder to cry on. This would take some thinking to figure out. He was positive someone somewhere had heard of the girl, and Edward would do everything in his power to find that person. But the hour was growing late and the night was no time for her to be running about. She was off work tonight and he would keep it that way.
He lifted her chin and leaned down to kiss her. He lips usually tasted of something sweet, but tonight they were salty with tears. he didn't mind in the slightest. Just having someone to kiss was enough. He knew Bridget was off her rocker to fall for an idiot like him, and it pained him most days to not tell her off for it. But he loved her so much, he didn't want to lose her. It was for purely selfish reasons that he didn't allow her to let on to how odd their coupling was.

Bridget allowed their kiss to temporarily block out her despair. Running her fingers through his golden hair she allowed her defenses to be knocked down as they embraced, making love for the first time. It was a wonderful sensation as the thoughts of Morgan left her, to be replaced by thoughts of a future with Ed.
As they laid in bed, entwined in each other's arms, she smiled. "I don't know why I was putting that off for work. You're so much more fun than hunting vampires." She kissed his chest and ran her fingers up and down his bare arm.

Ed smiled with a silent laugh. She was adorable, nude in his arms. Her skin was so soft as it brushed against his. He was aware of how course his hands must feel to her, having wrestled and worked so hard that calluses were produced. And still, he had yet to actually kill a werewolf. Her speaking of vampires made him only too aware of his inept ability at his profession. "Hush now. Go to sleep. I don't want to hear any more about work from you."

"Fine," she said stubbornly, still staying in his arms. "But I'll speak about whatever I want tomorrow." She grinned softly as she drifted off to sleep.
