Even though it had been raining most of the day and the ground was soaked, Evelyn still preferred the outdoors to being cooped up inside the castle. The rain had stopped for now, but with the lack of sun it was certain to comae again which was why Evelyn carried an umbrella in her pocket, next to her wand. Unlike other times, when she was just out for a stroll through the rain, Evelyn wanted to get a little classwork done.
The best place she could find to sit was a little cliff near the Whomping Willow. It was rocky here, and thus less likely to get her clothes covered in muck and mud. And it was always interesting to contemplate the reasons this large, dangerous tree had been planted on school grounds a few years back.
Using a simple drying spell, Evelyn cleared a spot on a large boulder for her to sit, and another spot on a smaller boulder for her bookbag. She faced the tree, watching it sway harmlessly in the gentle winds, then pulled out her text for Care of Magical Creatures. The professor had set them an essay, at least 25 inches on how to properly identify and care for unicorn injuries. She flipped laggardly through the pages, wondering if the professor would accept an essay on what to do when a unicorn was bludgeoned by a willow tree.
