It was a day like any other. The sun was out every now and then, hidden briefly behind clouds but always managing to make an appearance shortly. The winds had been blowing all morning and showed no sign of letting up, not even for Oliver Porter; the famed yet slightly beef headed ex-Quidditch player. Oliver, or Ollie as his friends called him, thought the world ought to stop spinning when he wanted it to, and certainly that included having the winds die down long enough for him to get from point a to point b. And yet, nature wouldn't have it. She was a fickle b*tch, Mother Nature, and much like Oliver, didn't like to be told what to do. So the two collided on this Sunday afternoon as Ollie left his London mansion and apparated to Hogsmeade. He felt the simple townspeople there would be star struck enough to notice him, unlike the socialites of the big city. He noticed a small candy shop that he'd not been in to in many years. No, he had no need for such things, that is, until he noticed the attractive brunette working the counter. He wondered if she would recognize him or if he would have to turn on the charm to get the woman into bed.

Diane glance up as the bell sounded, she smiled a welcoming smile then went back to looking over the magazine. She hadn't known he was a famous person as she didn't bother with sports and the like. She flipped a page then circled a dress she would like to have once she had the money.

She was either playing coy or she didn't recognize him, either way she would be a challenge and as a professional athlete, Oliver was always up for a challenge. He grabbed the item nearest the counter, a sucker of some sort, and then leaned his elbow on the counter. He gave the brunette a flashy smile and said "Hello love. What is an attractive woman like yourself doing working in such a ruddy little shop? Haven't you got a husband to bring in the money?"

Diane smiled and shook her head, "I'm not married and I'm working here to get me a place to live, right now my boss is letting me stay at his place until I do." She mentally kicked herself for telling things costumers shouldn't know, she always told her life's story but she was going to change that.

There a glimmer of hope when she said that she wasn't married. But what was this business about living with her employer? It seemed rather odd and Ollie would need to get more information. "That doesn't sound very kosher if you ask me. Fancy your boss then?"

"I had thought we were dating because we both had feelings for one another in school... but I haven't seen him in a while, months actually..." Diane said and once again she mentally kicked herself, she hated being so open with anyone and everyone she met.

"Well a pretty rose like yourself ought not to be alone for so long. Would you care to join me for supper tonight?" Oliver leaned forward on the counter, showing off his stunning smile.

What is it with the men lately? She wondered to herself, she smiled and said, "I'm sorry but I really have to take the money to the bank and count the stock, it usually take until midnight."

She was playing hard to get. Oliver knew this game well. And he knew how to combat it. "Well then, I guess it will just have to be a very late supper," he said confidently.

"C'mon love. You've got to eat some time, haven't you?" Her prolonged silence made him confident. If she hadn't wanted to accept, she would have come up with another excuse by now.

Diane chewed on her lower lip, she wondered why he was trying so hard to take her out. "I am really sorry, sir, but I have to work." She said as another customer walked up to the counter, she was a student from the school and she giggled as she had been beside the man. She told the girl the price then watched as she left, she wondered why the girl had giggled. Sure he was handsome but she didn't know him enough to date him. She also didn't know Edmund either.

Before the young girl left, Oliver flashed her a winning smile. She was clearly a fan. Perhaps her presence would further entice the beauty in front of him. Honestly, he usually didn't have to work so hard at getting a date. But now it was the principal of the matter. He didn't even know the woman's name yet and he had to have her. "One of my fans," he bragged as he pointed to the door where the girl had left. "I bet she'd be awful mad at you for turning down a date with me."

"Fan? Of what?" She had to admit she was intrigued at why he would have a fan. She got some money out of her own pocket and paid for a chocolate frog before getting one for herself. She was getting hungry but she couldn't leave as she was the only one working.

Ollie chuckled pompously. "Oliver Porter," he offered his hand in a formal greeting at last. "I was a beater for Puddlemere United. Played for eight years." He looked rather proud of himself and in fact he was. He had been a very good Quidditch player before his injuries.

Diane rose an eyebrow but took his hand nonetheless, "Diane Corwin." She still had no idea what he was talking about, sure she knew what a beater was but other then that. "I don't really know what you're on about, I know what a beater is but nothing else. I'm not really into Quidditch."
