Isabella had deliberated for several days, and discussed it with Voltaire, before she made a decision. Her feeling was that Andromeda was probably the better candidate in a lot of ways, but she was overqualified, and would get bored quickly. A young witch with her talents could do almost anything... why would she want to be a teaching assistant? But for Bellatrix, the opportunity was better for her. The girl had just finished school, and she was closer in age to the students. And by working as an assistant, she could build skills that she could use in later jobs.
For all these reasons, Isabella decided to give the job to Bellatrix. So she sent her an owl:
Dear Bellatrix,
I'm pleased to inform you that your application as a teaching assistant in Defense Against the Dark Arts has been accepted. You will be starting next Monday. Please stop by the school at your earliest convenience, so we can go through some paperwork and discuss the job in greater detail.
Sincerely,
Isabella Rothschild

This was perfect. She had conned her way into the job and there would be no need for any mysterious disappearances, though that would have been quite fun. The only thing that disturbed Bellatrix was the length of time it took that dimwitted professor to make up her mind. Her thoughts instantly went to Andromeda, the only other known applicant. Had she been asked to fill the position first, but declined it for some reason? Was it really that hard to tell Bela was better in every way compared to Andromeda? But the girl quickly shook these thoughts from her head. Rothschild was a fool afterall. Fools can hardly be expected to think straight.
