New robes

Edward walked around the shop he was having to buy his fifth new robes that week. He browsed the robes that were there, he sighed, sometimes he wondered why he even bothered buying them.

Bridget was shopping for a birthday present for one of her girlfriends and decided to look at Madame Malins, since her friend was obsessed with clothes. The store was rather empty, being that it was the middle of the day on a Wednesday, when most people were at their jobs. But Bridget didn't have a conventional wizarding job, and was able to do as she pleased with her daylight hours. The store was sectioned off, with the premade robes hanging on racks on the left side of the store, nearest the window. It was the robe in the window that had first caught her eye. A lavender robe with silver rose detail and silver clasps on the front. She was walking over to the window when she suddenly tripped over a measuring wand and fell forward. Luckily she fell into the arms of a nice looking blond man.

"Oh, I'm so sorry!" She pleaded for the man's forgiveness. "I'm so embarassed."

Edward was caught by surprise when a girl, or rather a woman fell into his arms. "It's alright." He said smiling as he helped her stand. He looked at her as he seemed familiar, "Do I know you?" He knew he knew her but he couldn't remember where they could have met.

Bridget was able to get to her feet with some help, but her cheeks would take much longer to return to their normal, pale coloring. At the moment they were bright pink, along with the rest of her face and even her ears. She wasn't know for being a klutz, therefore when she made a fool of herself it took much longer for her to mellow out than some.

Do I know you?

She turned to get a better look at the man as she fussed with her hair. Clearly he was able to get a great look at her when she basically fell into his lap. But in her embarrassment she hadn't paid any attention to his face. Yes, she did know him. They had met at the Ministry of Magic, though she couldn't recall why he was there.

"I believe we met at the Ministry. Mr St. Clare introduced us, if I'm not mistaken."

She wasn't mistaken. She had a very good memory for this sort of thing. Her work was her life, if only she had something to fill the excess time with...

"Oh.. yeah.. that's right... you're the Vampire Slayer, right?" Ed remembered that, he had made a fool of himself, he almost didn't get his name out, he had been so stunned by her beauty. He hoped he wouldn't make a fool of himself this time round.

[Bridget Harvey]

"You're the Vampire Slayer, right?"

"Yes," she said sweetly, a broad smile appearing on her face as her pale color slowly returned. "Bridget," she reminded him. "And you're Edward. A werewolf hunter. We have quite similar jobs, you and I. Funny how fate has brought us together again..."

Ed grinned, "Call me Ed." Good, you're not making a fool of yourself. Just as he thought that he went to lean on a wall but put his hand on an unstable rack and fell over. Great. Ed quickly stood up and brushed himself off and tried to act like nothing happened.

She had opened her mouth to speak when Ed suddenly fell over, along with a rack of robes. She took a step forward to help him but he had situated himself so quickly she didn't have time.

"You're too sweet Ed. Not many guys would fall over themselves in public to let a woman they barely know not look ridiculious for falling first."

She smiled sweetly at him and touched his arm as she started to laugh.

"Hey, do you wan to go get something to drink? I've been out all day and I just realized I'm dying of thirst."

Ed felt his heart leap when she touched his arm. "Erm... uh... o-of course... I-I mean. Yes." He ran a hand through his hair a little embarrassed by how he was fumbling on his words once more.

"Erm... uh... o-of course... I-I mean. Yes."

She wanted to giggle as he stuttered over his words. It was cute how nervous he seemed, and over nothing. But she didn't want to embarrass him further, knowing full well that he had not fallen to ease her own embarrassment. Forgetting all about her friend's robes, she turned with Ed and headed out the door.

"Where would you like to go? The Leaky Cauldron?"

"Erm.. sure." Ed hoped he wouldn't stutter every time he spoke, it was hard for him when he was around someone as stunningly beautiful as her. He tried to keep his breathing steady and his eyes on either the ground or sky as they walked.
