OK, guys, the board has had an explosion of members and activity in the last couple of weeks. This is a great thing, and I'm really thrilled and honored to have you all here and creating multiple characters and having fun. I don't want to limit your creativity, however, we're in danger of breaking out into chaos if I don't lay down some rules. I don't like doing this and I don't want to be too hard on you guys. But this board used to be so easy to manage, and it's getting a little difficult now. So I need you to make it a little easier on me by doing the following things:
1. If you already have more than 4 characters, please PM me and ask if you can create another before you do it. Some of you are better at handling multiple characters than others, and so I can't allow everyone to create a dozen characters. I can do it, but that's just me. I need to see each character as distinctive, individual, and with something to add to the board as a whole. If all your characters sound the same then there is no reason for you to create another.
2. Please use the spell check option. I beg you.
3. If you see two people in a thread having a private conversation, stay out of it! Or at least ask before you post there. Don't just assume that all threads are open to everyone to post in... sometimes plot-related threads are meant to be semi-private and an intrusion from another unrelated character will mess things up. Likewise, if you are posting in a thread and don't want an outside interruption, label the thread closed to all but those already in it. But even if the thread is unlabeled, don't just barge in unless you are involved in that part of the plot. Ask first. Unrelated intrusions may be deleted!
4. I consider this to be a fairly serious RP. We have a plot going on here, and I want everyone to take that into consideration. Not everyone is fully involved in the plot... that is understandable. But there is a plot going on and I want everyone to read the plot summary (I will try to update it soon) and check out the character profiles in the Plot Planning subforum of the Plot Discussion board. And if you have not made one for your character, PLEASE DO SO! Also, don't be afraid to contribute ideas for your character(s) in the plot discussion thread. I want you all to be involved in anyway possible.
5. No "god-modding." What is "god-modding?" This is when you make your characters do things that they shouldn't be able to do, or know things they shouldn't know, or have powers that don't make sense. Every character must have limitations. If they have a certain power, it must be built into the character from the start. But remember that they must also have weaknesses. And don't act like you know someone is a Death Eater, for example, when you don't actually know them.
6. If you are a student, please actually attend some classes. You don't have to attend all of them, just show up for class once in a while, OK?
I have promoted Voltaire SkipIt to full admin status to assist me in enforcing these rules. And he's not as forgiving as I am, so please try to follow them.
Thank you.
