Sirius smiled as he caught sight of her, ducking out from behind some shelves. But his smile quickly slipped away as he remembered Kris was still with him. Still, as Amy passed, then paused in front of them, he felt their eyes lock. He couldn't look away from her, and he couldn't breathe. What was it about her that made him feel like this?
He was scum, that's what. He remembered Kris standing next to him a second before she spoke. "Uh, yeah, yeah. Sure. Let me just find that magic parchment stuff," he said. He tore his eyes away from Amy and looked around until he spotted what he was looking for on the next display table, close to the front counter. Taking Kris by the hand, he led her to the display and grabbed a stack of the parchments. He figured he'd need a few in case they made mistakes along the way. Besides, he could always use the rest to pass notes to James in class.
"OK, let's go," he said to Kris, as he headed toward the checkout counter.

Kris wanted to go outside right then but she was worried if she left him alone with Amy in the store he would go flirt with her. She wanted to trust him but she couldn't not when she had caught him flirting with her then her sitting beside him. She wondered if her keeping half of her life away from him was driving him away, she pushed that idea to the back of her mind and quickly blinked back tears.

Sirius was oblivious to Kris's tears. He paid for his supplies, then took Kris's hand. "Come on, we'll go get some candy, OK?" he said, not noticing her face. He squeezed her hand lightly, even as he began to scan the store to see where Amy was.
He spotted her close to the door, but with her back to them. He released a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding, and began to walk towards the door. He tried to keep his eyes forward, but he couldn't help allowing them to wander over in her direction. As they reached the door, he glanced over at her quickly, saying a silent goodbye, then left the store.
Only then did he feel like he could breathe again.

Amy walked to the front of the store, and had her back to the rest of the store. Maybe here she could think clearly, however she knew that thought to be false. She knew that she couldn't ever think clearly, or breath correctly whenever Sirius was in the room. Amy tried, but she ended up failing. As she pretended to looking at the display in front of the store, her body tensed up as she heard people behind her. She glanced out of the corner of her eye and noticed it was the couple and they left. Amy also heard that they were going to go get candy. Sure, that was the next place on her list, but she decided that maybe, just maybe she should take a detour, however she didn't want to. Her body relaxed as they left and she continued her looking.
Amy took her time as she continued to glance around, finally deciding that she was finished. She walked up to the counter and paid for her items. Heading out the door, Amy took a deep breath. Maybe the rest of her trip here, she wouldn't run into Sirius. However, she knew that the chances of that were slim to none.
