Quinn laughed and kissed him quickly. "Oh, I think you'll figure it out," she said. "If you forget, I can remind you how to do it. You know me... I love to party! And I definitely think we both need it right now. Things have been so tense around here lately... I'm getting desperate to get out of here. What do you think? Maybe we can do it tomorrow and tell Gretchen we're spying on the members of that other pack."

Korbel laughed at the thought of just telling Gretchen they would be spying on members of the other pack. "Of course we could just tell her that, but then come back drunk? Oh yes. I'm sure that she would believe that we just went to spy on the members of the other pack. Unless of course we didn't actually come back tomorrow night. Maybe we could just return early the next morning before anyone wakes up. That would be alright." Getting out of there was exactly what he needed. Gretchen seemed to be breathing down everyone's neck while she awaited the hunter's return for his sister.

"Yeah, I like that idea," Quinn said, smiling deviously. "We'll just stay out all night and tell her that we were watching them the whole night. But you better let me do all the talking... you know I'm a better liar than you are." It was true, Quinn could effortlessly tell lies without anyone suspecting a thing.

"Oh you can do all the talking. I'll just stand back and nod my head," said Korbel. He was never one to be able to tell a lie. Not only would his eyes give him away, so would his scent. Quinn was a remarkable one when it came to lying, which only made him wonder if she ever lied to him. He shook the thought from his head. "We should go tonight. Leave when the sun goes down behind the trees, telling Gretchen that it would be better if we go at night so that way they can't really see us."

"Sounds good to me," Quinn said. She beamed happily; she was desperately craving a drink and a good wild party. She wanted to just throw her hair back and dance until she dropped. It would be different, spending the whole night dancing with Korbel, instead of flitting from one guy to another all night. But she knew that his jealoous nature would be a problem, so she would have to stay with him. It was OK, though, because she wanted to be with Korbel more than anyone else.
"Well, I guess we'd better hurry back to camp. Gretchen's probably furious right about now. I should tell her what I know."

Gretchen was getting angry and impatient. Where were Korbel and Quinn? She needed to know what had happened with Quinn. If the other pack had hurt Quinn, they would definitely have a fight on their hands.
She glared hatefully at Ashura. "Well, it looks like your pack members actually missed you, after all," she sneered. "They just attempted a rather pathetic rescue... unfortunately, they didn't even get close to camp! But they may have wounded Quinn, and if they did, then they're going to pay!"

Korbel nodded in agreement with Quinn. He walked swiftly back to camp with Quinn at his side. There was no telling how angry Gretchen was, but there was no way around avoiding her.
Upon entering camp, Korbel started looking for Gretchen. Seeing her near Ashura, he motioned for Quinn to keep up. "Gretchen," he said as he approached.

Gretchen gladly turned her back on the little whelp and looked at Korbel. Behind him, she saw Quinn standing there, picking twigs out of her hair. Both of them looked terrible. "All right, I'm listening," she said. "Tell me what happened. And don't leave out any details. How many of them were there, and what did they do to you? Did they say anything?"

"I saw four of them," Quinn replied, stepping forward and facing Gretchen. "First it was the pup... he was hot for me, so I tried to lead him away. I think he got lost... he was nervous as could be, and I think he did some wrong magic, because he just appeared right before me. Then another one came up and told me to let go of him. She was really tall, skinny, and blonde. Almost as tall as you, but skinny like a twig. I fought with her, and she was tougher than she looked. She got a few good blows in, but I knocked her down. I was going to get really vicious then, but the pack leader--the one with the dark hair came up next, and brought his mate with him. She was small with red hair. She tried to fight me, but the pack leader used magic to tie me up and leave me on the ground. Then they all disappeared again, and I guess the pack leaders came back alone to try and find the camp. It was not a well-organized attack, if that's what it was. But I think the pup screwed things up, because he didn't know what he was doing."

Gretchen frowned and rubbed her chin thoughtfully. "Thank you, Quinn. That's very interesting... I think we can use this information. Apparently, there is a new pup in this pack, who has not been well trained... and it sounds like Zander is a little uncertain of his leadership role. Excellent... Maybe in addition to disposing of the hunter, I can find a way to take over this pack's territory as well...."
She threw her head back and laughed, an icy cold sound that wasn't all that different from a wolf's howl. "You have both done well. Go, get some rest. I'll have Damien be the lookout for tonight. Tomorrow, we will discuss strategy."
She waved them aside dismissively, then headed into her own tent for some planning.
