Voldemort pulled the doors shut with a flick of his wand and entered the room where he killed his father and grandparents. He waved a crib into existence and placed the child in it, glad to be rid of it. "We need a new nurse for the child." he said looked at Charles in a side glance then turned to him. "I also need this child to be taught, that's where you come into play. once this child is old enough, You will teach him how to be a good wizard, the beginning of my take over of Hogwarts, I will need acceptable teachers." he said with a malicious grin.

Charles nodded. "I will search for a nurse immediately, my lord," he said. He gave a low bow and added, "I am honored that you entrust me with such an important and difficult task as teaching the child. I will do my best to be sure that I am worthy."

"Yes, see to it that you are." Voldemort said lighting a fire." For doing what you do Mortensen, You aren't an ignorant man, tell me why have you been degrading the name of deatheater with what you've been doing?" asked Voldemort raising what should of been an eyebrow at Charles.

Charles didn't blink. He had expected Voldemort to bring up this issue with him sooner or later. He was only surprised it had taken so long. "I realize my drinking has been a problem in the past, my lord. But it is past. It was a phase I went through, a bit of a depression. It will not happen again."

"Depression?" Voldemort's eyes narrowed " see that it stays past." this displeased him, but he was still serving him and was still a loyal follower. Voldemort turned away from Charles and then walked over to the still cramped bookshelf of his...regrettable family. With a sweep of his hand books on one shelf flew off and crashed to the floor, causing the child to wail with fear.

Charles frowned. He could have mentioned something about Keira and how she had left him for Tom, but he felt it unwise to bring up their names. "I will be back soon, my Lord," he replied quietly. He took a quick look at Conor, who was crying pitifully. He wished he could reassure the child that his mother would soon be here for him, but he could not. Instead, he walked out without another word.

Isabella peeked into the window of the room where her son was being held. She could hear Conor crying loudly, and she ached for him, wanting to run to him and get him out of there. But she needed to wait until Voldemort was out of the way...

Voltaire's crashes from the halls was as loud and intended and he pushed his way through doors and in to the large room. Voldemort turned to see who had entered. Voltaire felt like a shock of cold water splashed on his back but quickly waved some of the same books from the shelf off and toward the Dark Lord, exploding some to flurries of paper and smoke. He ran into the room and made it to the cradle that held his wailing son. His arms wrapped around his tiny body and his heart pounded with joy and fear. He ran back toward the door, feeling his legs seethe toward the door.

Charles heard the sound of glass shattering and ran back up the stairs, realizing that Isabella had gotten impatient and had decided to smash her way in. She would need backup...

Behind them, Isabella vanished the glass of the window and climbed into the window. She wanted to snatch Conor away from Voltaire; she still didn't know if she could trust him to keep their son safe this time. But instead, she aimed a shield spell at them to protect them, while she turned on Voldemort fiercely.

Voltaire caught sight of the woman firing spells at the dark lord. "Distraction time is over love! Move!" he said and he grabbed her upper arm and tugged her out the door. "Down the stairs!" he said making his way toward the open front door. His son was still crying, but not nearly as the terrified squeals from before.

Charles ran up and saw Voltaire, holding the baby with one arm and Isabella with the others. He narrowed his eyes at him and stood still, looking at Isabella for a cue of what to do.

"Go!" Isabella yelled at Charles, "just get out of here, fast!" She ran past him and down the stairs, Voltaire still holding on to her arm. She wondered silently what he was thinking, and whether any of his memories were coming back to him yet. She shook her head; she couldn't allow herself to get distracted with these thoughts. Voldemort would not remain still for so long.

Voldemort caught sight of Charles and yelled at him furiously "Get her! Kill her!" he past the devastated hail of books and ash and followed after the parents of the child. How did they know of this place? he was blinded by anger and fury.

Charles froze. This was the moment, he knew. He took a deep breath and said boldly, "No." Then he turned to run away, blocking Isabella's escape from Voldemort.

Voldemort stopped and said "Fool! Avada Kedavra!" a blast of hot green light slammed into Charles and his body sailed down the steps before the woman and that blasted traitor. "YOU! You did this! Crucio!" his wand lashed out hit Isabella squarely.

Isabella felt the curse hit her from behind and she let go of Voltaire's hand and fell to the floor, thrashing in agony. She fought against the power of the curse, trying urgently to shake it off. She dimly recognized Charles's body as it fell down the stairs and landed just near her. But Voltaire... where was Voltaire and her son....? She cried out in a strangled voice, but her words were not recognizable.

Voldemort cut the spell off after only a moment. He slashed at Isabella and a gash appeared at her side. he finished walking down the stairs and leveled his want at Voltaire. "Remebering the last time I used that spell on you? Your wife looks lovely in agony don't you agree?" he sneered evilly.

Isabella panted heavily and clutched her side, feeling the damp, sticky blood that was staining her side. Weakly, she looked up at Voltaire and whispered, "Get out," hoping that he would have enough sense to apparate with their son. She reached over and grabbed Charles's lifeless hand while she put her other hand on the necklace Voltaire had given her. She barely whispered his name before she vanished.

Voltaire stood in horror and shock at what was happening before him. still clutching his son to him, he heard...the woman.. no, Ethan's mother tell him to leave, than vanish with the body of that blond man. He didn't need much prompting of his legs to get them to move. He concentrated on his location, and vanished.
