I have removed and cancelled our C Box. Tomorrow, I will be signing us up for a new shout box service, that will have more features and will hopefully be less annoying.

If anyone else is having the same problem where you have to constantly retype your name into the new cbox everytime you make a new message- its most likely a cookie problem and here's how to fix it.

Go into your browser and bring up the Options or Settings box (with firefox go to the Tools Menu and click "Options"; with Internet Explorer go to the Tools Mnu and click "Internet Options"). Click the tab that says "Privacy".

With Firefox: Check the box beside "Accept Cookies from Sites" and select "Until they Expire" from the drop down list below it. Then hit OK.
(If you know what cookies are and are not comfortable with accepting them from ALL sites you can simply leave the box unchecked and click the "Exceptions" button next to it. Type in shoutbox.chat4all.net and hit "Allow".)

With Internet Explorer: After going to the "Privacy" tab, click and drag the slider all the way to the bottom rank so that it says "Accept All Cookies" and then hit OK.
(Again, if you know what cookies are and aren't comfortable with accepting them from ALL sites you can simply leave the slider where you previously had it and select "Sites" below it. Type in shoutbox.chat4all.net and hit "Allow".)

That should work. If you have older versions of Firefox or IE and would like it explained better to suit each version, I can do that too. If you haven't ever changed these settings before and don't have any kind of firewall that would block cookies automatically, then they should already be correctly set.

And another thing, cookies are NOT bad things. They can't directly harm your computer in any way or anything. For a better explanation of what they are, they save information that you enter on websites on your computer. For instance, if you type in your password and username on here (Up to No Good) and you're currently allowing cookies (sometimes a separate dialog box will come up to ask you if you want to save information you enter everytime you enter something on a site, but the cboxes work differently so it usually doesn't happen with that) it will save your username and password so that as soon as you type in your username and click on the password box, your password will automatically appear. The only privacy problem this can sometimes create is if you share a computer with other people and don't want them to have access to your passwords and usernames etc. The other thing is that viruses are sometimes programmed to directly search for cookies and send them back to certain people, but if you have a good firewall or whatever and you're sure you don't have a virus, there isn't a problem.

OK, sorry for such a long post. I just thought I should explain that all so that you guys know how to fix the problem.

It may just be a temporary down time for the site or something, because the main site isn't working either. We'll have to see. If it doesn't come back up within a few hours, I'd say something is wrong.
