Esmerelda had just moved from her home in Colombia to the United Kingdom because she had taken the job as Care of Magical Creatures professor at Hogwarts. She had never seen such a large place, especially for a school! Even when she had attended her school in Colombia for magic, it was like any other school – Muggle school, that is. What kind of school was in a castle?! It was simply amazing. However, Esmerelda had no idea how she was going to remember her way around the place. In fact, she was lost at that very moment as she was trying to find her way out of the castle and down onto the grounds. Sighing heavily, she ran her fingers through her hair, a wild mass of waves. She blinked a few times and strolled down more and more corridors and made her way down staircases. Only by luck had she found her way out of the castle and onto the grounds. She let out a relieved sigh, glad that she was not going to be late for her first lesson as Care of Magical Creatures professor.
She looked around. The place appeared to be a nice place to teach a lesson. She knew that she was going to have to go through the basics of caring for animals as well as the extra things that help keep the students safe from harm in the classroom, or anywhere in general. The sun beamed down upon her, making it somewhat warm outside. She did not mind it though, since she was used to the heat. But then again, she was wearing black robes, which attracted the sun’s light. She wiped her forehead and then ran her hand across her neck, moving her hair from her neck. She then looked around, waiting for the students. After a few moments, she sat herself on the ground, crossing her legs in a yoga-style position. She yawned lightly and then looked around as she heard a noise off in the distance.

Ian walked out to the grounds for his Care of Magical Creatures lesson and saw the new teacher standing there. She was really pretty and he smiled at her. "Hi, you must be the new teacher," he said. "I'm Ian Smith. This has always been my favorite class."

Esme turned her head to see her first arrival to class. She smiled at him kindly and stood to her feet, wiping the back of her robes off. She then nodded at him and spoke. "Welcome to class then, Ian. And I am glad that this has been your favorite class. I hope that, even with me here, this will still be your favorite." She told him, her light Spanish accent present, though it pronounced the words perfectly. She looked around, shielding her eyes from the sun. Afterwards, she looked for the other students, waiting for them to arrive.

[OOC: Does not matter. The more the merrier!]
Esmerelda turned as she saw another student approach she and the other student on the ground. Esme offered her usual friendly smile and then spoke, her voice the same as before. "Hello. Who might you be?" She asked kindly and then waited for the response from the new arrival.

"It's nice to meet you Lucie." She said with a kind smile and a friendly tone to her voice. She watched as Ian greeted her. Esme just supposed that they were friends. "I'm Esmerelda Mirabel, but please, call me Esme." She told them. She almost despised her first name, so she preferred being called by a nickname. And, though most people liked being called professor, she preferred not to. So, she just let the students call her by a nickname as well.

Sabrina walked out to the lawn for her first Care of Magical Creatures class. She wasn't exactly happy about it, since she'd been transferred to this class when they'd decided to cancel Arithmancy. She really would have preferred to take Arithmancy, but she supposed she could understand that it wasn't worth the effort to teach only one student. She looked around and saw Lucie and a boy she didn't really know. The teacher, who she also did not recognize, was standing there talking to them.
She walked up and handed the teacher a note. "Hi," she said. "I've been transferred into this class because my Arithmancy class has been cancelled. I hope that's OK."

Esme turned her attention to the new arrival, a girl that introduced herself to be called Sabrina. Esmerelda smiled kindly and then nodded as the girl explained her situation and how she had been switched. She nodded and then tucked her long hair behind her ears.
"Okay, thank you for telling me. But, to be honest, it would not have mattered. I am new here as well." She shrugged and then noticed that she had a very small amount of students in her class at the moment. She figured that it would grown and expand as the year progressed.
"Alright, I think that we can, erm, start now." She slurred her words somewhat and then there was silence for a moment. She then inhaled deeply and looked around at them. "I think that we can kind of get introduced so that we are not complete strangers. I am going to be honest that today is going to be a rather...dull lesson. I know that most of you probably already know what I am going to explain. However, it should get better.
"Anyway, I am Esmerelda Cifuentes, the obviously new Care of Magical Creatures professor here at Hogwarts. Just to give you some background information on me, I am not from here. You may have been able to tell that, since I have a light accent in my voice. Or you may not have. Um, this if my first year teaching, so I am hoping that I can doa good job of it as well as continue to teach and do it well. Anyway, with that said, do either of you have any questions in regards to myself or the class? Suggestions that you wish to bring up, maybe ideas for the class? I am always here and listening." She moved her hands as she spoke. She looked at them all expectantly.

Ian raised his hand. "I think maybe the class might be a little livelier if you could open it up to first and second years," he suggested. "There are a lot of first years, and not a lot of older students. Maybe you could talk to Professor Dumbledore?"

Esme listened and then nodded at the idea of having younger students in the classroom. She then spoke. "That would make things a bit more...lively." She said and then nodded. "I will most definately have to talk to Professor Dumbledore about it. In the meantime, are there anymore suggestions, questions, comments, concerns, or funny jokes before I continue?" She waited for a response from any of the students.

Sirius walked down to his first lesson of COMC. "I've got a joke, it's corny but funny." He said.

[Erm, okay]
Esme looked around at her students and shook her head as they spoke. "Okay then. Can anyone tell me what the safety rules for Care of Magical Creatures are?" She asked them and waited to see if anyone knew. Of course, the rules should have been fairly obvious since they were simple and easy to follow.

Natalie walked up to the class and stood back shyly. "Hi, Professor," she said. "Did you talk to my uncle about my watching your class?"
