Severus entered the empty class room and set up his ingredients and equipment. He had an idea as to get rid of the addictive quality of the Dreamless Sleep. After he set up the first Potion he started a second cauldron with the regular potion set up. He looked at his heavily criss crossed notes and noticed something. Runespore's fang, it was a high lighted ingredient because if the fang came from the despondent head, It negates narcotic substances. In that second he went to Slughorn's Private stores and forced the doors open with a spell and quickly found a small vial of fangs. he poured them out and picked the slimmest of them. this had to be from the despondent head! he checked the first potion and it seemed ready for the next set of ingredients and corrections. he added them and let it to simmer again. the second cauldron was at a slow boil and he added the dried wormwood and let it to steep, with no movement no so much as a swirl of the herb dropping into the bottom. He started a third cauldron and worked out when he should add the fang, it would be at the end.
By the end of the fourth hour the first cauldron was a wasted effort. it was noxious. he whisked it away with his wand and pushed his limp hair out of his face, the test cauldron was perfect, that wasn't a surprise, he looked at the last cauldron and it was ready for the wormwood, he dropped it in and then it to steep, like the test cauldron.
After another hour it was back to a boil and he dropped the fang into the potion, the surface roiled and then it calmed. it was a Smokey blue but it was clear, unlike the original potion. He had to find Professor Slughorn, he had to have the potions master test it. He cut the flames on the cauldrons and placed them under cooling charms and bottled two flasks of each. labeled them and cleared his efforts. then he went to find the Professor.
