"You can stay if you want." Coda said quietly. She knew what to say but it was how to say it, she knew she would have to tell Athena about Goss and why she didn't come back. She had already made up her mind about telling her what had happened the night before.

Athena glanced from Coda to Zander and back again. "OK, we can talk," she said worriedly. She walked back over to the couch and sat down, then looked at Coda. "You can tell me anything. What's going on? Why did you run away?"

Coda kept her eyes on the floor and slowly walked into the room more. "Well, there's this wolf that use to be in the pack I was in. He left and took most of the pack with him because he didn't like that Sauris had took me in. I know that he would hurt anyone I was close to, I didn't want you or anyone to get hurt." Tears formed in her eyes as she looked up, she absentmindedly put her hand on her shoulder to one of the new scars.

Athena was surprised. "That's why you left?" she asked. "I thought that it was something I said... that I scared you away." She relaxed slightly and patted the spot next to her on the sofa. "Please, sit down, don't be afraid. We can protect you from these wolves. We can set up magical protections. In fact, we already have some set up to protect Wesley and Natalie. We can make sure nothing happens to you or anyone else."

Coda walked to the couch and sat beside Athena. "I just didn't want anyone to get hurt like I did last night."

Athena gasped. "You were hurt last night?" she said worriedly. "What happened?" She leaned closer and saw some gashes on the girl's face and neck. "Are you OK?"

"I'm fine, but if Skye, Chloe and I think his name is Karl, if they hadn't came I probably wouldn't be here now. I was looking for my pack but they moved, I couldn't even find their scent." Tears formed in Coda's eyes.

Athena immediately put her arms around Coda and held her tightly. "I'm glad they were able to help you," she said. "I don't think I could stand it if anything happened to you.. do you know, I've always wanted a daughter?"

Coda nodded. "Yeah, I realized that if I went away somewhere that it would hurt you more then Goss hurting you."

Athena smiled. "It would. I was terrified when found out you'd gone. I've already become very attached to you." She reached over and ruffled the girl's hair. "And I don't know what I'd do if something happened to you. Don't worry, we'll figure out a way to protect you and the rest of the family from this Goss."

"It's OK," Athena said. "Everything is fine now. And i'm very glad you got to meet my brother. Do you like these people, Coda? Do you think maybe you might want to spend your full moons with them? I know I can trust them to make sure you are safe."

Zander, who had been sitting by the window quietly, now broke into a smile. "Oh, definitely," he said. "We'd be glad to have her. Since you guys live in town, you could just walk her over here on the night of the full moon. Or I could pick her up. It shouldn't be a problem. As you mgiht have seen, Coda, we have a couple of young ones here in the pack. Remus and Kris aren't much older than you are."

Tears of happiness formed in her eyes and she hugged Athena. "I'd like that very much." She paused for a moment before adding in a whisper, "Mommy."
