"Yeah, those are my friends," Becky replied. "They're trying to pretend they aren't a couple, but I'm not fooled." She looked at him and tilted her head in a flirty pose. "So tell me, Jude, where are you from? I don't think I remember seeing you at Hogwarts, and we're about the same age."

"Oh, I didn't go to Hogwarts," Jude replied. "I went to a private school for magic, very exclusive. I hated it. I wanted to go to Hogwarts, but my parents wouldn't let me. I'm afraid they're terrible snobs. But I'm not, I promise," he said with a smile.

"Really? Never?" karl said, surprised. "I'd've thought someone like you would have had a lot of guys wanting to dance with you. I never danced, either. But then, I never went to nice places where people do that kind of thing. But Skye dances sometimes. Not like they are," he said, pointing to Becky and her new friend who were dancing in each others arms, "and not like the weird chicken dancing that other guy was doing. When Skye dances, it's without music. And she looks like a leaf dancing in the breeze." He smiled. "You don't mind when I talk about Skye and Pearl, do you? They're like my sisters."

"Trust me, I haven't any luck with guys. Mostly because I haven't really wanted to have any luck with them. I've been mainly focused on having as much as a normal life as I could, I haven't really stopped and looked around, well, until I met you I suppose," said Chloe. "And no, I don't mind you talking about Syke or Pearl."

karl felt his cheeks go red. "Sexy? That's a good thing, right? I don't know that word really. I heard the mean blonde lady who worked for the snake man use it once, but other than that, I never heard it. Does it mean cleaner? Cause I did start washing more. Skye told me girls like that. I won't let her cut my hair, though."

Karl laughed and turned red. "I think you're sexy, then, too," he said. "I like the way your hair shines in the light. And I like your eyes... and your smile. And you have such long legs..." he trailed off, looking embarassed.

Chloe turned a deep shade of red. "Thanks Karl," she said with a shy smile. "I love your dimples," she said with a laugh. "They're adorable. And so are your eyes." Chloe was still a little red, but managed another shy smile. Since he was still sitting next to her, she leaned her head on his shoulder. "Karl? Can we dance to a slow song sometime before we leave?"

Karl flushed red. "Really? Skye used to say I smelled like wet soil. Maybe my scent is changing." He smiled at her. "Well, why don't we try and have that dance now?" He took her hand in his shyly.

Karl put his arms around her waist, and began to sway to the music. It felt strange at first, but nice. He liked holding her. "This ain't so bad," he said, smiling.

Becky shrugged. "Oh, my family was OK, I guess. We weren't that close, but they weren't bad or anything. And we're definitely not rich. But I guess we did OK." She smiled and moved a little closer to Jude. "You're a good dancer," she commented.
