Charles stood at the ready and pointed his wand at Voltaire. "Tarantallegra!" he shouted, making a jabbing motion with his wand. He knew the spell, if it hit Voltaire, would do no damage, and for a skilled duelist, it would barely make him lose control. He hoped Voltaire had the same idea, to use simple spells, so Voltaire could get away before Claudia recovered her wand.

Voltaire saw the first movement of the hex and sent his itch spell flying with a quick zig zag motion, bringing his arm straight out of that and into the whip movement of Botraro. He side ducked Charles spell with a duck and roll , springing to his feet and running for the door, not looking back to see if either one of his spells hit his entending mark. "The Hell to you Chuckie!" he shouted as he shoved out of the club running into a few newer patrons as he left.

"Hey, come back here!" Charles yelled and attempted to chase after him, getting hit by first one spell, then the other. Immediately, he began to itch all over, and the trip jinx knocked him to the floor. "Bollocks!" he shouted, scratching frantically. But he carefully hid his smile; now it looked like he had tried to stop Voltaire, but he had managed to get away easily. A small part of him hated that he had helped Voltaire, whom he was determined to hate, but another part was glad he could do something for Isabella, even if she'd never know about it.

Claudia was halfway to the bar when she saw what happened. Furiously she ran to the bar and pushed aside the mousy bartender, who was trying to block her path. Snatching her wand off of the fish, she fired a few spells toward Voltaire's exiting form. When they missed, she let out a loud curse, then ran over to Charles. "Charles, you moron! You let him get away! I had him just where I wanted him, why did you have to step in at all? If I didn't know better, I'd think you wanted him to get away!"

"What?" Charles protested from the floor. "I hate the ruddy bastard; why would I want him to get away? If he was dead, maybe I'd have a chance with Isabella, and I could lure her back to our side. And watching him flirt with you made me sick. I wanted to kill him myself, but it's not my fault he broke the rules of engagement and ran away like a little girl!"

Claudia rolled her eyes. "For Salazar's sake, Charles. Your obsession with my cousin is really beyond pathetic at this point. Just what is so spectacular about her, anyway? You seriously need to move on. Meanwhile, the Dark Lord is not going to be pleased that we had him right here and let him get away. Do you suppose he will accept the excuse of 'He ran away like a little girl'?"

"Well, how should I know?" Charles grumbled. "After all, he let both of 'em get away last time, didn't he? You know, stuff happened. And you were just as much to blame as I was. You were the one who got too close and wound up on his lap. You're crazy to think it would have ended up any other way than how it did. He was going to toss your wand away, no matter what." He stood up. "Suddenly, I don't feel like drinking anymore. Well... at least not here. Maybe to the Hog's Head..." he grumbled as he walked away.

"Fine!" Claudia snapped. "Like I wanted to hang out with you, anyway!" She sat down at the table and took a sip from the abandoned bottle of scotch. It burned fiercely going down, and she liked the burn. But the taste was, as expected, completely dreadful. Still, it was there, and it was a crime to see it go to waste. So she poured herself a shot and downed it quickly. "I still think Charles let him get away on purpose," she mumbled to herself.
