I think we need to clear up what exactly we expect from Characters that are either Werewolves or Vampires
We might all have very different Ideas of what each does and doesn't do.
Weaknesses we might think are given, but Vampires here can not be killed with the Killing Curse. So I think we all have to put in our two cents and say what it is that we expect.
I for one have this
Vampire powers
Depending on age, the Vampire has the power to read minds *much like Albus or Voldemort*
Depending on age, the Vampire can have limited flight
strength and sustain unlimited damage to all limbs, as long as head or heart is not injured.
Vampire Weakness
I don't think Crosses or Holy Crosses should work garlic also
injuries to head or heart are fatal, Sunlight however, after only one millennia shouldn't be a problem.
Werewolves do not turn into half spider/monkey/dog hairless creatures they turn into large wolves. strength and claws, heightened sense of smell, used almost like a second eye.
Weaknesses Silver and head removal. Moonlight while painful is more of a help than anything else.
that's my ideas. anyone got any others or disagrees, post. It's the only way we can get on the same page on that. they

Well, you're giving a lot more power to vampires than I would.
I don't think the mind reading is necessary. I think that the garlic thing is unnecessary (seriously, who wants to walk around with garlic around their necks), but there needs to be something that even weaker characters can use as a repellent, and so I vote to keep the crosses. And I think sunlight has to stay a weakness, HOWEVER, you can purchase a Sunlight resistant cloak from Randolph Trades.
The werewolf things are all fine.

come on! a thousand years isn't enough? heheh I guess I've read to many Ann Rice Novels...But you can't really blame me for that! I was just thinking what if some one is Hindu or something? would whipping out a pentacle have the same effect? or a swastika? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika ((just in case someone didn't know what that really meant and wants to lynch me now.))

Yeah, I was under the impression that vampires were almost just regular people (because technically they were). I think the reading minds and flight things are taking it a little far... I don't really think they should be that powerful. I guess the extra strength thing makes a little bit of sense. Otherwise, I agree with Isa about the weaknesses.

pfft That's only after many centuries of being alive *or undead* that's why I said depending on age. If at one thousand years you can walk in the sun again, it would still take half that long just to glide down one block. I'm not talking having bat wings rip outta your back and to take off across the ocean.

We could make it all religious symbols (star of David, Buddha, whatever). But I think that needs to be able to be a repellent.
I think if an individual vampire wants to have mind-reading powers, they should be built into the character, but it shouldn't go for all of them. I certainly don't imagine Morgana with the ability to read minds. She can barely read her own.

Maybe so, but we can't have too many all-powerful beings wandering around here. Let's leave Voldemort and Dumbledore as the most powerful. The vampires need weaknesses.

I have a weakness for shirtless men, does that count?

Lol, OK. And also, I always imagined werewolves having very good hearing- similar to regular wolves and dogs, but maybe a little bit better. Can we all agree about that as well?

hehe they aren't all powerful, I forgot to mention fire is also a really good way to kill and Anne Vamp. In fact that's how The mother of all vampires *as seen above* killed off most of her children! besides I think you think it's really easy to live 1000 years. I'm sure most of them killed themselves before then because they were so damned bored!

But are you planning to make a 1000 year old vampire?
I agree on the enhanced senses for werewolves, too. All senses should be enhanced for them.

No. It's just a bench mark.

Oh about werewolves, should they age like dogs do? Because Remus I think seems rather old for a guy his age.

I don't think so. I mean, at hp-lexicon.org they say Remus was born in like 1958, which would make him 38 in the most recent book. He doesn't really seem a lot older than 38 to me...

Lupin seemed old because he was tired and stressed, wasn't he?

Yeah, and because he was always beaten up and everything due to his transformations. But even then...does he really seem older than like 40? I mean, if he did seem older than that, that would kind of make the whole Tonks/Lupin relationship a little strange since she was only in her early 20's.

Well, the grey hair does make him seem a little prematurely aged, but I don't think it's comparable to dog years. I agree with Bella (yeah, there's a first time for everything! ) I think it was just the stress of his transformations.
