Kris looked at Remus then ran over to him. She knelt down beside him, "Remus.." She started but couldn't think of anything to say, she put a hand on his shoulder.

Remus turned toward her, his face streaked with tears. "I can't... I can't do it anymore... keep talking in circles. Nothing we do can make right what happened to us... Dad ruined our lives... and it's all my fault for getting bitten..." He broke down and cried again, covering his face with his hands.

Remus wiped at his eyes. "I don't blame you for talking about him. I know you have issues that you need to work out with him. And I hope he answers your letter soon and can give you the answers you need. But... I just don''t want anything to do with him. I know... I know I should talk to him, just like you.... but I don't want to. I'm mad and I want to stay that way... for a while, anyway. It's his fault I'm like this, and then he went and robbed me of my own sister... and lied to me and kept things from me... How am I ever supposed to forgive him? I can't. I can't even believe his explanations, because to me they're all just excuses. I don't know if I can ever believe another word he ever says."

I think she missed you, and she never could get over it." He slowly got to his feet. "So, do you want to try and say anything to her, or do you just want to go?"

Remus took her hand and squeezed it lightly. Then he led her over to where Skye was standing, waiting for them. "I guess we're ready to go back," he said.

Skye nodded, looking at both of them. "Very well," she said quietly. "Would you like to stop anywhere on the way back? At one of the stores or something?" She was still not comfortable with being in town, but she thought it might help them if they went out somewhere, instead of just going back to the house.
