Vincent hobbled over and sat down next to her bed. "No, no one else was hurt. Two of the Death Eaters turned against the other one and prevented her from doing anything else. But Voltaire had a battle with Tyler... he was probably under the Imperius Curse. Anyway, Voltaire's pretty badly shaken up by it all. But no one else was hurt."

Emily sighed. "That's a good thing. I feel bad for Voltaire though," said Emily. "How long do I have to stay here? Because honestly, I'm not too comfortable here."

"I don't know. We'll have to ask the doctor about that... where did he go, anyway?" Vincent looked around the room for a second, then looked back at her. "Yeah, I feel bad for him, too. But I'm sure if he can talk to Isabella, he'll feel better. You know, that one Death Eater... Charles... he saved Voltaire's life. He stepped in front of the woman--Claudia--and stopped her from killing him. All because of Isabella. Strange, huh?"

Emily nodded. "Yeah, it is. I suppose even though the man's a deatheater, he still has some heart left. Voltaire's lucky," said Emily. "I agree. Once he gets to Isabella, he'll be fine," she said with a smile.

"Yeah... I wonder if he can be turned. I mean, you and Isabella and Voltaire were all Death Eaters, and now I think the three of you are probably the best people we have on our side." He sighed and touched her cheek. "You know, you really gave me quite a scare back there. I don't know what I'd do if I lost you." He brought her hand up to his lips and kissed it gently.

Emily smiled slightly as Vincent kissed her hand. "You weren't going to lose me. You're never going to lose me. I was scared that if I didn't do something then you were going to get hit, and then if it was serious enough, I could have lost you instead, because you're still a little weak. I couldn't risk that," she said squeezing his hand.

"You shouldn't have done that," he said, rubbing his thumb over the back of her hand. "I would have rather been hurt myself than to see you hurt. I'm doing better, I'm getting stronger. We're going to get through this. And soon, I'll be able to walk without this cane, and we'll be walking down the aisle." He smiled at her. "But I love that you were so brave as to try and defend me that way."

Emily smiled. "I knew I couldn't just sit there and watch you get hurt," said Emily. "It's the first thing that came to my mind. I know you're getting better, and I'm glad. I didn't want to see you start back at one, after everything, you know?"

Vincent leaned in and kissed her. "I love you," he said softly. "I really almost lost it when you flew backwards like that... Don't ever do anything like that again, OK?"

"I love you too," Emily said with a smile. "And I won't do anything like that again," she said with a nod in agreement. She laced their fingers together and gave him another smile. "You know, I almost started to freak out whenever I realized I was in this room and I saw the doctor. I had no idea where I was, nor did I know where you were or who he was."

"I wanted to stay with you. But the doctor kicked me out," Vincent said. "I was just waiting outside for you. I'd never leave you."

"I know. I just didn't know where I was," said Emily. "But things are just slightly better," she said with a smile.

"That's good," Vincent said. He squeezed her hand. "I'm better now, too. I'm always better when I'm with you. Do you want me to find the doctor and ask when you can get out of here?"

Emily smiled. "That would be nice. You can also tell him that I can check in with Poppy at the school too, if he recommends it."

"OK," said Vincent. "Just hold on for a minute. I'll be right back." He bent down and kissed her forehead and brushed a stray hair away from her face. "I love you," he said tenderly. He lingered a second longer, then hurried off to find the doctor.

Tristan had been waiting nearby, checking on Emily's charts, and looked up when Vincent approached him. "Yes, what can I do for you? She hasn't gotten any worse, has she?"

Vincent smiled. "Oh, no, she's fine. I just was wondering when she could go home. We live in Hogsmeade, we could check in with Madam Pomfrey at Hogwarts if necessary."

Tristan looked up at him. "Well, she has suffered a pretty serious concussion. I'd be much more comfortable if she stayed overnight at least. I can re-evaluate her condition in the morning. You're welcome to stay with her, if you prefer, but I can't in good conscience send her home so soon."

"Seriously?" Vincent said. "Overnight? But.." he sighed. "Yeah, OK, you're the doctor. I'll go tell her. Thanks." He frowned and headed back to Emily. "Bad news, honey. He says you have to stay overnight, just for evaluation."

Emily sighed. "Well, it's alright, at least it's not for a week," said Emily. "One night won't kill me," she said witha smile. "You're staying, right?"
