"Well, the ones in registry aren't that horrible. I know a few are in with Fenrir, but there are others who are out on their own," said Evangeline. "The others that don't register, I can't really do anything about that. Actually no one can really do anything about it. The werewolves are supposed to come and register. The majority does, but there are a few who don't."

"Ah, OK," Tristan said. He took another sip from his glass. "Listen, I'm sure you don't really want to sit here and talk about work, right? I know I don't really like talking about mine... it's so stressful, and when I'm not working, I need to relax and have fun. So, why don't you tell me a little about yourself. Where are you from? And where have you been hiding all my life?"

"Well, I'm from Surrey, but I stay around here after I graduated from Hogwarts. I started working in the Ministry right after Hogwarts, because I needed the money since my parents weren't around anymore. Although I got their money, I wanted to get my own," said Evangeline. "Since then, I haven't changed. What about you?"

"So you went to Hogwarts, too, huh? I must have been running with a different crowd back then," he said. "I'm sure otherwise I would have noticed you. Let's see, well, I'm from Manchester, my parents are still around, but we don't really get along. I used to be a bit of a prankster back when I was younger, and my parents didn't approve. After Hogwarts, I worked as an apprentice at St. Mungo's and trained as a healer, then slowly worked my way up. I guess there's not much else to say."

"I see. My parents died on a mission they had," said Evangeline. "But, sorry that you don't really get along with your parents. You don't really know how much of a good thing you have, until it's gone. I found that out the hard way, but life is still good," she said finishing up her drink.

"Would you like another?" he asked, signalling to her drink. "I am sorry about your parents. It must have been hard losing them so young. What did they do, if you don't mind me asking? My father works for Gringott's, and my mother doesn't work. I know I should try and be closer to them, but... we just never understood each other."

"I could take another butterbeer. I don't really drink strong drinks on weekdays since I have to work on the weekdays," said Evangeline. "Thanks." Evangeline sighed. "Well, they were deatheaters. I was in Slytherin because of my parents. I was one of the outcasts in Slytherin, because I didn't want to grow up and be a deatheater, nor did I want to become an auror, so I became a Ministry worker."

"Ah, you were in Slytherin," said Tristan. "My teachers always used to say I should have been in Slytherin. I was very sneaky in those days." He laughed and took another sip of his glass, finishing it. He waved over a barmaid. "I'll have another, and another butterbeer for the lady," he said. After the barmaid walked away, he continued, "I was in Ravenclaw, actually. That's me, just a big brainiac. It's funny, thoguh... I'm sure I would have seen a girl like you. But I guess maybe you've grown up a lot since then, huh?"

"Yeah, I guess I have. I used to have a bit more frizzy hair than I do now and I used to wear glasses all the time. Not very appealing, I don't guess," said Evangeline with a smile. "I still wear them from time to time if I really need them.

Tristan chuckled. "I bet you still look adorable in them," he replied. Now that she had mentioned the frizzy hair and glasses, he had a feeling he remembered her after all. She was the girl his friend had had a crush on back in school. His smile faded slightly as he thought of Wesley. Once they had been best friends, but they had taken very different paths. Now Wesley was dead. Ah, well, he thought. He won't mind me going out with his old crush. "Actually, back in school, I wore glasses, too. But I did have great hair." He gave her a wink.

Evangeline rolled her eyes. "And I thought girls were supposed to be more thoughtful of their hair, than guys," she said with a laugh. "No, I wasn't 'adorable' ,as you say, in them. I never dated during school, I just had several guy friends that was it," she said with a shrug. "Although, I do believe I remember seeing you around school some."

"Well, I figure if you've got great hair, flaunt it," he teased, tossing his head around. "No, I'm just kidding. I'm really not vain about my hair at all. How does it look, by the way?" He laughed. "Kidding, just kidding." He took a sip from his new glass of firewhiskey and looked at her thoughtfully. "You know, I think I remember you, too. Always with your nose inside a book. I had a friend like that, actually."

"Ah yes. That was me. None of the Slytherins would be caught dead with their nose in a book, but then again I was like the outcast Slytherin. I had friends in other houses," said Evangeline. "My other so called housemates didn't like me very much, but I'd be the first person they'd come too if they needed help in a class. Who was your friend?"

"Yeah, my friend was like that, but in Ravenclaw, you can get away with that sort of thing. His name was Wesley St. Clare. Don't suppose you remember him?" he replied.

"Actually, I do remember Weasley," said Evangeline. "He was one of my friends, but it wasn't like we were extremely close or anything. We met in the library. The last time I saw him was several months ago at the Ministry. I haven't seen him sense."

"Oh, then you haven't heard?" Tristan said. "Wes died a few months ago. He fell through some veil thing in the Department of Mysteries. Or, at least, that's what I heard. We hadn't spoken in a few years, but I went to his funeral. It was very sad. He had two little girls."

Evangeline frowned. "Oh. No, I didn't know about it. Then again I don't really hear anything about what's going on inside the Ministry. I feel sorry for his kids. Didn't he marry? And his wife died or something?"

"Yeah, he did," Tristan replied. He felt a stab of bitterness. "He was married to Olivia Domino. You remember her, right? She was in Gryffindor. Head Girl, beautiful, popular. Everyone loved her. And somehow, Wesley got her attention. I still don't know how he did it." He took a long sip from his drink to wash away the bitterness. He'd always had a crush on Olivia, as had most of the guys at school. Wes had never been interested in Olivia, until they'd started spending a lot of time together as Head Boy and Head Girl. That had been the beginning of the end of his friendship with Wesley. "She died over the summer, murder they said it was. I don't think they caught the person who did it."

"I see. I do remember her, because I met her in the library once," said Evangeline. "Come to think of it, I met most of the people I remember in the library," she said with a small laugh. "That's horrible. I hope they find whoever did it."

"Yeah, she did hang out a lot in the library. She was also really smart and she studied all the time..." He shook his head, trying to block out the memory. "Yeah, me, too. I mean, it really sucks for those kids, you know? One of them looks so much like Olivia, it's almost scary. The other one is more like Wesley... weird and quiet, with piercing eyes. Like she could look right inside you or something." He took another sip. "Well, the conversation has taken a depressing turn, hasn't it? Let's lighten the subject a little? Do you dance?"
