Emily walked into the Hog's Head with her head down. She took a seat at the bar and didn't even look up at the bartender. "I need to see Vincent quickly." she said to him. Emily had found herself near the shrieking shack just a few minutes before she had walked into the Hog's Head. Emily was hiding a black eye and busted lip. Not only that, her legs were pretty beat up too and she had a long stratch down the right side of her face.

Vincent stared down at her in horror. What had happened to her? Who had done it? He immediately wanted to kill whoever it was. "I'll... I'll get him," he said, and dashed into the back room and transformed. Then he rushed back. He wasn't sure why he wasn't letting her know that he was the fat old bartender, but he decided not to think about it for the moment. "Emily, what happened?" he asked, putting his finger under her chin and lifting up her face.

"They came back. They kidnapped me and took me some place. I don't know where. They wanted me to kill someone else, but I wouldn't do it. They asked why not. I told them that they promised they wouldn't come for me again and I just couldn't kill again, let alone this person." Emily said with a tear rolling down her cheek.

"Oh, hey, don't cry," Vincent said. He conjured a box of tissues and held it out to her with one hand, while patting her shoulder with the other. "I'm going to get these guys, I promise. Who did they want you to kill?"

Emily wiped her eyes and took a deep breath. "They wanted to me to kill, you." she said quietly.

"Me?" he gasped. "Well, I'm glad you couldn't do it, but.... I hate that they beat you up over this! We've got to find a way to catch these guys. And I guess I'm going to have to be extra careful now that I know they're out to get me." He put his arms around her. "Are you hurt badly? Should I take you to St. Mungo's? Or do you want to come in the back with me and I'll help you get cleaned up?"

Emily relaxed in his arms. "I don't need to go to St. Mungos. A few bandages and I'll be fine." she said resting her head against his chest. "And, do you have anything for a major headache? The stupid son of a b*tch hit me in the head to knock me out, and I really have a bad headache."

"OK, come on in the back. There's a first aid kit in there and some other stuff." He felt reluctant to let her go, because he liked holding her, but he knew she needed to get cleaned up. "Come on." He pulled away, but kept an arm around her shoulders as he led her into the back room. He walked over to a small, beaten-up couch. "Sit here. I'll be right back."

"Okay." said Emily quietly. She tucked her hair behind her ears like always. Emily leaned back onto the couch.

Vincent came back with a first aid kit and a bottle of pills. "Here, let me clean up that cut near your eye," he said. He took out some cotton and a small bottle of liquid. Soaking the cotton in the liquid, he knelt down and dabbed at the cut. "I'm sorry if this stings," he said.

"It's okay. I've had worse." Emily said as Vincent cleaned the cut. "Thank you so much."

He finished cleaning the cut, then cleaned the long scratch on her cheek, and then finally, he gently cleaned her split lip. Then he took out his wand and muttered an incantation to close up the cuts, leaving three thin scars. "Those should heal up nicely," he said. "Soon the scars won't even be visible." He handed her the pills. "Here, take these for the headache. I'll get you some water."

"Alright." said Emily holding the pills.

He came back a minute later with the water. "Here. Take two of those. I'm going to clean these cuts on your legs." He knelt down on the dusty floor and, using a fresh piece of cotton soaked with the alcohol, he dabbed gently at the cuts, some of which were quite deep. Some looked like knife slashes, possibly done with the Sectumsempra spell, while others looked like fingernail scratches. "What did they do to you?" he asked softly. "I don't suppose you got a look at any of them..."

Emily took a drink of water to swallow the pills. "Told me I was a living example of telling them no. They said I came out lucky, which I did. I refused to kill you, and they don't like it when people tell them no. Last time, it was a lot worse." Emily said quietly. "I got a look at one of them. I mean it wasn't a clear view of her face, but still a look at her." she said quietly. "The woman was a blonde haired woman. I heard a man call her Dupree or something like that. Her hair was really short. That's all I remember of her. After a few minutes everything started to run together, and the next thing I know I was by the Shrieking Shack."

He had finished cleaning the cuts on her legs and had sealed them using the same incantation. Now he was sitting back, looking at her worriedly. "Dupree?" he repeated. "I'm not familiar with the name. I'll ask some of my contacts if they have any information or if they've seen anyone matching her description around. In the meantime, do you want a safe place to stay? I can probably arrange something for you. Or we could give you protection.... a guard or something. I want you to be safe." He reached up and ran his finger over the scar on her cheek.

"I'll be fine. I'll come in and check in with you everyday. I don't need a guard." said Emily grabbing his hand that was on her cheek. "Thank you."

"Are you sure?" Vincent asked worriedly. "These people sound to be pretty dangerous, and I don't want you to get hurt." Her hand was still holding his and he rather liked the way it felt. On an impulse, he leaned in and kissed her.

"I'm sure." Emily said before he kissed her. Emily didn't move for a second, because it seemed like her heart dropped to her feet, but she got it back together quickly and she kissed him back in response.

When he pulled back, Vincent's face flushed. "I... I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that..."
