"Werewolves? Greyback is hunting kids again?" she said curiously, looking up at him again. "What a weirdo." she muttered. "Uh, I think I'm okay for now. I'll go to Hogwarts later on tonight and watch out." she said still looking him in the eye.

"Yeah, Greyback. He's at least part of what we're worried about. We also think that a boy he turned years ago is currently at Hogwarts and we're going to try to see if we can get him on our side. Voltaire's handling that part of it, while Jake looks for Greyback. Come to think of it, I wonder if Jake can handle that part. He seems a bit of a hothead and not all that bright, if you know what I'm saying. But yeah, you don't need to worry about the werewolves... Just concentrate on Laitia and in patrolling around Hogwarts and Hogsmeade." He smiled and held out his hand. "Well, good luck, Miss Alchemia. I'm looking forward to working with you."

"Call me Emily. Miss Alchemia makes me feel really old." she said smiling and shaking his hand. "I look forward to working with you too."

He laughed. "Yeah, OK, I know what you mean, Emily. You can call me Vincent as well." He smiled at her again, trying to think of another reason to keep talking to her. "Um, hey, do you want a drink?" He looked up at the bar, as if looking for the bartender, even though he knew he wouldn't be there. "Um, I could get you something..."

"I guess another glass of firewhiskey would be nice." she said smiling.

"OK, hang on," he said. He got up and walked around to the back of the bar, got two shot glasses and dug out the good firewhiskey, instead of the watered-down cheap stuff. He filled both glasses and then put the bottle away before walking back around to the table. "Here you go," he said, handing her a glass.

"Thanks." she said drinking some, but not drinking it all at once. "So, what caused you to become an Auror?" she asked trying to get him talking again.

He took a sip of his own drink. "I don't know," he said. "Nothing in particular. I wish I could give you some tragic, dark story from my past, but there really isn't one. I guess I just wanted to save the world or something. Stupid, huh? Most days I don't feel like I've accomplished all that much... Voldemort and his followers have been particularly hard to pin down."

"Nah, it's not stupid. That's what I wanted to do. My parents were both deatheaters and they wanted me to become one too, but I didn't want too. After graduating from Hogwarts, I almost got mugged, and almost killed the guy with my bare hands. Before he attacked me again, someone knocked me out and I was taken to some place. The people were my last employers. They told me if I didn't do the jobs they gave me, they'd kill my family, so as you see, I had no choice. I disappeared for a year, because I couldn't take it. They wanted me to kill people. I changed my name to something else, because I wasn't stupid enough to give them my real name. I also changed my appearance and all that good stuff. I came back as soon as I heard they killed my parents. They told me if I killed the man they would leave me alone and let me go. So of course, I did what they told me too. The man that I killed, that I told you about, is the only person I've ever killed. Once that happened, I ran for it. Changed my name back to it's original name, dyed my hair back to it's natural color, and moved back here." she said finishing off her glass.

He stared at her, feeling a strange urge to put his arms around her. "I'm really sorry," he said. "I've actually heard of people doing those kinds of things... you were lucky they didn't put the Imperius Curse on you. I'd like to help you get these people, if possible, because you won't really be safe while they're still out there." He reached across the table and put his hand on hers. "I've killed only one person myself. It was in a battle against a really nasty Death Eater, and if I hadn't killed him first, he would have killed me. Still, I know how awful it feels."

Emily felt her face go hot, and hoped it hadn't turned red. She smiled to herself as she felt his hand go over hers. "Yeah, but the thing of it is, they are hard people to find. They get up and move so often. I doubt that they are in the same place." she said looking at him. "I know this is probably going to sound dumb and corny, but I feel better knowing that someone like you is around." said she grinning.

Now it was Vincent's turn to flush. He smiled and ran his hand unconsciously through his hair. "Thanks," he said. "That means a lot to me, really. But about these people, please let me know if you hear of any activities similar to what happened to you. I'll keep an ear out as well. These people need to be stopped."

"Yeah, they do, but there are more of them, than there are of us. Plus too, they are very skilled people." she commented. "I'll keep an ear out though." she said smiling.

"Yeah, they would have to be," he said grimly. "But maybe we can find a way. I'll see what I can find out, OK?"

"Yeah, I guess so," he said. He knew he should probably be wrapping this up and getting back into his bartender disguise, but he didn't want to stop talking to her. "Well, uh, we were talking about Greyback earlier, and you seemed familiar with his, uh, activities. How did you know of him?"

"Yeah, about Greyback. He bit my brother. My father had to kill my brother, because he tried to attack me." she said quietly. "We were about 13."

"Wow, I'm really sorry," he said again. "Greyback is a real nasty piece of work, preying on children. I'm sorry about your brother. You've really had a rough time of things," he said. He found himself wanting to make things better for her somehow. His hand was still on hers, he realized, and he suddenly took it and held it in his own. "I want to catch Greyback; I have for a while now. I'll do what I can."

"I'll help. I mean he's never going to stop unless we do something about it." she said taking her own hand off the table and sat it in her lap. "No matter what's happened to me, I've always bounced back, so it's all good." she said slightly smiling.

He frowned as she pulled her hand away. "Great. We need all the help we can get with this guy," he said. "I'm glad you're OK. You've got to be able to bounce back, so it seems like you know what you're doing." He sighed. "Listen, I should probably get going now, but I'd like to meet with you later for a report, if you don't mind checking things out around Hogwarts. Um, maybe we could go somewhere for dinner?"
