Emily walked into the Hog's Head from a long day. She tucked her hair behind her ears and sat down at the bar. "Firewhiskey." she said to the bartender.

Vincent smiled at the woman and poured her a shot of firewhiskey. To himself he wondered what it was with women drinking firewhiskey, but he decided not to comment on that. "Don't think I've seen you around here, miss," he said. "You new in town?

"No not really. I just keep to myself a lot and stay in the shadows most of the time." she commented to the bartender. Emily downed the firewhiskey like there was no tomorrow. She had to get her mind off her last job. "Let me ask you a question. Have you ever killed a man with a kid and felt bad for it afterward?" she asked motioning him to pour her another glass.

Vincent raised his eyebrow at her. Here was another woman who could swallow a shot of firewhiskey in one gulp! This one was much younger. "Can't say as I've ever killed a man," he said. "But I think if I did, I'd feel bad anyway. Especially if he had a kid."

"They knew I wouldn't do it if I knew he had a kid. 'No, he's single' they say." she said throwing her hands up. "Use the death curse and as soon as he hits the floor his son walks in. Can't be more than seven. I wanted to adopt the kid and raise him myself, but then I thought, who am I kidding? I'm only 21 and I've got a job. I'm not able to raise him. I wouldn't be a good mother to the kid, because I'm gone all the time." she went on. She put her head in her hands.

Vincent wached the girl, feeling sorry for her... and maybe something else. "Why would a young woman like you need to kill anyone?" he asked.

"It's a job I just quit. It happened in the States. It was the only job that I found that could pay the bills. I finally moved back here." she sighed.

"Well, I'm glad to hear that," Vincent said. "I'd hate to think of a lady as lovely as yourself working in such a terrible job. What are you doing now?"

"You know stuff here and there. Picking up things that I can use to pay the bills." she said shrugging. "Oh yeah, speaking of jobs. Where can I find a man named Vincent Corrigan?"

"Vincent?" he said, "Yeah, he's probably in the back. He's usually hanging around here. I'll go see if I can find him." He smiled slightly to himself, because he was beginning to feel trapped in his disguise, and was anxious to show himself to this woman. Walking into the back, he changed into his own form and waited for a few minutes before going back out into the bar. "Hi, I'm Vincent," he said, approaching her. "George told me you were looking for me. Are you the new Auror applicant?"

Emily glanced him over. "Yeah, I'm the new Auror applicant. Emily Alchemia is the name. Nice hair by the way." she said smiling.

"Oh, thanks, you like?" he said, running a hand through his hair and grinning. "Takes a lot of work to get it like this..." He shook his head. "Sorry. Nice to meet you, Emily. Why don't you have a seat and we can talk about your skills?"

Emily smiled to herself and took a seat at a table. "Okay, so where do you want to start?" she asked folding one leg under her.

He walked over and sat down across from her. "OK, so basically, I just need to know your strengths, so I can decide what I should have you do. Or is there some area in particular that you're interested in?"

"It doesn't matter where I'm put, just as long as I don't have to do a lot of paperwork. Fighting, strategies, and dueling are probably my strongest points." she said shrugging."

"OK, cool," he said. "Unfortunately, I'm the one who's usually stuck with all the paperwork. Never figured this for a desk job. So, yeah, I think we can use you around this way. We need Aurors to protect the school, especially since we believe there is at least one Death Eater teaching at the school. Her name's Laitia Kirak. Would you like to focus an investigation on her, do surveillance and everything on her?"

"Yeah sure, I'll do whatever I can. Yeah, sorry bout the paperwork, if need be, I guess I could some off your hands for a while. I can do it at night when I have nothing else to do." she said shrugging.

"OK, great. Don't worry about the paperwork too much; it's just part of beng in charge. Just as long as you give me regular reports on what you're up to and what you find out, that's all I really need." He looked at her again. She really was very pretty... He shook that thought from his mind and thought again about what she had said to him in his bartender disguise. "Oh, one thing... have you ever killed anyone before?"

Emily swallowed. "Yea." she said quietly. "I didn't know he had a kid. They knew I wouldn't do it if he had a kid, wife, or girlfriend for that matter. They told me he was single and childless. I went and killed him. As soon as his body hit the floor, his kid came in. He couldn't have been more than seven. I wanted to take him in myself and raise him, but I thought about it and realized that I can't. I'm hardly ever home and I wouldn't be that great of a mother on account of that. I made sure the kid got to his real mother before I left him alone." she said taking a sudden interest in the table.

He put a hand on her shoulder. "I'm sorry," he said sincerely. There was something about this girl that was getting to him. The fact that she'd "had" to kill someone set off alarms in his head, because there weren't many things he could think of that would require someone to kill another person. Yet somehow he could not believe she was evil. Her regret certainly seemed sincere... He cleared his throat. "I think you know that, on occasion, you may need to be prepared to kill someone, but only if you are in a duel with a Death Eater and yiou need to defend yourself. Let's just hope it doesn't come to that." He smiled at her. "OK, well, I'd like for you to stay around Hogsmeade and keep an eye on Dark activity here, and to investigate Laitia Kirak. You can usually find me here... uh, just ask the bartender for me. Also, I have two other Aurors patrolling the school areas and working investigating werewolves, so you should meet them in case you need backup for anything. Their names are Jake and Voltaire. I'll see if I can arrange a meeting. Any questions?"
