Rochelle had felt bad for avoiding Sully yesterday, but she had to. She had to make sure that her sratches wouldn't bleed, because she knew that if he saw that, then he would have questions. Rochelle slipped out of the Hog's Head, without being noticed, or so she hoped that she wasn't. She ordered a cup of tea while she tried to get her thoughts in order about what she would say if he asked questions about where she was yesterday, or what happened.

Sully headed out early for breakfast. He had shaved again, deciding not to let himself gett too shaggy again. As he walked toward the tea shop, he thought again about Rochelle. He had hoped to see her yesterday and ask about her night out with her friend. But she had never even come back to her room at the Hog's Head. After his own near attack with the werewolves on the night of the full moon, he was getting a bit worried about her. If he didn't see her today, he was going to be genuinely worried. It couldn't happen again... it just couldn't...
He stepped into the tea shop and walked up to the counter, ordering a cup of coffee and an English muffin. As he waited, he glanced around. To his relief, he spotted Rochelle sitting in a corner. He broke into a smile and walked over to her quickly. "There you are!" he said happily. "I was beginning to worry about you."

Rochelle's thought quickly scattered whenever Sully appeared. She smiled at him happily. "Hey. Aw, you shouldn't worry about me," said Rochelle. "Sorry I didn't see you yesterday. I wasn't, feeling that well yesterday. But, how are you?"

He sat down across from her. "I'm fine now that I see you," he said. "Sorry you weren't feeling well. You didn't have too much to drink while you were out with your friend, did you?"

Rochelle smiled again. "No, I didn't have to much to drink while I was out. In fact, I didn't do any drinking the other night. We just caught up is all," said Rochelle. "I'm feeling much better than yesterday. How was your night the other night?"

Sully took a sip of the coffee which the waitress had just brought to him. "It was all right, I guess. But strange. I... I didn't go hunting, like I said I wouldn't. But strangely enough, a werewolf found me. It tried to attack me, then another one came and fought with it. And a third one came and chased them both away. I summoned my tranquilizer gun, but I didn't even use it. It was very strange..."

"Interesting," said Rochelle. "I wonder what that was about," she said. "Oh, Sully. There's a question I have been meaning to ask you, that one of my contacts has been wanting to know. Do you remember killing a werewolf in France?"

Sully looked at her strangely. This seemed like a random question to be asking. "Aye, I killed a few werewolves in France. Six, to be exact. Why are you asking?"

Rochelle swallowed. "Well, you see, one of my contacts, mates, or husband, if that's what you wish to call it, was killed in France by a hunter. She wanted me to ask you if you remember killing one, because she remembered seeing you in France. The wolf was sort of greyish with black on him. She wanted to know if you killed him."

Sully frowned. "I can't say for sure. I don't really remember the ones that I killed. But I will tell you this. Most of the ones I've killed were endangering other humans. There were a few that weren't, but for the most part, they were. I am sorry about your friend's mate. Do you know when it happened?"

"It was on February 29th," said Rochelle. She dreaded to know the fact that he probably did kill Buck. If he did, then she would have to do something, because Gretchen would more than likely kill him, and she couldn't let that happen.

"February 29th," Sully repeated. He took a sip from his coffee and thought for a minute, trying to put himself back in that place and time. For some reason, it felt like a very long time ago, like something out of another life. "I think.... yes... I think I did kill a werewolf that night. It was on the edge of a wooded area that was really close to a farmhouse. There was a little boy looking for his lost dog, and the werewolf was stalking him. I was following the werewolf, trying to get a clean shot, and it went towards the boy and was about to attack when I shot it."

Rochelle swallowed and rested her elbows on the table and her head in her hands. She looked up. "Sully, I think you're going to have to leave town, or something. Once G, I mean my contact finds out, she's probably going to come and try to kill you," said Rochelle.

Sully shook his head. "I'm not going to run away. Not anymore. I've been doing it too long... and now I've finally found a reason to stay." He reached across the table and took her hands in his. "I won't leave you. I... I love you, Rochelle."

"You have to," said Rochelle. "She'll kill you! I know her. She won't care, she'll kill you! I can't let her do that," she continued. Rochelle quieted down for a moment when he took her hands, and she felt her whole body go warm. "I, I," she began, "I don't know if you do want to love me." Rochelle hung her head then looked back up. "And I don't know if you want to stay either. Come with me, and I'll tell you why. We can't talk in here. Too many ears listening," she said standing up and pulling him with her.

He stood up, feeling a bit confused. he had just confessed to her that he loved her, and it seemed like she wasn't happy to hear it. Why would he not want to love her? He had tried to fight it at first, but he knew now there was no way to fight it, and he had decided to give in to it. "All right, we'll talk," he said. "Just lead the way."

Rochelle led him to the same spot she led him the other day. She was sure that no one was around here, so she began to speak. "Look, Sully, promise me you won't run off until I finish telling you everything okay?"
Rochelle sighed. "When I was around 10 I was out in the woods and there was this incident. I don't know who it was, I never found out who, but I was bitten. My parents found out, and didn't really want anything to do with me after that, and that's when my brother stepped in and started to take care of me. One night on a full moon is when he meet Victoria. For about three years, it was just the three of us. We were somewhat a family I suppose. Then on a full moon, a hunter came into our woods, and you know that part of the story already. After that, I was about 13 or 14, and I started to run with Fenrir Greyback. I stayed with him until I was around 16, and then I left his pack. I met up with Gretchen then, and I've been with her since. Buck was our pack leader, until he was killed. And that was Gretchen's mate. That's why I'm telling you she'll kill you. I know her. I never hurt anybody. I never had a desire to. I've only hunted animals. At first, Gretchen sent me to find out if you had killed Buck when we found out you were here, and to sort of distract you. But after about just ten minutes with you, I couldn't do it for her. I couldn't just distract you or put on an act. I told myself that I wasn't doing it for her, because I really needed a friend, and then you started to make me feel different. Like, I belonged somewhere, and some other kind of feeling. I don't know how to describe it. Then the other night, the wolf that attacked the other, that was me. Korbel was going to attack you, but I couldn't let him do it. I couldn't see you get hurt, let alone die. I was following you back to the Hog's Head to make sure that you would get back alright, and then that's when that happened. I'm sorry I haven't told you sooner, but I couldn't have told you. I'm not sure if I should have told you, but you probably would have found out sooner or later."

Sully didn't say anything for a long time. He listened quietly to her story, feeling a mixture of shock, anger, and sadness. Tears filled his eyes and he blinked them back with difficulty. When she finished talking, he looked away from her and stared over at the Shrieking Shack, trying to think. "So... you're... you're a werewolf?" he said at last. "And your friend, Gretchen, who I met the other night... she's one, too? And you say she wants to kill me because I killed her mate?" He sighed, feeling terribly confused. "Does it matter to her at all that her mate was about to tear into an 8 year old boy? You may not attack humans, but some werewolves do. I admit I've been feeling guilty about what I've done in the past... killing werewolves, but I don't feel guilty about that one! That boy could have been killed... or turned. I was saving him, and I did what I had to do. And I'm not going to run away from that. If Gretchen wants to kill me, then so be it... we'll fight. But don't count me out. I'm a strong fighter... I've had to be to do what I've done. I won't back down."

"Damn it Sully, you don't understand," said Rochelle starting to cry. "She'll kill you! I can't let her kill you. I don't know if she'll believe me if I tell her that." She looked back at Sully. "You have to leave. You can't die." Rochelle took a couple of steps closer to him and kissed him then pulled away and looked into his eyes. "I love you Sully. You taught me how, but I can't have you dying on me," she whispered, then she started to run away into the woods.

Sully watched her go, feeling stunned and confused and strangely pleased. She loved him... but she was a werewolf. He didn't care about the threat against his life... but the fact that Rochelle cared... it mattered more than he wanted to admit. Slowly he stood up and began to walk back to the Hog's Head. It wasn't even noon, but he needed a drink. A big one.
